Keep your money
by jgreenwood1 ,Jun 01 '05
Pros: Style, can grind and brew or just brew.
Cons: Not hot enough, spills when pouring
I have read some reviews stating that the Coffee is hot. That is my number one complaint. It is not hot enough unless you run hot water in the carafe first and heat up your mug. I do like 1/2 &1/2 in my coffee so maybe the reviewers that thought it was hot enough are black coffee drinkers. My second complaint is that the carafe leaks all over the counter as you pour. I bought mine 1 year ago and am waiting for an opportunity to buy a new maker.

Stick with separate grinder
by probe22 ,Dec 22 '04
Pros: concept
Cons: poor design
Thought this was a good concept but it's not worth the effort. Requires cleaning out the grinding area after each pot is made. Worse, the locking mechanism which holds the basket in occasionally pops out when the grinder comes on. This makes for a big mess. I called cuisinart about this and got the impression that they must hear this complaint frequently. It's much easier to just grind the beans on your own.

Taking it back today
by mikaln ,Jan 17 '05
Pros: good looks
Cons: poor lukewarm coffee, dribbling lid, noisy, expensive, needs "proprietary" filters
This product is the kind of feature-laden crap being foisted on the public that has been clearly rushed to market without ever being user tested.

We've had ours for a week and I am so dissatisfied with every aspect of the thing, I'm taking it back to Williams Sonoma for a full refund.

It's hopelessly complicated to assemble and disassemble just to clean, it makes lukewarm coffee (that stays lukewarm all day) uses too many beans, is noisy as hell. You have to use a flashlight to read the gauge that tells you how many cups of water you've poured in.

It looks good in an upscale kitchen sort of way and that's the main reason I bought it.

$150 mess on my countertop.
by penny565 ,Jan 05 '07
Pros: The timer was easy to use.
Cons: Leaks water, coffee grinder extremely hard to clean.
I recently purchased a Cuisinart DGB-600 10-Cup Coffee Maker. I paid $150 for what I thought was a high end product. What I got was the worst engineered appliance I have ever purchased. With each brew about 1/2" cup of water leaks out of the top, bottom and all 4 sides. I can't use the grind feature because steam from the brewing process causes the grinder mechanism to become completely clogged. The filter basket has numerous mechanical parts that can't be removed for cleaning. I don't understand how a product with so many flaws could make it to the market. I'm also puzzled how they still continue to sell a product that they know is defective. I would have returned this product to the store but I can't find the receipt.

Leaky but got replaced carafe
by scum1 ,Nov 25 '03
Pros: keeps coffee hot and tasty for a long time. Top notch customer service
Cons: Great warranty
Got my replacement Carafe today ( free ). Spout has different design so I hope it won't leak.
Since I wrote my review I heard back from Cuisinart. They are sending me a replacement carafe. The warranty is top notch I guess. My maker was a year old and the were very prompt when i complained about the leaky carafe! I am happy now(I will write more after i receive my new carafe)
I've had mine since last Christmas and it was fine for about the first 6 months. Coffee taste great and is hot enough for me. I often make a pot for my wife in the AM when I get off of the night shift. I make enough so when I wake up at 3pm to get ready for work I can have a cup as well. It's still good then! Now the big problem is like the other bad reviews. My pot leaks no matter how you try to pour coffee out of it! Of course we are used to it and pour our cups full over the sink but at the price I paid I should not have to do this.

Excellent Coffee Maker
by wartoni ,Jan 15 '06
Pros: Looks, Quality, Perfect for 6-8 cups
Cons: Price, weak coffee if you make all 10 cups
My wife and I use this every day to make the morning coffee and love it. We are coffee snobs and need fresh ground coffee and this works well. There are 5 parts to wash with every new pot but it's not hard to do. The thermal carafe is great.

Expensive does not mean the best
by captainzem ,Jun 12 '07
Pros: Looks Impressive
Cons: Luke-warm coffee Coffee Grinder Product Support

I received the Coffee Maker as a Wedding present. It turned out to be worst wedding present received.

The temperature of the coffee maker was at 185. Optimal temp for getting the best taste from a coffee bean is around 200-205. Cuisinart suggests you use hot water.

The coffee ended up on the floor more times than in the coffee pot. I had to remove the safety feature to allow the coffee to easily pour into the coffee pot. If you don’t, get your sponge ready.

The coffee grinder works well for the first 2 months. After that, good luck. This machine had problems of putting all the grinds into the filter.(Water-downed coffee)

Do Not Waste Your Money
by massenricht ,Apr 14 '07
Pros: Looks nice on the counter
Cons: The person who designed it was on drugs
To begin with, the grinder sounds like a small aircraft during take-off. It is so loud at 5am in my condominium that I give it a full body wrap to muffle the noise.

The filter basket door will occasionally pop open during brewing or any other time that it wants to. Then when you clean up the mess this creates you have seven separate pieces to wash and that's not counting your floor and counter top.

It looks good, I bought it because of the brand name and can't even say it makes a good cup of coffee. And one more thing, the carafe always leaks when you pour a cup and it pours v-e-r-y slowly.

Dont waste your money on this one
by vpallari ,Nov 08 '06
Pros: It DOES brew coffee when its working
Cons: everything else
Im on my 3rd machine and it just took a dump. I think the heating element went out on this one. The 2 before was the grinder...just stopped working. This thing is kind of a joke. I mean, if you dont clean out the grinder everytime, it starts really caking up which causes you to get less and less gounds into the filter. Doesnt really save you much time. This thing is also a pain in the butt to clean...i have a white one, so when you open the lid to coffee and water in, its just plain disgusting. I dont know what else to say about this, i mean, it is just a coffee pot, but as far as pots go, this one stinks. I might just go back to 20 dollar pots and a good hand grinder.

not for my money
by dkort ,Oct 10 '04
Pros: stylish and pretty design
Cons: bad water reservoir. difficult lid. flavor wasn't good. no water filter
I bought the same machine without the stainless steel carafe at costco for under a hundred dollars. it got returned. first of all, i cannot figure out the water reservoir. it is black inside and very hard to determine exactly how much water you put in there. second is the lid. very hard to take off and then put back on. third the grinder is really noisy, but most grinders are anyway. the worst part is the coffee. i thought it was pretty bad. weak, funny tasting. i brewed a few cups with water only as per the instructions and then tried one for myself. finally, there's no way to filter the water. i like machines that have a charcoal filter built in. i also like using ice cold water. so i usually put in ice cubes into the tap water and then pour the water into the reservoir without the ice cubes. we also wondered what happens when the grinder breaks? then we'd be left with just a regular machine anyway with a difficult water reservoir. forget it.

Stay away from this machine!
by gnataly ,May 09 '05
Pros: -good looking -fresh ground coffee -thermal carafe -timer
Cons: -annoying to clean -design inside is extremely poor -riddled with bugs -buyer beware!
I have never had this much trouble with an appliance in my entire life! I had it about 3 months and cleaned it well after each use when the grinds got into the track where the basket glides into the machine. This made it impossible to open the door without prying. I called Cuisinart to get suggestions and they recommended that I clean the track with a pipe cleaner! Ok, this worked fairly well but is this necessary? Poor design if you ask me. Now I am having worse problems than ever. The grinding cup is completely stuck on the machine unless I pry it off with a church key! I noticed pieces of a small black plastic washer under the grind cup which may be the source of the problem. My father hates this machine when he comes to visit and I have to say I am having the same feelings.

Cuisinart Grind and Brew Thermal Coffee Maker
by spangle1 ,Nov 23 '04
Pros: Attractive appliance. Grinds Beans for really Fresh Coffee.
Cons: Expensive, Jug Lid Awkward to Unscrew. Unable to Reheat.
Nice looking appliance, looks good in our kitchen, reasonably easy to use. Grinds beans easily then goes straight on to brew the coffee. Can use ready ground coffee also, with or without filter papers as permanent filter basket provided.

Attractive thermal jug keeps coffee warm but no facility to reheat. Lid of jug awkward to unscrew.

Don't waste your money!
by hypermom ,Mar 12 '07
Pros: None
Cons: Loud grinder, makes coffee on the counter, broke with in 4 months of having it
This is the worst coffee pot I have ever used. I received it as a gift for Christmas and 4 months later it is broken. The coffee maker is poorly designed and is a pain to deal with. You have to take out the filter basket, filter tray, grinding parts and rinse them out everyday otherwise your beans will stick to the ginder. Even when you dont use the grinder it builds up with condensation, so you have to dry it daily. The coffee pours out very slowly and when there is 3 cups left in the pot, you have to take the lid off to finish getting the coffee out of the pot. The filter basket pops out for no reason when brewing, which causes coffee to make all over the counter, an awful mess!!
Now after having the pot for four months it is no longer working, it won't turn on. And the last time it made a pot, it started grinding when I had the grind off button pushed on, then it popped out the filter basket.
The grinder is also extremely loud.
I do not recommend anyone wasting their money on this coffee pot.

Cuisinart DGB-600 10 Cup Coffee Maker
by claimit ,Nov 10 '05
Pros: Grinds & Brews great flavored coffees - you will not be disappointed!
Cons: Don't turn on the program before it is fully assembled to avoid hear the beeps.
My wife and I have had another brand of coffee maker for over 10 years. It started leaking and finally shorted out. It served us well, but we wanted more...
We have always enjoyed the flavored coffees, especially those from the Boyer Brothers from Colorado. We have had the Cuisinart for a couple of months now. Look no further if you are looking for a grind and brew type of maker. It performs flawlessly. We find that if you clean it right after brewing that it is quick and painless. We enjoy everything about this coffee maker. As long as you don't set the program button on before it is fully assembled you will not hear the annoying but thoughtful beeps. It is somewhat loud when griding, but the flavor and temperature of the coffee will have you wishing you purchased this unit many years ago.
