Treat Your Water and Feel the Difference!

by stacyintx , Apr 12 '01
Pros: Professional Service and the Appliance Works! Very Affordable to Rent.
Cons: Nothing Really Comes to Mind
Living in south Texas, we have some of the hardest water in the country. Our city water comes from an aquifer that is located underground and rests upon limestone. As you can imagine, limestone is filtered throughout the water distribution for everyone...

Clarification of Culligan whole house water filters

by cikaris , Sep 20 '02
Pros: Reduces sediment, dirt, rust, sand, and silt. Inexpensive filters.
Cons: Filters have to be replaced regularly.
Having read the other reviews appearing for these products, I realized that other reviewers are responding to the entire line of Culligan's water treatment products and are not writing about the products in question. The other reviews bear no relation to...

by Anne_Johnston , Apr 18 '00
Pros: Gets rid of the black look and rotten water smell
Cons: pricey, have to remember the bleach!
Hey Culligan Man! My water smells like rotten eggs and is coming out of the faucet black looking - do you have a water conditioner to take care of this?

Sounds like the Fountain of Youth water in St. Augustine? Absolutely! Hydrogen...

I honestly don't know why this was installed.

by BadgerGirl , Jun 21 '01
Pros: Can't think of any
Cons: Low water volume, pushy sales, cost, dirty water
We moved into our current house in August of 2000. We live in a rural neighborhood with both a septic system and a semi-private well. Neither my husband nor I had ever had a well before, so we assumed that the Culligan faucet on the sink was there...

HF-150 Whole House Filter Housing; Point of Entry

by otisodie , Mar 19 '07
Pros: Economical Way To Filter Household Water. Best Priced Point of Entry 10 inch Filter Housing.
Cons: Installation. Requires tools and knowledge to plumb. Not beyond a D-I-Y project though.
This is a whole house filter housing intended to filter out particulates/sediment in the water supply. A filter cartridge must be inserted into the housing and the actual filters must be purchased separately. There are a large variety of filters ...

Why I didn't buy it

by ms_block , May 09 '00
Pros: The demonstrations were impressive
Cons: The sell was much harder than my water

It's a filter ... NOT a water softener!

by iowajazzlover , Jan 24 '03
Pros: Great Price Easy to Install
Cons: Would like to see a heavier bracket
If you need softened water, this is NOT what you need.

Almost all the reviews I've seen on this page are talking about "hard sells" and "expensive systems." If you read them carefully, you find out that almost all (if not all) of the reviews...

Culligan Water Filtration System Doesn't Work
by cookey914 ,Sep 11 '07
Pros: Can't think of any pros
Cons: Not working for me. Expensive.
I live in East Tennessee. Our water has a lot of calcium. Something white and powdery comes through my water pipes and clogs up my washing machine and dish washer forcing me to get them repaired a couple of times a year. I had Culligan install a water softener which uses salt. The problem got worse. I've had the Culligan Man out here three times and each time he tells me it is coming from the water filtration plant in my town. I have public water. The Water company tells me it is the Culligan equipment. This puts me in the middle. I have bad water I can't drink, appliances that are in constant need of repair, white powdery stuff all over my wall behind the washer that falls out when I disconnect the hoses. Meanwhile, I am paying for a Culligan system, plus the salt, plus a water bill every month from the town and I am having to buy drinking water. Culligan has not solved my problem. It has only added to my monthly expense. I am having the unit taken out.

Filters don't fit snuggly
by steve1123 ,Aug 09 '07
Pros: Clear housing, easy filter change, can use a variety of 10" filters obtainable anywhere
Cons: The filters don't fit snuggly. Water circulates around filter. No way to tighten it.
I bought the Culligan HF-360. I liked the clear housing and easy change system. But the filters do nor fit snugly into the plastic housing. So water circulates past the top and bottom bypassing the filter. There is no way to tighten the filter since whatever tension comes from screwing in the plastic housing. When the housing is screwed in all the way, there is insufficient tension making a bad seal.

When my plumber installed he cautioned that I would be needing to change it practically every week, but in fact after many months the filter is still white (indicative that the water is bypassing it).

I tried several kinds of 10" filter none worked with this unit.

Culligan is horrible, full stop
by hhart ,Jun 09 '09
Pros: the water tastes good.
Cons: the customer service leaves a totally foul taste in my mouth.
I have tried and tried and tried to get a customer service rep on the phone who cared, but to no avail. Thanks to their completely abhorrent customer service and billing departments, as well as their total ineptitude as a business, I made an appointment to have my unit taken out and my account closed. Surprise, no one showed up after four hours of waiting. Because of billing errors on their end, and my refusal to pay, my account is now with a collections company. they are now billing me for the whole system which they never showed up to take out. Have told my story to possibly every representative they have, and actually today spoke with a manager and related my whole story again, only to be told i need to contact my local agent, and that i was mistakenly transferred to her.

Good Filter BUT the worst customer service
by ivybluez ,Mar 31 '08
Pros: none
Cons: filter occasionally gets stuck filtering water Bad Horrible customer service
I've used culligan's under the sink drinking water filter for years but decided to recently cancel my account with them because of their horrible customer service. The water filter would occasionally slow down, as if something was clogging the filtered water from coming out. This has happened quite a few times over the years. In the old days I would call and they would send a mechanic out to my house within the week, but now their making me live without water for 3 weeks!!! And you know what else is funny? I called to tell them that I've cancelled my account, and guess who they're going to send next week? A mechanic to take OUT my filter. They have the nerve to send someone over sooner than the date they told me they can send someone over to FIX the darn thing. Maybe this is a good thing though because aquasana has better ratings and a better deal than culligan!!!
