Pros: Easygoing, smooth pop/soul perfect for hot summer nights. Cons: For those with limited attention spans, this album may be one 46 minute blur.
I (like most others who own this album) have VH-1 to thank for my discovery of British songbird Corinne Bailey Rae. It was very easy to see what attracted me to her music. First, she's a Black artist that doesn't do what constitutes "traditional" R&B ...
Pros: Phenomenal voice, excellent production, great lyrics....what's not to love! Cons: Absolutely none.
I was watching VH1 soul the other day when I made note of a new, fresh singer named Corinne Bailey Rae. Much like India Arie a few years ago, Rae struck me as a breath of fresh air as she rode her bike casually singing about putting records ...
Pros: relaxing lyrics and sound, vocal Cons: some songs not as upbeat
Corinne Bailey Rae? I had never heard of her until I heard a song on the radio called Put Your Records On. It wasnt the type of song that I usually find myself listening to but it had a good beat and sound. Over the last few weeks, I ...
Pros: Pleasant voice overall, needed new blood in the U.S. R&B arena. Cons: The artist has a rather compressed octave range.
Original Release Date: June 20, 2006 Genre: Soul/R&B Label: Capitol Records Number of Discs: (1) Are you experiencing a new British invasion this time in the form of Soul/R&B performers? First young blond locked Joss ...
Songstress Corinne Bailey Raes self titled debut is a breath of fresh air, and a bit of a surprise to me. With every year that passes, the mainstream becomes more and more clogged with mindless, soulless drivel. One would think this condition ...
Pros: Original tunes, vocals behind the beat, light horns Cons: will end up getting lost next to Norah Jones - sometimes too mellow
Corinne Bailey Rae is a defiant artist, not angry, just genre resistant. She'll get airplay on the R&B stations; she gets airplay on the smooth jazz stations next to Norah and Michael McDonald (which is probably a shame). At least when those stations ...
Pros: um...pretty much everything. Cons: the tempo isn't for everyone.
Oh, no. The invasion has occurred. They’re…they’re everywhere. They all just seemed to come from nowhere and now they’re slowly taking over the world. Its like the just…keep…multiplying… Um, what am I talking about?! Why, the rise of the ...
Pros: thoughtful lyrics, soft, soothing, easy to enjoy with company Cons: none
Introduction Corinne Bailey Rae emerged on my music scene almost a year from this review. (Well, that's not entirely true. She had done a couple of collaborations with British artists, and thought it was "cheeky" to start an all-girl rock ...
Pros: Simply gorgeous British soul Cons: Simply gorgeous elevator music (at times)
When it comes to it’s music, America seems to have a general love for most things British - be it temporary (Spice Girls, Craig David, Robbie Williams) or long-term (The Beatles, Elton John, Coldplay). So when new British import Corinne Bailey Rae ...
Pros: Great vocal ability, beautiful and well-written songs, nice summer soundtrack... Cons: ...a few songs are a bit boring
I was watching The Tonight Show with Jay Leno one evening when he introduced a new artist from the UK, Corinne Bailey Rae. I was immediately captivated by the soft vocals and catchy beat that made up her single, Put Your Records On. ...
Pros: Easy listening. Relaxing. All age appropriate. Cons: Mainly suits the female audience.
Corinne Bailey Rae Her voice is soothing. I’m drawn to her sound, it’s foreign. Her sound is unique, raspy yet sweet. Her sound is fresh, different, nothing like I’ve heard from current artists. It would say this CD fits in the Blues, R&B, ...
Pros: Echoes of the great soul songs of the '70s. Cons: Why did Corinne not win any Grammy Awards ??
Corinne Bailey Rae is an extraordinarily talented R&B singer from Leeds, England. She was the second artist to be extensively promoted through Starbucks in the past year (the first was Sonia Kitchell). I first found out about Corinne through a Starbucks ...
a broke macy gray & a broke norah jones by danzoolo ,Feb 08 '07
Pros: corinne has a nice voice Cons: boring material
this record is ok but a lot of it is hit and a lot of miss. corinne bailey rae just comes off as another "stand-in" for norah jones or macy gray which are two boring artists to start with. nothing stands out either it just sound like 45 minutes of dead air after hearing the single put your records on. even that song sounds like a b-side off a india arie or macy gray single. nothing new and nothing better from corinne bailey rae just kind of a broke macy gray really. she tries to be macy gray but its not as good as her works and all the songs are the same.
