Pros: Electric PTO, Kohler 18 HP, Hydraulic OHV's, Cast iron front end, low vibration. Cons: None.
I'm very pleased with this tractor.
It wasn't listed in any catalog at the Sears stores. The salesman brought it to my attention based on the automatic transmission version #27242 in the catalog. I like the color and it is the only model...
Pros: Smooth, tight turning. Nice transmission. Cons: Horrible motor. Poorly designed deck adjustment pins. Sears refuses to stand behind product. Awful.
I bought the Craftsman LT1000 based on price, deck size, and the use of a Briggs and Stratton engine. I mow about and acre and a half so the 18hp - 42 inch deck was an improvement over the 12hp - 38 inch deck I had been using for more than ten years. ...
Pros: inexpensive, powerful, craftsman parts availibility, and multiple attachments Cons: mahy little problems , see my review
I also have the same lawn tractor as "super reviewer", and like him I own 1 acre...this tractor has many 2nd year little problems . none are to too extreme, but the one problem I did have that someone without a little handyman/woman in them might find ...
Pros: Wow, what a mower. After an exhaustive search, I picked the Craftsman and love it. Cons: 1.25 Gallon Gas Tank
I searched around for about 3 weeks and my search finally ended with a Craftsman mower. I was scared to by a Sears product, but am very pleased with my purchase. I looked at Scott's, Toro, Troy Built, YardMaster, and a few others. After comparing...
Pros: Inexpensive. Engine very reliable. Easy to start. Cons: Breaks easily. Plow attachment useless. Poor resale.
I paid $1000 for it new, plus $200 for the optional snow plow attachment. I have 1.5 acres of land on an uneven mild slope, and a lot of trees to mow around. I also have a septic mound in the back to mow over. I had assumed that the cheapest lawn ...
Spend the money for something better by tberan ,Aug 27 '04
Pros: Sears 2 year warranty Cons: Small engine, no hour meter, small gas tank, small rear tires, bad oil filter placement..
14 months since inception and the front wheel fell off, the starter went bad, three batteries replacements, and the engine blew a rod. I mow 1 acre of land and this wasn't big enough to handle the work load. Do NOT buy any tractor with the 1 cylinder small Briggs & Stratton motor. A new engine costs over $1500, however Sears was good about honoring the warranty and replacing the tractor...so I upgraded to something with a Kohler engine. Spend the extra money, or you'll regret it!
Craftsman 18 hp, 42 in. Deck Lawn Tractor Kohler by d8990 ,Apr 28 '05
Pros: Can depend on it. Cons: QA department could use some new personnel.
Bought due to Kohler reputation. Engine failed to operate twice at Sears and was fixed twice (simple electrical). Failed on me the first few weeks, same problem. Tech came to the house and fixed it. Informed him of another problem. I had to add oil every gas fillup. He checked the compression and advised a new engine. Apparently a lot of Kohlers were not up to snuff. Second tech was sent out and replaced it free of charge. First Kohler was defective with 10 or so hours of usage. Replacement Kohler has been excellent with several hundred hours of use. Tower was replaced with idler bearings. Battery was typical factory cheapo. Automatic transmission is flawless. Excellent and trouble free since. Would I buy another? Yep, if it ever wears out.
CRAFTSMAN 18 HP 42 IN DECK LAWN TRACTOR 27176 LT1000 by w8152 ,May 24 '04
Pros: THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS GREAT Cons: THE ENGINE BLEW AT THE BEGINNING OF THE THIRD SEASON.
I HAVE USED MY TRACTOR FOR TWO SEASONS AND JUST STARTING NUMBER THREE. WE HAD MOVED TO A LARGER HOME ON 1 ACRE AND I THOUGHT I WOULD JUST USE OUR PUSH MOWER TO GET THE JOB DONE. I WAS GLAD MY WIFE TALKED ME INTO BUYING THE TRACTOR.
IT GOT THE JOB DONE A LOT QUICKER AND WITH A LOT LESS SWEAT. NOW I HAVE TIME TO CLEAN THE POOL, I WONDER IF THE WIFE HAD THAT IN MIND WHEN SHE OK'D THIS PURCHASE?
