Possibly the best wedge ever made.

by ice_cap , Apr 04 '01
Pros: Solid feel, great spin, and reasonable priced.
Cons: Color will fade, not good for soft cover balls.
Before purchasing this wedge, I was using a PING EYE and the grooves have completely worn out. I had my mind set on buying either the Cleveland 588 or Titleist Vockey and eventually chose the 588 Gunmetal 56* SW. Here's why...

I didn't buy the...

Cut's through Grass

by hchauhan , Dec 30 '00
Pros: Looks, Good Divots
Cons: Price
I bought a GunMetal Lob wedge about 2 months ago. I have played more than 15 rounds with it so far.

First impressions were that this wedge easily cuts through turf like a hot knife cutting through butter. The divots are clean, square and...

I love my wedge

by jenlee , Mar 31 '00
Pros: Beautiful finish. Soft touch. Excellent feel. Great spin.
Cons: Not available for women. Yet.
Why should women be left out in the cold when it comes to wedges? There is definitely a poor selection in the market for women's wedges, as if women never got stuck in the sand. I took it upon myself to get a good wedge. This is my second men's wedge,...

Do you feel lucky...punk?

by bosh2000 , Jul 11 '01
Pros: looks, feel, and results!
Cons: wish the finish would last forever
“Do you feel lucky, punk?” This line from Clint Eastwood’s classic movie “Dirty Harry” is something that comes to mind whenever I play with my Cleveland GunMetal wedge. Obviously, the term "gunmetal" makes one think of Dirty Harry and his trusty 45....

Very Soft, Very Good

by golfer3 , Jan 12 '00
Pros: Heavy, and Soft
Cons: none
I recently got the 56* and the 60* Gunmetal wedges, and I love them. They are easy to work with around the green, especially with different speeds and different slopes. I love the fact that they are heavy, and soft. They are heavy, that makes it...

This is the Club for the Golfing Type

by stxgolf21 , Jan 17 '00
Pros: Use it anywhere around the greens
Cons: mainly for the advanced golfer
The Cleveland GunMetal Wedge is a great club for the advanced golfing type. With its black color its does not reflect the sunlight, unlike the normal stainless steel wedges. This club gives you optimum spin, so that you can land it on the green making...

by Joyride141 , Feb 10 '00
Pros: amazing feel, accurate
Cons: slightly short, ugly as heck
This is a really great wedge. I think CLeveland has again founda winner.

Feel: Amazing! this is about the softest wedge ever made I really recomened it to a player looking for great feel.

Distance: Its a wedge, its not really made...

What a steal!

by jalbanh , Jul 24 '00
Pros: EVERYTHING!
Cons: NOT A THING!
After purchasing my cleveland wedge, I immediately used the club to hit a few practice balls off the mat at the store. The incredible feel and soft touch you get with the club is almost undescribable. If you are looking to step up you game around the...

THE wedge!!!

by mykuan , Sep 06 '00
Pros: Soft feel, no glare, great looks
Cons: Can't think of any
I recently made the decision to ditch my Ping Zing W and S wedges and bought a 51* Approach and a 56* Sand from Cleveland, both of which were of the gun metal finish. What a decision! I can get anything from 100 yards, whether from the short stuff,...

What a great club

by Daved12 , Dec 24 '00
Pros: This club produces as much spin as needed and does not have sun glare like other wedges. It also glides through the rogh fairly easy.
Cons: Hitting this club may take getting used to.
This club is a new addition to the already great wedge line by cleveland. The gunmetal finish reduces glare. The wedge also has a very good ability to cut right through the heavy rough. The wedge also can be hit to produce as much backspin as a shot...

the wedge for me

by careylee , Jul 17 '01
Pros: great feel, great spin
Cons: finish will wear off

#1 Wedge

by tuz5 , Jul 16 '01
Pros: great feel, spin and looks
Cons: face wears to a chrome color (con?)
Cleveland has done it again! The Cleveland Gunmetal is stylish and easy to spin. These wedges do not dig- i mean do not produce 8 inch long divots, and allow the player to get the club on the ball with ease, especially in the bunker and long rough. I...

60 Degree 588 Gunmetal
by mm215 ,Nov 02 '04
Pros: Great wear characteristics. Better than the chrome!
Cons: May hit a little farther and you might have to rethink distances.
For the past three years I utilized a 57 degree 588 chrome from 100 yards in and around the green. A mishap caused me to run over the club with the cart. Enter the 60 degree 588 gunmetal. It has incredible feel and durability and has actually reduced my handicap by five from an 11 to a 6. It gives me supreme confidence within a 100 yards.
