Pros: Effectively helps to control excess oil while treating and preventing breakouts. Cons: More expensive in price when compared to generic brands; may overdry the skin.
In my seemingly never ending quest to find effective cleansers and anti-acne medications to keep my oily, breakout prone skin type under control and as clear as possible, I've tried just about every product out their gears specifically towards this...
Pros: dries up the pimple quickly Cons: leaves me with a chemical burn
I think nearly everyone who's hit puberty has at least heard of and most likely used Clearasil Vanishing Cream. When you get those gross pimples you want to get rid of them - not now, but yesterday!
Pros: Expiration date printed on tube. It did not cause spontaneous combustion. Cons: Smells bad, irritating, didn't clear up my zit.
Uh-oh! Here we go again! I have a great, big, itchy, painful, subterranean pimple in the usual spot on the side of my chin, which appeared 2 days ago. I was out of my regular treatment, Origins Spot Remover, and to top it all off, I had (and still have)...
Pros: If blended correctly it is undetectable on the skin Cons: May cause dryness, soreness, and swelling
With a teenage son and myself having occasional acne flare- ups, I went to the nearest drug store to find a zit zapper. It'd been a long time since I perused the skin cleansing product aisle. Wow, has it grown! After about an hour of experiencing the...
Pros: inexpensive, dries well, no smell Cons: not vanishing, too much causes redness/drying
I have had acne since I could remember..at least 15 years
now. You would think my hormones would have calmed down
by age 27, but they have not. I am now an adult and still
get the occasional pimple on the oily zones of my face.
I...
Pros: Works Quickly, Doesn't dry out face Cons: Matters a lot what type of skin you have
I purchased the Clearsil Vanishing Treatment Cream for my 18 year old son. He doesn't have really bad acne, but it does act up a lot during football season. He began using this along with the Clearasil Daily Face Wash about 1 year ago.
Pros: Clears up severe acne Cons: Can cause dry, flaky skin
Clearasil is probably the best known of the acne creams, and with good reason. It's the only one in my experience that really works for a serious acne case. I probably wouldn't recommend it to someone with a mild case of acne, because it's very strong,...
Pros: Cleared skin quickly Cons: Left the skin dry
Alright people, let me get the facts down. I'm a teenager with typical teenage problems. One of them being acne. Since the last pimple cream I used didn't work, I decided to go get something new and effective. Clearasil is a brand ...
Pros: strong, effective Cons: can dry out the skin
With teenagers in the house, it stands to reason that we would have occasional need for an anti-acne medication. And over the past couple of years, I think we have tried pretty much every product out there.
Pros: It does make blemishes disappear Cons: Takes off the skin all around it!
I purchased Clearasil Vanishing Cream for the first time probably eighteen years ago in an attempt to zap those pesky breakouts as a teenager. At the time, a little dab really seemed to do the trick. Over the years, my breakouts have become much less...
Pros: Great spot treatment, effective chemical Cons: Inadequate instructions, harsh for most skin types
I used to deal in this stuff quite a bit, smuggling it back and forth across the border as often as possible, with a number of contacts on both sides willing to supply or purchase.
This was back when a ten per cent concentration of benzoyl...
Pros: Gets rid of pimples in days. Guaranteed. Cons: A little pricy and can be dangerous.
I think of this as a classic because it has been out for years and I have used it since I started getting breakouts. This is a fabulous product for teens who have excess oil or for adults who need to control oil and breakouts. I even have family members ...
Pros: Works... sometimes, one tube has lasted me over 6 months. Cons: Doesn't always work, can make blemish more red than it originally was
To cover up, or just to fight? A good question. With Clearasil Cream you have the choice because there is a vanishing cream and a tinted cream! Although I can't comment on the tinted cream because I haven't tried it, I will explain to you about my experi ...
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to find Cons: Extremely drying
In my never-ending quest to control acne, I've made two stops at Clearasil--one in my teens, and one in my twenties. Both times, I've moved on as soon as the tube was empty.
Clearasil Vanishing Cream is the most ubiquitous of acne treatments;...
Pros: It works fast and does not leave dry skin patches. Cons: None.
I used this cream much more regularly during my teenage years. Now that I am older, I still have the occasional battle with blemishes - ZITS! Nobody likes them.
Clearasil cream actually lives up to its name. It is a vanishing cream - it...
Pros: Clears up zits effectively, inexpensive Cons: Can be drying, may not "vanish" if put on too heavily
I've been using Clearasil Vanishing Cream since my awkward junior high years. Since seventh grade, this cream has held my hand through dates, dances, and girls nights out. Even now, during my college years, I continue to use Clearasil Vanishing Cream as...
Pros: inexpensive, easy to use, works well for people with medium skin, good for the occasional pimple, no prescription necessary Cons: Not effective for people with moderate acne, not a serious prescription product, tinted so it wont conceal pimples while it heals them
I do not reccomend this product whatsoever for many reasons...
I found that clearasil was good at fighting an already formed pimple by making it go through the process quicker and then heal but it did little to stop the blemish...
Pros: dries different types of acne well and in a reasonable amount of time Cons: can cause slight redness; can be excessively drying for some
Most people who know me don't realize I have the oiliest skin on the planet. Over the years, I've been to at least 10 dermatologists, and I've tried lots of topical prescription products for acne. Clearasil is still one of the most effective, and one...
I love the Clearisil Cleansers, and I wanted something to go with them, so I bought the Clearasil Vanishing Cream thinking I'd love it too. I guess not all the products are reliable.
The first night I used this I had a big fat zit...
Pros: Dries up pimple Cons: Dries up face, leaves white residue
Advertisement: The highest concentration available 10% benzoyl peroxide is in this light, disappearing cream that heals pimples fast. Use as a spot treatment on an existing pimple or wherever you see a blemish forming.Dries up and helps heal pimples...
Pros: A mild concealer for small zits. Cons: Dry,pasty, tinted kind dries up in the tube, and more!
Okay, I admit pimples are annoying. You think "vanishing cream" and you think of a miracle cure right? Wrong. Here is my 3 year long venture into clearasil vanishing cream.
Pros: Sometimes helps fight blemishes, fairly inexpensive. Cons: Usually doesn't work, dries out skin, leaves white stuff on your face.
The Perks
I have been using Clearasil Vanishing Cream (CVC) for a long time now, so I know that it lasts quite awhile. I couldn't tell you exactly how long, as it depends on how much you use, how often you use it, and how bad your acne...
Pros: Works really well when used overnight; 1 tube lasts forever Cons: May be too harsh for some?
I have been using Clearasil Maximum Strength Vanishing Acne Treatment Cream for several years now. The active ingredient is 10% benzoyl peroxide, which may be too harsh for some. Personally, I have very sensitive skin and this has neither burned me...
Pros: gets rid of acne and clears skin Cons: causes red, itchy, peely skin; horrible smell
I know this acne cream has been around for like ages and that's probably because it works for a majority of people and while yes--it does get rid of acne and clears your skin...it will come at the price of your skin's moisture and top layer. I only tried ...
Just because it says that it has the most blemish fighting ingredient in it without a prescription, doesn't mean that there aren't others that have the EXACT same amount. I, being in a hurry, saw the bold letters on the little cardboard box that held the...
Pros: Vanishes in an instant. Cons: Uhh.. it doesn't work.
I can remember being teased in fourth grade because I had a pimple on my forehead. I'm not trying to relive some painful, childhood experience here - just trying to give you a taste of how long I've had problems with my skin for. My mother used to take...
This cream contains the same acne-fighting ingredient as the other drugstore brands (and some of the fancier creams). When applied carefully, it kills the bacteria in the skin and it doesn't dry out the skin or cause irritation.
Pros: It works wonders Cons: Time restrictions to use it
Have you ever been so embarrassed that you just wanted to crawl into a hole and die?? That is exactly what happened to me when I used this product directly before my Winterball at college. I put it on and it turned my face white! On the other hand, it...
Pros: Removes Blemishes, Inexpensive, Not a strong smell Cons: Can dry certain parts of skin
I have been using clearasil for about 5 years and in my opinion it works very well. I apply it all over my face at night before bed, and when I wake up my skin is clearly better (no pun intended!). The only thing it doesn't work very well on is...
Pros: cleared up zits pretty well. Cons: dried out my skin, stinks
I first used this product when I was 13-years old. I had zits all over my face and was desperate for anything that would help get rid of them. My mom bought me the Clearasil Vanishing Cream and it really DID get rid of my zits. However, that's the...
I love Clearasil Vanishing Cream! I am so excited that I finally found an over the counter product that works on my acne! I have tried almost everything out there. So far I find Clearasil Vanishing Cream the best and I don't think I am going to have to...
I use skin care products fairly everyday for my skin. I have OK skin. My skin isn't that suspectible to breakouts, but I have some imperfections like scars from scratches but they aren't very noticeable. However, I do take good care of my skin....
Pros: Effective indeed! Cons: Use sparingly to avoid irritation.
This product is very effective, but use it with some caution. For those with easily irritated (or not so easily irritated skin) beware of the potential side effects of this product. With a whopping 10% benzoyl peroxide too much Clearasil vanishing...
Pros: Works. Does exactly what it claims. Cons: Will bleach clothing.
This is one of those things that has been around forever and will never be replaced. There are many products out there trying to do the same thing but never succeed. Most of us discover Clearisil in our teens. Like myself, we keep in our medicine...
Pros: Helps shrink zits Cons: Smells funny, dried out my skin
I was afflicted with a mild/moderate case of acne during my late teenage years. Eventually I ended up going to a dermatologist and getting a presciption for Accutane, which gave me an almost-perfection complexion after six months of taking it. Looking...
Ok, I admit. This stuff is totally great, but there is a "side effect."
This stuff prevents ZITS like water stops fire. I come from a family in which all the kids had major zit problems as teenagers. Luckily, clearasil was there for me...
Pros: Name brand and cheap. Cons: Pasty film left on skin.
I purchased this product to help rid myself of pesky pimples that still plaque me even at 27. The product is of a well known brand name and so I assumed it would be effective. The cost was relative to other products and so I thought I would give it a...
Pros: cheap and effective Cons: can cause redness or dry skin
I really like this product. Before I stuck with it, I used Clean and Clear, Oxy, Clinique, etc. But I have used this product for years because it is cheap and effective.
Benzol Peroxide, the main ingredient, works by drying out the problem areas....
Pros: Won't get rid of the zits but sure helps hide 'em... Cons: Can't we make this more affordable for the kiddies out there?
Seeing this category brings me back to my teen years when my old man wouldn't use the same bathroom towel that I did. I was a jock back then (if you've been reading my stuff you can figure that out), and let me tell you, the smog on the streets of NYC...
I am 25 years old and during the summer months, when I am sweating I sometimes get pimples at my hair line . It is really annoying since I this is a new problem and only seems to be related to sweat and not skin problems.
Pros: Dries up and helps to clear big pimples, a tube lasts a long time Cons: Can overdry surrounding skin, and the pimple itself, can be a little bit expensive
I had been using this cream for about one week, and I was not very happy with it. After that first week, I didn't even bother to use it. I soon found out that was because I was using it incorrectly. I was using it on small zits, and rubbing the cream...
Pros: Effective at preventing zits before they appear, reduces the oiliness of oily skin Cons: Pricey compared to generic products, dries out skin
Rather simple process, you clean your face, put it on and hope it works and well it does. The key thing I found about this product in order to be effective it is to use it daily and be sure your face is clean before applying. If used correctly it will...
Pros: drys up pimples Cons: drys skin, and can cause severe irritation or redness on sensitive skin
I picked up Clearasil Vanishing Cream at a drugstore because I was breaking out bad that month.I have combination skin so I thought I was making a good choice at the time. I washed my face with Clearasil daily face wash that night and applied the...
Pros: dries up pimple quickly Cons: not very vanishing, kind of irritating
This product, besides the fact that it doesn't really vanish, is great for clearing up any pimples, big or small. I love the fact that you can put it on, and in about two days the protrusion on your face just disappears. If you don't have sensitive...
Pros: Doesn't burn, itch, or cause your face to peel. Cons: DOES NOT WORK!
Being a teenager, I get a lot of zits now. I decided to try Clearasil Vanishing Cream to get rid of them. Every day I use the Clearasil Daily Face Wash to thoroughly wash my face (the face wash works great). I would then apply the cream...
Do you have acne or pimples and zits you would like to clear up? Would you like a painless and easy way to do it? Then, I have an answer for you. Clearasil Vanishing Cream. It is a little bottle of cream that reduces and actually prevents pimples...
Pros: Dries out zits (sometimes) Cons: White streaks, does not work
I purchased this product to help clear up minor acne problems. I used this product, and it didn't do much for my skin problem. As a matter of fact, I have an acne "scar" that has been on my face for well over a month now, and this product has...
I used to use this product when I was a teenager. I never really got bad acne, as my family was blessed with somewhat beautiful skin. My breakouts consisted of just a small blemish here or there. Well, one day, I decided to try Clearasil to get rid of a...
Pros: I got my money back Cons: causes rash, didn't clear up blemish
This has to be the worst skin product I've ever used.
I've used it for two weeks and my blemishes didn't clear up a bit. In fact it made my skin dry out. Then, my face started to itch. My skin was really irritated for a while. When I discovered...
Pros: Dried out oily skin Cons: Doesn't do much of anything else!
I've used this product on many occasions, and I've found that it isn't all that effective. All it really does is dry out whatever part of your skin that you apply it to. It often leaves white streaks, and has a slight ammonia-like smell. If you apply...
Pros: Blend with Skin Tone Cons: The coloring cause dark marks after heal
For those who are not familiar with the product. There are two types of Clearasil Vanishing cream: Regular and Tint. They both work with same effect. Regular cream came out as the usual white cream and as for the Tint one...it came out as...
Pros: inexpensive Cons: not available in department stores
I admit that I am biased because I do sell AVON but our products are excellent and inexpensive. I have 2 teenage children who are using the Clearskin line and loving it. You can get gel wash, astringent wash, mask and overnight treatments but that is...
Pros: does what it's supposed to Cons: slightly drying
It's not perfect, but it works. I have been using this product on and off since I was in middle school. I use it in the morning (lightly in spots) under my moisturizer and at night in oily areas. This product does help get rid of pimples, but it is a bit...
Pros: clear skin, dries up,lightweight Cons: leaves white residue
I had a lot of pimples when I was in intermediate school so one day my sister recommended this cream. I couldn't believe my eyes because I put it on before I went to bed; the next morning it was dried up. My pimples started going away within 3 days....
Cheaper brands work just as well by justagirl333 ,May 30 '04
Pros: Helps with pimples Cons: Can be too expensive, dryness
I saw the commercials and the ads in magazines and it does help pimples. I ran out of Clearasil one day and I didn't have enough to get a new tube, I saw a cheaper brand next to it that say on the box 'same active ingredient as Clearasil' I had enough and bought it and to my surprise, since it was cheaper, it worked just as well as the big C. It works, but there are other brands out there just as good. Plus, when I used it...I got this awful dry patch of skin that I couldn't cover up with foundation, plus the redness. Make sure to only start with one application a day/night.
Not the best acne product by grizabella ,Apr 02 '04
Pros: um...didn't dry out skin Cons: doesn't clear up acne- severe or otherwise.
If you have severe acne, this product won't help. I used it for months and it didn't help me at all- not even on the little zits that it probably should work on. It didn't irritate or dry out my skin, so I can see it maybe on working on someone with sensitive skin and relatively problem free skin...
Pros: Dries up some zits rather quickly. Cons: Can be too drying, too irritating for others and may not work.
As a teenager I really didnt get pimples all that much.I'd get one here or there and when I did,a dab of clearasil would usually dry it up in a day or so.
Over the years,I have found it to lose it's effectiveness. I even found that it began to make pimples seem bigger,my face red and more swollen than before. Some people in fact can have a severe allergic reaction to B.P. (Benzoyol peroxide) I think I developed a mild one.
I think if you have a good tolerance to B.P. then this may work well for you at drying up those pesky occasional dots. For others like me,you may be too sensitive or your pimples may require the care of a dermatologist.
Worth a try.
