Pros: Malcolm McDowell did a fine job, in his portrayal of this ultra-violence loving sociopath. Cons: Kubrick seemed to love to smother u with an engorgement of nakedness
More often than not, I find myself lost when viewing "Old by decades" movies. Like this one, which surpasses me with about 30 yrs. I find myself conflicted by it.. and left wondering what the point was. Wondering if its the movie or the fact that I ...

Pros: Interesting concept, good acting and direction Cons: Scenes of rape, a movie only for very mature audiences
Stanley Kubrick is one of my favorite directors. Its ironic too since I don't always like to see violence and sex used in movies just to promote them. Yet when Kubrick uses these, he knows how to treat them, and there seems to be a reason for them....

Pros: Kubrick's Direction/Script, Music, Look, Production, & Cast including McDowell. Cons: None.
After achieving an artistic masterpiece with the 1968 sci-fi film 2001: A Space Odyssey, Stanley Kubrick was at a level that many other directors couldn't achieve. He had become the ultimate auteur with such diverse films like Lolita, ...

Pros: Top notch filmmaking, excellent performances Cons: Violent and disturbing
Kubrick's post modern masterpiece hasn't lost anything with age, but I highly doubt it would cause the uproar it did if it were released now. The violence and rape is still graphic, but seriously, American Pie was more offensive and this, and American ...

Pros: Thought provoking study of violence and society, GREAT soundtrack Cons: Extreme violence, unlikeable characters
This movie, A Clockwork Orange, presents a weird dichotomy for me. This is probably my favorite movie, but, I never enjoy watching it. It is a grim, dark film which depicts a grim, dark and basically hopeless future. There is not one...

Pros: A genuinely funny film, cleverly disguised to distract the viewers' attention. Cons: Of course, children won't get it -- but why should they have all the fun?
The idea that Stanley Kubrick filmed a comedy has probably seldom occurred to anyone in connection with A Clockwork Orange (1971). We have only to compare, say, Dr. Strangelove (1964) to realize that Kubricks comedies are ...
