Pros: Tailored workouts, no weights to worry about, friendly atmosphere
    Cons: None so far

Summary: Over the past few years, I have done a lot of exercising with Leslie Sansone walk aerobics, and sometimes I use barbell weights as I exercise.  When my doctor told me I needed to do more weight bearing exercises to help increase my bone ... read more

    Oct 24, 2009 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Brainless, high motivation, easy, good atmosphere, solid workout, FAST
Cons: Not an intensive workout for the fit–especially weights–and could get boring. No childcare, short hours.

Summary: My mom has joined her local Curves, and I got to visit once during the winter. Even in my fat and out of shape condition (virtually no exercise for 6 months), it was obvious from the owner's reaction that I was one of the fittest of the people who come. ... read more

Cons: If the room is full........you will need to wait your turn......if you have time.

Summary: They tell me is is a fittness and health club but they do not discourage customers from refraining wearing perfume for those who have allergies.  The room is small and they have fans on the floor which only blows around the offending ... read more

    May 15, 2009 by

Pros: Great for people that are self-motivated to work their hardest at every machine.
Cons: I can see how it would be easy to slack off and see no results.

Summary: I worked out at Curves for a year.  Yes, I was out of shape and overweight (5'0, 145 lb) when I started.  I had worked out at gyms in the past with great results, but always ended up being there for a couple hours to get in everything I ... read more

Pros: * No guess work in what exercises to do and how long to do them
Cons: * If you are an intense athlete then you're better off at Gold's.

Summary:  Before Curves I had no energy at all, I didn't work out, my metabolism was horrible, and I just kept eating. Curves is making a huge difference in my life. The workouts are so quick that before you know it, you are done! I love how the equipment ... read more

  • Great when you use it right!

    Jul 30, 2008 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: All women, no men, no weights, good instruction and great friends!
Cons: Music-not enough variety especially after 2 years!

Summary: In order for this routine to work for you, you have to push yourself to do the work. If you're going to go in just so you can say "Well, I did my 30 minute work out" without really putting effort into your workout, it's not going to work. You have to ... read more

  • Curves is a rip off!!!!!

    Jul 11, 2008 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: If you like to socialize, this is the place for you.
Cons: Thirty minutes is not enough time to workout, workers talk to you while you exercise.

Summary: I joined curves for about three to four months back in 2006 at $39 dollars a month. You get to pay $29 if you sign a contract for a whole year. Wow, not much of an incentive, ten dollars. At first I liked it because I hadn't excercised for so long that ... read more

    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: All women, 30 minute workout
Cons: Hours, repetitive, lack of challenge

Summary: I had heard some success stories from Curves, so I decided to try it out. Thirty minutes a day, three times a week would definitely fit into my unpredictable work schedule. Plus, I thought the motivational aspect would really keep me on top of it. I ... read more

  • It's ok, but.....

    Jun 17, 2008 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: fast social for those that want it.
Cons: boring, bad music workout too easy after awhile

Summary: Some of the pros for Curves for some people are that it's women only. Men aren't staring, you don't have to worry about what you look like, etc. I suppose that's ok, but the gym where I work out is men/women. There is no staring or ogling any women ... read more

    May 14, 2008 by

Pros: Makes you move to the beat. Staff is friendly too.
Cons: I have to move to the next machine when I don't want to.

Summary: Although the staff are friendly and always there to help out, demonstrate a routine, answer a question, the workouts consist of too much rotation (everyone has to to leave their exercise machine on a specific signal, and move to the next one, whether ... read more

    Apr 5, 2008 by

Cons: None that I can think of! (I know, I'm biased!)

Summary: I've read all 148 reviews, and I just wanted to address some of the "cons." Training of staff - Just like at any other business, I suppose the training of the staff relies on the qualifications set up by the owner and the owner's follow thru. Curves ... read more

  • Curves in Richmond VA Location is worthless

    Feb 20, 2008 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: I can not offer any pros.
Cons: The workouts do not work. This has to be the reason records are not kept.

Summary: I joined Curves because of promises that I would see results and that I would be weighted and measured monthly to record my progress. I was promised a trainer to ensure proper use of the machines. After the first work out, I never received help with ... read more
