Pros: Inexpensive. Seems to be better for heat management and reportedly faster than the competition. Cons: Boxy construction, not as functional configuration and reporting options.
Well, this is the second NAS (Network Atached Storage) box I've deployed in the past 3 days. The other was the Linksys/Cisco NAS-200. I got the NAS-200 first and then decided to 'upgrade' to take advantage of a reportedly faster ...

Pros: Always available, backup solution with mirroring, gigabit Ethernet, iTunes server, FTP server, printer-support. Cons: Support not the best, EXT3 support removed by latest BIOS.

Great NAS with current firmware...fast, easy, and solid
by epinionstalker ,May 27 '07
Pros: Fast, quiet, compact, easy, dependable, active user community. Cons: USB port only supports printer sharing (but support for USB drives can be added).
This is a great NAS (Network Attached Storage) device...current firmware (1.03) resolves problems and results in a great, solid, dependable device that allows sharing files over the network with all your computers. Very speedy, very reliable, and very easy to use.
Provides very fast file transfer speeds...toms hardware rated it one of the fastest units.
Also has an active user community/forum and folks creating tools to add additional functionality (e.g., http web server) in addition to the built-in FTP server, iTunes server, upnp media server, etc. See http://forum.dsmg600.info/f3-DNS323-General-Discussion.html.
Can't go wrong with this unit - great buy.
