I bought this seat for my son when he was 1. Now he's approaching his 2nd b-day and I'm shopping for a 2nd one for his little brother. This is a great seat and I highly recommend it.

My son is now 3,...
by marniee_dt3000 ,Dec 10 '02
My son is now 3, and has graduated into the booster seat. No Straps...hooray!!! It is a wonderful care seat with the straps in and out. But I think the best features are 1)Recline 2)5-80lbs 3) cushioning. Price was a bit higher but I felt that it was worth it in the long run, just wish it was around when my son was born.

My 3 year old daughter...
by jennifer_bailey-rose_dt3000 ,Feb 10 '03
My 3 year old daughter has many more years in this seat which was purchased for far too much money for the quality. I no longer feel safe travelling with her in the seat. She is very uncomfortable in it because the restraints are too tight. They have to be this tight to keep her safer. The restraints can not be loosened because they are so twisted. It takes an average of a half and hour to take the twists and kinks out of the straps only for them to be twisted again the next use. The upholstery has also faded and now instead of the seat being black as it was when it was new it is almost a dirty looking shade of brown. I am very disappointed in this product and would not recommend it to anyone who was thinking of purchasing it.

This car seat drives me...
by jackson_dt3000 ,Sep 21 '02
This car seat drives me crazy because the straps are always twisted. We bought a Britax Round-about for the other car and I wish I had bought two. Also, the buckle on the Omega does not function as well as the Britax, and does not secure without sliding. Buy the Britax!

by jennalea_dt3000 ,Apr 10 '02
easy to use and seems very safe, my daughter can see out of the car better and I feel good about this seat. I know many people using these seats now as well. I have yet to hear of someone who is unhappy with it, and it can be used for so long! I only wish I had another one for convenience sake. Then I would not have to remember to remove it if hubbie takes my car. I have recommended this to friends.

After much review of carseats...
by lucille_dt3000 ,Feb 13 '03
After much review of carseats I purchased the Alpha Omega because it recieved a good review for safety. After using the carseat for 7 months now, I am not pleased with it's performance. It is a nice looking seat with lots of cushion and a detatchable pillow. However, a constant source of frustration is that the straps are always very twisted. I may spend 20 minutes straightening them out only to have them in a mess 20 minutes later. I do like that the height is adjustable without taking the straps out of the seat. And it is easy to tighten and loosen the straps (if they aren't too twisted) while my son is still in the seat. Overall I am not very satisfied with the performance. I am looking for another carseat and this will act as my second seat. I also hope it will work better as a booster chair when my son is older.

The straps on this carseat...
by flmom_dt3000 ,Jul 02 '02
The straps on this carseat are constantly getting twisted. My two-year-old has now begun to escape from the arm restraints because the plastic chest piece is very easy for her to unhook (she slides it off of the strap). It is only safe when all five points are restraining!Very pricey for the difficulties I listed above. I have also heard others complain about the straps becoming twisted.

I have really enjoyed this...
by emily's_mom_dt3000 ,Mar 06 '03
I have really enjoyed this seat. I bought it after my infant grew out of the carrier. She is now 21 months old. The problem I face today is that she has vomited and I don't know how to take the cover off to clean it. I love this seat and who cares if the straps get twisted fix it! No big deal. Highly recommended.

I feel that this carseat...
by christine_dt3000 ,Nov 29 '02
I feel that this carseat is very cushioned and comfortable for my 10 month old. Although, it is safe for her now, I forsee in the future that it will be easy for her to undo the buckle that holds the 5 point harness together, posing a threat to her safety in the future. I like the fact that I can get long term use out of one car seat, but I may have to purchase a new one anyway, since I am not confident that the buckle will be secure enough when she is older. I thought her Peg Perego Venezia infant seat had a much more secure harness, and this is what I will probably shop for in the future.

impressive seat
by brandibabes ,Sep 29 '05
Pros: 3in1, fairly easy to install, and remove, sits high so baby can see out windows.
Cons: Twisting straps. Heavy seat. Is quite big.
I did do a lot of research on seats, but a combination of price(purchased for $169 CND)/style/versatility lead me to purchase this seat. In the beginning the straps were fine, and I didn't really understand what everyone was talking about. Now a few months later I am starting to have problems with the belt twisting between the chest clip, and the buckle. I have no idea how this happens! It is like someone sneaks into my car at night and twists them. It an ok seat for rear facing, but the sides sit quite high when it is reclined(which you have to leave it that way when rear facing to meet installation requirements)and makes it a little tricky to get a heavy baby in and out. It has good padding, and I personally don't find the cover to be as much of a pain to remove and replace as others seem to, and I have big hands. The sliding harness adjustment is wonderful.

It is the first and last
by burgandyrose ,Mar 26 '06
Pros: from newborn to preschool, Washable
Cons: The Tape that came with mine is very brief
We use this one in my Mom's van because it is so big. I am one that did not want to buy five car seats. I found this one I was thrilled I have never had a recall on mine mine came with the pillow for the little ones it is detachable the one nice thing is it really easy to clean my son has failure to thrive and had a tendency to not keep food in his early years and it was nice to be able to to remove the seat cover and wash it. I love the five point harness and it can be used on planes with out the base. I love ours it is still going strong.

Very hard to get apart for cleaning
by aderbenwick ,Feb 07 '09
Pros: Easy to use and adjust, good safety ratings.
Cons: IMPOSSIBLE to clean.
We've had this car seat for about 4 months now and have really liked it for the most part.  However, our daughter (16 1/2 months old) threw up in it on the way home tonight and it is next to IMPOSSIBLE to clean.  Taking the cover off basically requires disassembly of the entire seat - it took us over 30 minutes to detach all the straps, pull the back off, etc.  The unfortunate reality is that kids barf.  After tonight, as much as we've liked the seat otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.  It's just not practical to have a car seat that is so difficult to clean.

I'm a first time parent...
by jay's_mom_dt3000 ,Mar 04 '03
I'm a first time parent and when my 6 month old son grew out out of his carrier I found out about the Alpha Omega carseat. I've done a lot of reading about it. The one I ended up purchasing was the one with the overhead shield the only problem I have is when he goes to sleep his head bobs. You all that is saying that the straps get twisted adjust the straps or take the kids out properly. The straps aren't too tight you just need to loosen them a tad. My son loves the carseat and I love it too. It is so comfortable. Hooray for Cosco!!!!!!!!!!

Good bang for your buck deal
by jessnorth ,Jul 28 '07
Pros: Easy to convert, clean, recline, and install.
Cons: Pretty big, but what can you expect for safety!
We have been very satisfied with the Alpha Omega Convertible car seat. So much in fact we bought a second one when our second baby came. We have two good size boys ages 4 and 2 and they have held up fine over the years. we started out with a carrier type car seat for them as infants, and then once they reached 20 lbs we moved them to these seats. We highly recommend them.

Terrible car seat
by aquinnah ,Nov 13 '05
Pros: Since it won't fit securely, who cares?
Cons: Everything
This car seat is terrible. It did not fit securely into either of our cars. One car is a 2004 Volvo with the latch system--it fit, but had in my opinion excessive wiggle and could not be tightened securely. The other car is a Nissan Pathfinder without the latch system (why don't all cars have this?)--and the car seat would not fit securely in any position, including center rear at all. I am very mechanically adept and after over an hour of trying to get the seat secure, I gave up in frustration. We went out instead and returned these and bought the Britax Marathon instead--it took a sum total of 3 minutes to secure both seats into both of our cars securely with virtually no motion. I know it costs more, but how can you place a $$ value on your child--and more importantly, how can they be allowed the market a seat like the Cosco? And if you think the seat fits securely in your car, I would challenge you to test out the Britax and see what secure really is.
