Pros: Relaxed, local atmosphere Cons: Difficult to find
My first experience with Chumley's was back when I was about 10 years old. My mother held my hand as we circled a typical Greenwich Village city block numerous times, getting colder and crankier while we searched in vain for the restaurant.

Pros: atmosphere, history, beer, people Cons: lack of variety (doesn't seem important, though)

Pros: The feel of the old Greenwich Village Cons: Truly awful food in an area with terrific choices
We'd lived in the Village for years before finally venturing into Chumley's, thinking it would be a kick. Well, it was relatively empty except for some old timers who may not care about the quality of what they eat, but we absolutely hated it and never...
