Pros: easy to maneuver, larger rear wheels Cons: bagger falls off, front wheel drive makes wheels cut into lawn
When I bought my new house two years ago, I went from a non-wooded 1/3 acre lot to a 1 acre fully wooded lot. I sold my 10 year old power rear wheel drive MTD mower at a tag sale. The decision was do I get a tractor mower or a push mower. I wanted the...
Pros: Self-propelled, front wheel drive, rear bagger, 6.75 HP engine. Cons: May be tough to start.
I have always been partial to Craftsman products: tools, cutters, you name it, and I probably have a few of them in my garage. To me, the Craftsman (Sears) line is one of quality made tools and machines. So, when I was in the market for a mower, I made...
Pros: Strong motor that will cut through the thickest of grass. Cons: Cold blooded. No speed control.
I have one of those lawns that are a nightmare to cut. It is full of little hills, bumps, and the occasional hole. When I would finish cutting the lawn, no matter how hard I worked at it, came out looking un-even. That I had done a total chop job with...
Pros: Simple to maneuver, powerful, self-propelled, mulching kit, front wheel drive, rear bagger, large rear wheels Cons: Loud, Need to prime engine before cold starting, no throttle or speed control
Although this mower has not been in retail for a couple years, it remains available as a sale item at many stores. The particular model referred to in this article is the Craftsman 22-inch deck, model 917.377190, commonly referred as the 37719 model. ...
Craftsman! The name doesn’t really conjure up images of lawn mowers but that didn’t stop me from buying what I consider the best lawn mower I have ever owned. The Craftsman 22-inch mower is, excuse the pun, on the cutting edge of mower technology...
Pros: Very powerful, great mulching job, clean lawn cut Cons: no throttle or self propelled wheel speed control
My grandmother needed a new mower so I brought mine to her house and bought myself a new Craftsman model 917.337190 (believe more commonly known as the 37719 model).
BASIC SPECS
This lawnmower has a 6.75 HP engine, 22" cut...
Pros: No effort to mow the lawn, it's very easy to maneuver Cons: Cold start; remember to prime the motor by pushing the primer.
After returning from wintering in Florida this spring, the lawn needed to be mowed desperately.
The cord of the mower we have had for about ten to twelve years came off in my hand and there was no way for me to repair it by myself. I decided that...
Pros: Fairly Quiet, easy to start, big gas tank, great power Cons: No major ones!
This is the best mower I have ever owned. It has a good, strong, powerful engine and does a great job of mulching. Although the propultion is a little slow, it is much faster than the previous mower I owned. The wheels are easily adjustable and the...
Pros: Self propelled and easy to start Cons: Bulky and hard for some to handle
It is a craftsman and that name just about says it all.It comes from sears where your satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back. This is a good mower with large rear wheels, self propelled and it has a powerful 6.75 engine.I have had mine for a season...
Pros: POWER and ease of starting Cons: tough to move it around the tight spots
Bought this last spring because my previous Craftsmen mower was, well, a piece of junk but I figured, for the price it was had to beat this one so I bought it. I LOVE IT. Briggs and Straton engine is impossible to kill, starts right away, runs well and...
Pros: Large rear wheels, plenty of power, easy to start Cons: front drive broke in six months (warranty). front wheels cut into lawn sometimes leaving marks.
I've had my mower for over a year now. I like the power it has for cutting through the thick and sometimes wet grass here in Washington.
Pros: Bag fills fuller than any mower I've used before Cons: Problems with engine working properly, even after service
I've had this mower for almost 2 years now and was initially happy but have since changed my opinion. My problems with it are with the idle/throttle/choke system. Only after having the unit serviced will it start with lest than three pulls. That only lasts about 10 uses or so then it needs servicing again. The mower will throttle back and forth and not run for more than 10-30 second at a time. My yard is fairly small and it takes at least an hour to mow with this problem. I've used twist ties to force the unit to stay at one speed, unfortunately that is much higher than it needs to be to operate so grass actually overshoots the bag. Next time I'll buy a Toro or a Honda. I'll never own a Craftsman mower again.
