Pros: delicious, healthy, variety Cons: somewhat small portions
I love this restaurant! There is something to please every palate.
The atmosphere is casual. This is a place to bring the whole family. Sit down and take the time to read the menu. And it does take time because it is pages and pages long....

Pros: Variety, not too bad of food. Cons: Slow service, take out a home loan before eating there.
With all the great restaurants in the metro Chicago area, one would think the need to be competitive in cost and quality is essential. I had driven past Chowpatti several times and one day wondered what it actually was. I am a fan of many foods, and ...

Pros: The room is pleasant, the location is convenient, and the menu is large. Cons: Very overpriced. Very poor value.
I was eager to try Chowpatti in Arlington Heights, especially because I love Indian cuisine, and I know this is their specialty. The room is very pleasant, and yes, as other reviewers have stated, the menu is enormous. But I was really taken aback by ...

Pros: enormous menu, including dozens of fresh juices, friendly and helpful owners, relaxing atmosphere Cons: it's closed on Mondays ;)
Chowpatti has proven it's staying power - it has lasted in this unassuming Arlington Heights strip mall for over 20 years. As other reviews mention, Chowpatti virgins will encounter a 26 page menu, interestingly absent of tofu, seitan, or tempeh, the ...

Pros: Casual dining with a wide variety of tasty veggie foods-Love it! Cons: Service can be slow at times, food a little pricey
I was very pleased to discover Chowpatti-only 5 minutes away from my brother's apartment. My fiance and I are vegetarians and we convinced my brother & his boyfriend to eat there with us for the first time-I have to say we were ALL impressed-and my...

Pros: Excellent food, huge menu (20+ pages), great service Cons: A little expensive
Chowpatti is such a great restaurant. I've wanted to go there for a long time, but it's a bit of a drive from Chicago. Trust me, it's worth the drive.
The menu is HUGE. It is more than 20 pages long. It will take you at least 15 minutes to...

Pros: Lots of choices for vegetarians Cons: Pricey, once you order enough food to satisfy you; service is slow
As you can probably tell from my review title, this restaurant does not get a high rating from me. I have been to many of the Chicago area's vegetarian restaurants (Blind Faith Cafe in Evanston, Chicago Diner in the city, etc.), and this restaurant...

Pros: Light and good Cons: Some failed experiments
Tradition is a good base to innovate from, one would think. Yet Indian Restaraunts have long clung to tradition, afraid to branch out in fear of losing their base while not attracting a mainstream American audience. Chowpatti has carved out a nice niche...

Pros: The food is delicious Cons: The atmosphere may turn you off at first, do not be afraid!
Chowpatti is Arlington Height's best Indian/vegetarian restaurant. Located slightly outside of the city (meaning Chicago), Chowpatti is a rare find in the land-o-lakes and steaks. Hey, I know, I live in Wisconsin. You might be surprised to see that it...

Very low Value
by cibu ,Feb 07 '05
Pros: Good ambience Cons: Very Pricey, below average taste, recommendations without considering you
This is a Lacto-vegetarian restaurant in Arlington Heights, IL
Food: Below average. We tried 2 items. Indian Bada-pav(meatless stew) and Meatless Lasagna. You can get much better Bada-pav in many other restaurants nearby. Eg: Milan Chat. Meatless Lasagna was a very dull imitation of the meat-full one and without any tomato-based sauce.
Price: This is very expensive restaurant. For those 2 entries and 2 drinks, it costed me $30(excluding tip). It is at least 50% more priced than those in the same market segment.
Service: Stingy. For lasagna, the waitress (also the owner) suggested a sauce. Even though we told we prefer only medium spicy, the sauce was very hot, and she charged $1 for a teaspoon of that. So be careful with their suggestions.

Chowpatti Rocks!
by kcraine ,Nov 05 '03
Pros: Quality food, lots of choices, close to suburbs, vegan or vegetarian available Cons: a little pricey, not much atmosphere
While the place doesn't have a lot of atmosphere, the food is awesome. I'm a vegetarian so I love all the choices (the menu is like 20 pages) You can choose from all types of foods, not just Indian food. My boyfriend isn't a vegetarian and he likes it too. It's a little pricey for the portion size, but the quality is well worth it.

Horrible awful disgusting
by dixdak ,Apr 10 '09
Pros: Can't think of any. Cons: Poor quality, boring, no one cares its obvious.
We took an out of town friend who is vegan. It was 7pm and there was one guy in the place reading. If it was a Gordon Ramsey show, they would have had cricket sounds . She looked over the huge menu and wanted to order some specialty smoothie. They were out of the key ingredient. She ordered some beet carrot concoction that cost a ton of money. I ordered falafel which was cold and small portion. I saw a small bug in the greens. My wife ordered vegatarian lasagna. It was obviously premade and frozen. Still frozen in the middle. Gross. The bill was over $40 and we were all still hungry. Worst place I ever went when expecting more.
