Not all bad...

by GR8AV8R , Dec 15 '05
Pros: Tread wear, road noise, low cost
Cons: Picks up a lot of rocks. Other reviews have been less than favorable.
These tires are the standard factory fitment for new Ford Expeditions...my 2004 came with them, and I was skeptical. On dry roads, traction is excellent and noise is normal. On wet roads, which I live with nearly daily here in Seattle, the traction is ...

Should be taken off the market....thank you FORD !

by hamfisted , Dec 18 '02
Pros: Cheap, Cheap and Cheap OEM tire.
Cons: Egg-Shaped, Won't balance, Rough Ride, Lousy grip, A Recall Waiting to Happen
These Continentals were original equipment on my new '03 Ford Expedition. They are a low bid OEM tire. In the first month of ownership I was back at the dealer several times trying to get either these tires balanced out or a replacement brand put on the...

JUNK JUNK JUNK
by fat51 ,Jan 14 '06
Pros: They were black and had white lettering.
Cons: Never buy Continental tires or any they make!
Just had dealer remove from 05 Ford F150. Paid difference for Michelin. Had in shop 4 times(had balanced 3 times) for bouncing and bumping. Truck has 4000 miles, and started the day I drove off lot. Ford Rep and service manager both agreed it was not the tires. Rides and drives like a dream since tires were replaced. If you have these tires and experience this problem TAKE THEM BACK, and change brands. Continental tires had about 6" of weight (inside and out) on all four tires, Michelin have 1/2" weights on each tire!! Was told by another Ford dealer that Continental tires were JUNK! Glad they are GONE!!!!!!

Decent OE tire
by guard6220 ,Jun 26 '09
Pros: treadwear was even,if rotated, road noise isnt bad, decent looking
Cons: tread life, horrible in rainy weather, picks up rocks alot
This tire came OE on my 2007 Ford Ranger.Ive put about 30k miles on them and now they are down to 3/32 of an inch which means its time for new tires. They have mostly been driven on highways and interstate and have performed well.I would expect more mileage from OE equipment but i guess they only try and put tires on that last about as long as the warranty.LOL. Another thing to note these tires are not recommended for any type of wet driving. Well at least there not recommended by me.

Low mileage tires
by furf ,Dec 16 '03
Pros: 60K mileage warranty Low noise tread design Typical OEM replacement tire
Cons: Tire wears quickly Bad pro-rate on tire replacement Vibrates after balancing
I replaced some Pathfinders on my 12 passenger 1999 Dodge RamVan (B2500) with the Continental tire. These tires are rated at 60K miles. I have already had to replace two of them after 18K miles! I was only given 1/3 of the purchase price per tire for a pro-rate when I replaced them. Maybe I had front-end damage and needed an alignment. I have had the front-end inspected and an alignment has been done. This process will be performed every year just to see if this helps. If I get low mileage out of the second pair, I am not going back to these tires!!! So far I am NOT impressed. The Pathfinders were noisier, but they sure lasted a lot longer.

WORST TIRES ON EARTH
by walleyking58 ,Jun 04 '07
Pros: They wear out fast so you can buy something else.
Cons: Expect to replace every 15,000 miles. Wear uneven. Just plan bad.
With out a doubt these are the worst tires I have every owned. After 17,000 miles they are so unevenly worn they are junk. Rotated every 5000 miles just as recommended by the dealer. They were loud and vibrated badly. Were new on a 2005 escape.

WORST - 2 sets in 40,000 Miles
by montegobaymom ,Jan 14 '09
Pros: I cannot think of a pro for this tire.
Cons: Too many to list.
I have had to have 2 sets of Contitrac SUV tires on my Expedition and am now looking at getting the 3rd set and I only have 40,000 miles on my vehicle.  BOTH sets have rotted, split, including side wall, and worn within 20,000 miles.  I do not off road, or park in puddles, this is my mom-mobile so it is strickly to and from schools, baseball, stores, etc.
Continental replaced the first set due to defect, but will not replace the 2nd, even though they are doing exactly the same thing as told to them by the dealership.
I would never trust this company or product again.  They are garbage.

Perhaps Continental CrappyRiders is a better name
by pygmon ,Feb 28 '06
Pros: The truck will roll on them.
Cons: Pick up debris easily and CONSTANTLY out of balance.
These came new on my Brand New '04 F150 SuperCrew Ford p/u. The MAJOR problem is they PICK up EVERY SINGLE small pebble or stone and the tread becomes loaded with them. This causes the tires to become unbalanced and they CANNOT be balanced unless the debris is removed...EVERY BIT of it. Only problem is, after your balance job you continue to pick up the small pieces of trash and it is a never ending circle. It's great to have a NEW truck and it rides like a 6-ton logging truck. You can actually see the bed BOUNCING from the out-of-balance tires. Summary: They stink. I've got ONLY 20K miles on them and as soon as I find a REPUTABLE tire...THEY ARE HISTORY. Thanks Ford. Thanks a whole LOT.

ContiTouring Contact Tires 19"
by thebauer ,May 25 '07
Pros: Tire looks nice
Cons: Who cares
I just bought a new Crossfire with Continental Tires. After 600 miles---thats 600 miles a piece of wood 3/8 inch by 1/8 pierced the tire where the side wall meets the tread. Really difficult to understand this. The Chrysler dealers said, the issue is between me and tire company and that is understandable and ok. I paid $336.26 to replace this tire. I called customer service at Continental to explain this situation and ask for some financial assistance. I fully understand that is considered a road hazard but was shocked by the customer service person, "Joe" 5PM Friday May 25 who said, "well that is to be expected the tires are soft and will not last long." His attitude was really a "stone-walling" and that is ok as well. He needs to protect the company. No one else was available for me to speak with, holiday weekend but "Joe" promised someone will call next week on Tuesday.

Question, I have the tire and the piece of wood---whom can I take this material to discuss "Are these tires really safe on a performance car like a Crossfire?"

Problem? None here...
by mcc300 ,Jul 06 '06
Pros: If maintained, great tread life.
Cons: Noisy with wear, noisy when not properly inflated
I've got a 2003 Escape 4x4 and 80 mile round trip to-from work each weekday.

Just keep them rotated and they seem to work fine. I need to get them replaced now.... after 68,000 miles! Maybe they're not as good for larger trucks.
