Pros: It does help me with ALL of my allergy symptoms Cons: The dagburn things still put me to sleep.
Ok folks. I've taken lots of antihistamines, tried them all because they ALL seem to put me to sleep regardless. So I tried this, and yes, Claritin-D Non Drowsy put me to sleep. I did not take more than it says to take on the box, maybe I'm just a light weight, but my mother is the same way, any antihistamine puts us right out. The worst part about the whole deal is that the pills say "12 hour extended release" Oh God! How long am I going to be sleepy (yes I'm on it now because it DOES help with the STUFFY/RUNNY NOSE and since I bought them I'm going to use them.) No dry mouth, but I do feel just a little tipsy... Personally, for most days I use Flonase.
Miracle pill, but non drowsy my left foot! by missmoke ,Dec 28 '06
Pros: works like a charm! Cons: Puts me to sleep!
Kind of a horse pill
As a previous reviewer said, as I've grown older, I've developed allergies. I tried some OTC stuff to no avail. I even tried the Claritin tablets you can get at the grocery store. Meh.
So I went at it with a vengeance because I was tired of sniffling and sneezing and sniffling and blowing and scratching and itching all day. I got some Claritin D. INSTANT relief. And then I fell asleep.
At first I thought I was just because I had lost so much sleep from not being able to breath. But after the 3rd miserably sleepy day at work, I did not take the pill. I was wide awake, but I was sneezing and sniffling and stuffy and blowing blowing blowing my nose.
So now I take it at night. I sleep like the DEAD. But from 10 pm to 10 pm I can breathe like a normal person and I forget about allergies till I start sniffling again.
Will I ever feel normal again? by onlyforkc ,Nov 25 '06
Pros: It did clear my allergies. Cons: Horrible side effects.
I have horrible allergies, and itchy, watery eyes. Upon the advice of my M.D. I was told to take Claritin D. What I wasn't told was that I would be dying of thirst the whole day and feel like I was on Meth. Yes, this product did make my allergies disappear, however, the side effects are not worth it to me. I won't take this again.
Works for allergies and appetite suppression! by reetercat ,Oct 20 '05
Pros: Works fast on itchy everything! Cons: It's like doing speed.
I have been on Claritin since it was prescribed. The Claritin-D tabs are quite speedy and I can't sleep or relax while on them. It certainly works for allergies, but you won't be able to eat.
Helps allergies but I'm SO TIRED! by scalsigner ,Sep 01 '08
Pros: Completely got rid of ALL allergy symptoms: sneezing, red itchy, watery eyes, and trouble breathing. Cons:
I usually sleep 7 hrs./night. Now It's 10hrs. plus a two hour nap.
My terrible allergies are completely gone, but I am exhausted! I have the NON drowsey Claritin fromula, but I will not take another pill! I can't drive my children around town on this stuff! And I won't be able to work like this! It isn't safe! Thanks for your other reviews so I know it's not just me! I'm afraid I will have to go back to the horrible feeling of being sick all the time:sneezing, watery RED itchy eyes and trouble breathing! Too bad the medicine made such a great difference, I would LOVE to be allergy free!
