Creepers explore a scary old hotel

by phungus phungus is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Books, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Oct 09 '08
Pros: Good settings, very fast paced
Cons: Comic book villains, unbelievable
I've had my eye on the audiobook of Creepers< b> ever since I saw it in the bargain section of my local Books-a-Million store. Deep down, I knew it was in the bargain bin probably not for great reasons, but I couldn't resist the premise or the fact ...

Jeepers Creepers

by Rocketgirl Rocketgirl is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Books, , Dec 22 '08
Pros: Unique plot and interesting main character
Cons: No motivation for bad guys
I have read other novels by David Morrell in the past and enjoy their fast pace and their suspense. They don't fit neatly into a genre, such as crime or suspense novel though. They are hard to define because they usually have lots of twists and turns and ...

The darkest secrets live in places you're not supposed to be

by jbrd Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Oct 31 '05
Pros: Creepers is a disturbing read into what MIGHT lurk in the walls...that IS scary!
Cons: The ending is too complex, you'll forget who's who by the middle, book is deceiving.
On a cold October night, five people gather in a run-down motel on the Jersey short and begin preparations to break in to the Paragon Hotel--boarded up and marked for demolition. And after the group enters the rat-infested tunnel leading to the hotel, ...

Creepers left me unsatisfied

by texasoma , Jan 30 '09
Pros: Using a novel plot element with regard to creepers, or urban explorers.
Cons: No suspense, just nonsense.
From the reviews I've read of other of Morrell's works, I expected a fast-paced, exciting story. Although the initial premise was intriguing - centering on a group of urban "creepers" who explore abandoned buildings - the story line was fractured and ...

Decent read, but a bit gory for my taste
by llfmpt ,Jan 26 '07
Pros: Unexpected twists and turns keep you reading
Cons: Gore
I did enjoy the book and was intrigued by the subject matter of infiltration. However, I felt the story line twisted into some unbelievable realms on several issues that seemed underdeveloped (mutated animals--were they just there as a sideshow or was there a point to their presence?). There was also more gore than I normally like to read in a suspense/thriller. I don't think the ending was too hard to follow, however, as a previous reviewer thought and although I did read it rather quickly (a day or two), that usually indicates the book did a great job at keeping me enthralled with the story and not indicative of the length of the book at all! Overall, I would recommend it as a suspense book if you are interested at all in "creeping" and don't mind some gore.

Not bad
by lust_for_life ,Aug 25 '06
Pros: Urban Explorers will love it
Cons: Too short, too flimsy
I expected alot more from this book, as it is about a subject that I'm into myself--infiltration. A group of people infiltrate an abandoned hotel in Asbury Park, NJ, and the problems begin almost immediately. Without giving anything away, if you're into exploring abandoned places and have some knowledge of the subject, then you'll appreciate this book for the subject matter, as the author clearly did his research into infiltrating. However, for the uninformed, this book is a second-rate thriller, at best. The characters are under-developed, the plot is sorta flimsy, and the book is entirely too short...I read it in one day. If you're into urban exploration and thrillers, then this is a good book for you. If you're looking for horror or suspense, look elsewhere.
