I like this seat and so does the baby!
by canadacandy ,Feb 25 '04
Pros: price, looks comfy, 5 point harness, easy instillation Cons: straps twist
I love this seat! She loves it too! Its big, but fits in our car no problem, and I love the ease of instillation.
The Straps twist sometimes, but with a couple extra second worth of care, that isn't a problem!
I love the harness, and I love the ease to adjust the belts.

Too Small-no growing room!!!
by kmc6000 ,Mar 18 '06
Pros: Dark Color
Soft Fabric Cons: Size
No cup holder
We bought this car seat after retiring from our Peg-Perego infant carry car seat. My daughter is tall & heavy for her age. At age 3 she's 38lbs & 42" & she is already too big for this 'convertible' car seat. Not knowing there was a difference we purchased a 2nd car seat (Cosco-Eddie Bauer 22682) about a year a go for our other vehicle & it was then that we noticed that she fit a lot better & had more room. The Alpha Omega Elite is said to be convertible & we had intentions to use it for a few years & as a booster at some point. We did not realize our daughter would outgrow it since it does say 100lbs. For what it is worth there is a difference in sizes-not by appearance, but definitely in comfort

Seat was just ok
by limeade ,Jan 07 '04
Pros: Easy to install Cons: Straps twist
Our seat cracked down the side.
We had this seat for our son. It was easy to install and comfortable, but the straps twisted a lot and eventually the side of the seat just cracked. Cosco does have excellent customer service and they gave us a full refund, no questions asked, but overall I was not just thrilled with the seat.

Good carseat for the price...
by deke13 ,Dec 20 '04
Pros: Five-point restraint and ease of use. Cons: Twisty straps.
This is an easy carseat to use. It grows with your child up through and into booster seat age. It has a cup holder and storage net connected to the seat. It also has a detachable head rest. I bought this when my daughter was too big for a handheld carrier. I love the ease of adjusting the seat. It's especially nice in the Fall when we have days where our daughter needs to wear a heavier coat. With one pull of a lever, we can adjust the amount of strap material so that she's not buckled too tight. If she's had a long day and is sleepy, we can pull another lever and put her carseat into a more reclined position. The only drawback is the straps. They constantly twist because they aren't very stiff. Every time we put our daughter into the seat, we have to untwist the straps so the don't pinch her. Unfortunately, we haven't found any brand of carseat with a more stiff set of straps.

Pretty Good
by ripcaster ,Dec 01 '03
Pros: Easily adjustable, EASY TO BUCKLE, only one seat to get them through the early years. Cons: Make sure it's level, can be difficult to pull tension strap for harness.
Anyone that has a hard time buckling this thing should go back to kindergarten to work on their motor skills.. Somebody equated the chest buckle to a puzzle... A TWO PIECE PUZZLE!! There's nothing puzzling about it! Someone else said they needed three hands.. Try doing each step individually and you won't have a problem.
Any normal person not expecting this thing to buckle itself up for you should find this seat quite simple and straightforward.
That said, when used as a rear facing seat, it impacts the front seats (used in the middle), and it's a bit difficult to tighten the harness.. However, we get around that by leaving it in the same position and buckling/unbuckling without changing anything else.. It's also imperative to have the base leveled out, so use a pool noodle or a few rolled up towels.

my favorite car seat!!!!
by mothermindy ,Oct 01 '03
Pros: Easy to adjust
grows with child
very safe Cons: too large to use with new born
I love this car seat. It is very easy to adjust!! As your child grows you can adjust the belts with just one hand. When they are old enough to need a booster just take out the straps and there you go a booster. Although it says that you can use it from infant to booster seat it is rather large to use with a new born. I have 3 children two of them are in this car seat and the youngest will be moving into one very soon. It is well worth the money.

Eddie Bauer 3 in 1
by elwooddog ,Mar 09 '04
Pros: up to 80lbs; can be used as a booster; Cons: straps twist easily; not enough padding in lower back portion
I thought this seat was great because it seemed comfortable and could be used as a booster. However, the straps get twisted all the time, and they are NOT easy to untwist. Apparently this is a common complaint -- not just on this particular carseat. I'm currently shopping for another carseat b/c my second child is now 21 lbs and too large for the infant carrier. I'd be drawn to this same carseat again, but because the straps twist so easily -- I'm looking for a different one.

Few complaints even after 4.5 years.
by sydmac ,Feb 02 '05
Pros: 3-in-1 saves money overall, they look great and are generally easy to adjust. Cons: Straps get twisted and the tether is hard to adjust.
Both my daughters(ages:2.5 & 4.5) have grown up in the Alpha Omega and it has been great. I would recommend an Infant carrier for the first few months, though my youngest went in it at 2 months, she hated her carrier. It is easy to adjust the straps up and down, you don't need to re-thread. It is easy to recline back and forth also. The straps do get twisted but it hasn't been a major concern for me...I just untwist them. My 4 year old has it as a booster now and it is great. The girls sleep really well in them and find them to be comfortable, I believe they are padded more than others.
Overall I have been really happy with them and I am glad I have saved money in not having to buy separate booster seats.
They wash well also, I have washed them in the washing machine and did very well. (on delicate, in cold water)

My premature son has grown out of his rear facing carrier.
by jessicascott ,Feb 05 '04
Pros: Durability, padding, 5 point harness, size, and the tilt option. Cons: A little hard to buckle when in a hurry.
My son was born extremely premature, and I had to buy a specific kind of carrier in order for him to leave the hospital. He has since grown out of it (they only hold up to 26" and he is 27 1/2"). I was told about this car seat by 2 of my friends who raved about it and thought I'd do some research. My experience with the Alpha Omega has been a wonderful experience. At first I was a little frustrated because I couldn't get it in rear facing, but once I figured it out, I loved it! I bought this product because of it's durability, comfort/padding, safety, and price. I actually bought the floor model (the only one left) and got it $40.00 off MSRP. I love the fact that there is so much more padding on this car seat, and I also love the little detachable pillow (for when they are older). The size is also a major thing for me. I already have a toddler in a car seat, and I own a small saturn. This car seat is more narrow then all the rest, which I loved!

Its worth the money!
by grayelephantz ,Mar 08 '04
Pros: Everything.....Its a great seat. Cons: The harness clip that goes between the legs is kind of screwy to do!
Our daughter is 9 months old and ready for a new car seat. We've looked at everything on the market. We setteled on the AO seat from Toys R Us. Great buy. She loves it. She used to cry when she was put in her old seat this one she loves! And so do we!

Cosco Alpha Omega passed the ultimate test
by vicpat ,Dec 15 '05
Pros: Easy adjustments, fast and secure buckling, easy to convert from forward to rear facing Cons: The plastic piece covering the seat when you feed the seat belt through gets caught.
We shopped like crazy for new car seats for both of our girls, who at the time were ages 1 and 2 1/2. We had very specific criteria:
1. Had to be priced under $ 125
2. Had to work facing forward and back
3. Had to support up to 40 lbs.
4. Had to be "plush"
5. Had to have a five point harness
Our choice was clear, it was the Cosco Alpha Omega 5 pt.
We were not disappointed. The first one was for our older girl. It was easy to install (unlike many car seats). The harness holds secure and is quick to buckle. It adjust forward tilt easily. It even adjusts easily to shift from front facing to rear facing.
We liked it so much that we bought a second one for our other car.

Well worth every penny!
by lunarfeme ,Nov 03 '05
Pros: easy installation, five point harness adjusts easily, we just love it Cons: seat cover is a little tricky to get off for washing
We bought this car seat for our daughter and loved it so much that we bought another for our toddler to replace hers. Works well as a rear facing seat too. The five point harness is great. With the reclining option we have no problem with sore necks after a nap while driving.

Easy to use and one seat for everything
by squintz22 ,Mar 12 '04
Pros: long life span, easy install, comfy Cons: puzzle buckle pointless, hard to adjust straps when rear-facing
We liked this car seat so much we bought a second one for our other vehicle. It is easy to install tightly, and seems to be very comfortable to ride in. We used it rear-facing, though not until either of our children was 4 months old and holding their head up well. I loved that it was rear-facing for so long and I could keep my daughters safer past their first birthday. Forward facing, it is even easier to install. We haven't had any problems with the straps and buckling the seat. I just don't see the need for the puzzle buckle - it doesn't keep the child from UNDOING the buckle, just from letting them do it themselves.

Overall, I love this carseat....
by cindy_dt3002 ,Jan 30 '03
Overall, I love this carseat. I wouldn't recommend it for a new infant, I don't think it reclines enough. However, my 18 month old is very comforable in it and I appreciate how it reclines when she's napping. The Latch System strap is too short though, making it hard to install the seat in the rear facing position. It will be better when we can turn the seat around.

This booster seat has good...
by ricky_dt3000 ,Nov 08 '02
This booster seat has good cushsioning, much better than most other brands.
Installation was difficult. After installing it I was and am still not comfortable that it is secured as well as it should be. The straps easily become twisted which is a constant source of aggravation as is difficulty adjusting the tension when the child is wearing a winter coat.
