Pros: Built in grinder and carbon water filter
Thermal carafe
Programmable
Sleek styling and cord storage Cons: Inadequate brew temperature
Only brews 10 cups
The Cuisinart DGB-600BC is a sleek-looking, fully-programmable, revolutionary coffee maker that takes 99% of the guesswork out of brewing a good cup of coffee. It perfectly grinds the beans and even carbon filters the water right before brewing. The ...
Pros: lots of seemingly nice features: timer, filter, steal-a-cup, etc. Cons: inconvenient to clean
When you first think about it, a coffeemaker that grinds your beans for you seems like a great idea – it saves space, you’re using the coffee immediately after grinding for the freshest flavor possible – what could be wrong with that? It’s a real pain to ...
Pros: Great coffee, Stylish Cons: Extra parts to clean, Can not see how much coffee is in pot
I owned a prior Cuisinart 10-cup Grind and Brew that was white. After 3-4 years, the grinder burned out. I was used to the freshly ground coffee every morning and my kitchen has changed to stainless steel appliances so I went with the DGB-600BC ...
Pros: Ultimate fresh coffee
Nice overall design
Decent size Cons: Uses extra beans
extra cleaning pieces
loud grinder if that matters
I did quite a bit of Web research to see what was out there and see if its worth the price. After a month of daily use, I've decided to keep it and write pro's and cons. Issues/resolutions: *I read the thermal pot drips while pouring coffee. My ...
Pros: I like the grind and brew concept and the coffee tastes good. Cons: Spews grounds and coffee all over the place if you make more than 7 cups.
This is my third grind-and brew. The others died after a couple of years and I did not call about the warranty. I liked them well enough to just go out and buy a new one, despite the hefty price tag. The others worked very well and brewed excellent ...
Much better than the old one!!! by maxjjcc ,Oct 15 '06
Pros: Great fresh ground coffee, easy clean up, great 3 year warranty. Cons: I don't see any thus far!
If you like fresh ground coffee, this is the one for you! I love this new grind and brew. I bought it in black, not white. The pop out front basket makes it easier to remove the coffee grounds. It is much easier to clean and use than the older model. It is also much quieter than the older model during the grinding. Although it is a little pricey, it is worth it. Cuisinart has a great 3 year warranty! My older model kicked the bucket after 3 years and 5 months. Even though it was after the three year warranty period, I called Cuisinart. They told me that they give a 6 month grace period after the 3 years and shipped me out another one free of cost! All I had to do was ship the old one back!
Pros: Freshly ground coffee Cons: A hassle to clean.
Well, it does make freshly ground coffee. The carafe doesn't spill when you pour. It has plenty of great features. But none of that is worth the hassle of cleaning all the parts and pieces. As other reviewers have noted, the steam rises up into the grinding chambers creating brown mud that tends to run down behind the carafe and onto the tray that holds the filter. Once that is all gummed up it is very difficult to slide the filter holder in and out. A great idea in theory, but it is not worth the trouble.
Pros: I wish the product worked. Cons: The grinder get clogged easily and can create a huge mess.
This product is good in theory but poor in performance. The grinder/basket gets clogged with coffee dust and is very messy to clean up. The steam creates ground coffee mud the gets trapped between the grinder and basket so that about every 4-5 pots you have to take the whole thing apart and clean or it will overflow all over the counter.
BIG PAIN to clean and very NOISEY by crissyboy ,Jun 16 '04
Pros: makes a decent cup of Joe Cons: LOUD, ten minutes to clean after every pot, very bulky.
I saw it first in Dwell magazine; boy did it look cool. It looked even better on the shelf at the store. However, after waking up at 6am to the sound of a 747 jet taking off in your kitchen, it gets tiring. This baby is LOUD when it grinds and it grinds into a high pitch (around 20 seconds or more). If you have a new born, good luck! Also, it takes forever to clean all of the parts. Sure some of the parts are dishwasher safe but who runs their dishwasher everyday? I took this baby back to Bed Bath & Beyond pronto. Sticking with my Krups Therm Time Stainless Coffeemaker. It's simple to clean and quiet! Cheers
Good idea, poor execution.. by mem59ber ,Feb 17 '08
Pros: Stylish, makes good coffee. Cons: Hard to clean. Human and mechanical failure prone.
Sounds like a good idea, right? There's nothing like fresh ground, fresh brewed coffee. This coffee maker makes good coffee. So, what's not to like?
Let me count the ways.. :)
(1) There's no way to adjust the grind. The (really noisy, we use it for an alarm clock)grinder just grinds the coffee very fine.
(2) It's very prone to human error. It has interlocks so it won't run if the grinder isn't assembled correctly, but..
If you forget to put in a filter, it clogs up the basket, and you get 12 cups of coffee on the floor. :)
If you forget to put the lid on the basket.. see above.
(3) Because of the design, and very fine grind, it's a PITA to clean. There's really no reason to grind the coffee in one container, sling it through a tunnel, and run water through the whole works.
(4) And the last straw.. this morning, the latch failed on the basket, and when the grinder cycled the basket partially opened, ahh, 12 cups and grounds on the floor.
I just took the second one of these back to the store again after AGAIN the grinder breaks. I don't get it...each one lasted about three months. This time I am getting a refund or a store credit instead of a replacement
Astonishing Piece of Junk! by petreforde ,Jan 10 '05
Pros: Absolutely none! Cons: Run as fast as you can from this machine!
I can't believe the design flaws in this machine. The steam from the water goes back up into the grind mechanism and turns the remaining coffee dust into coffee mud. You are forced to remove all the plastic components and wash each one by hand after every pot. Once wet, you are not able to make a 2nd pot of coffee as again, the ground coffee will stick to all the wet parts and the pot of coffee will end up all over your counter. If you decide to forgo the grind process and grind the beans outside of the machine, you'd better not think of filling the filter more than half-full. The machine will clog up during the drip process and overflow all over your counters!!
I have never hated an appliance more than I hate this one. I want to throw it against the wall! The worst part is that I researched this machine online. I read nothing but positive reviews so I bought one .....
