Pros: Fast, friendly, and free lollipops. Cons: ... none?
Switched to Commerce from Bank of America... No fees for me ever. Free Checks for the first year. Free Debit card, only 100 dollars minimum balance. And the tellers there are fast and know what they are doing. Also at my branch the tellers are pretty hot :) just kidding. but seriously the branches are really nice, everyone is friendly, and the deposits hit my account in a day, unlike BOA which took a week at times.
Very responsive and accessible by mikelley ,Jul 02 '08
Pros: Live customer service during non-business hours. Print ATM card in store. Convenient hours. Cons: The automated systems are rigid, which can create complications. Some locations have perpetual line.
I had an issue with my account being closed, by an automated system, when I had a zero balance over consecutive days. (I am a student.) They were very helpful in getting it back open and assisted me in restoring the link with my cash reserve account. I made a call at midnight, with low expectations, but a real person and had it resolved by the time I hung up.
Very Expensive Hidden Fees!! by cryptic582 ,Nov 15 '08
Pros: convenient hours, many locations Cons: Extremely expensive, very high hidden fees
I opened several Commerce (now TD) accounts about a year ago and was happy with the hours, service, etc. However, only recently did I discover that they charge you $15 if your account falls below $100 for any one day, not a monthly average-FOR ONLY ONE DAY-this is equal to $180 a year for a checking account (and $900 total for the 5 accounts I have for my family). Ridiculous. I was never told about this fee. After calling their service number the fee was waived, but I will be closing all of my accounts. No amount of service is worth charging 5 times more than any other bank.
Commerce TD Banknoth = Negative for Consumers by rjtc115 ,Jul 23 '08
Pros: They have great hours, open 7 days a week. Cons: Fees, Fees and more Fees. Customer service going down hill.
I have been with Commerce Bank for about 3 years after leaving Bank of America (which I consider to be one of the worst banks out there for more reasons that I could possibly mention.) Anyways after switching to Commerce I was extremely happy. We opened up a joint account as well as my business account there. Both accounts were no fee accounts and the other fees associated with normal banking were considerbly lower than other banks. About 1 year ago I noticed that they started charging monthly fees for checking account (both personal and business) that does not carry their minimum balance, about 6 months ago they raised their ATM withdrawal fees for non-Commerce account holders from $1.50 to $2.50 per withdrawal and today when I went in I noticed that they just raised that ATM fee to $3.00. In addition if you happen to make a mistake and incur a overdraft fee that is now $35.00. Furthermore they also have this unavailable funds fee also of $35.00 which never makes sense. I am so upset at Commerce that I am ready to switch.
