I bought this at Crate and Barrel in early 2009. The first one was so loud, I took it back and exchanged it. It worked great for a while, now it leaks a major puddle every time we brew a pot. The lever/paddle thing in the back leaks/drips a lot of coffee-about a 1/2 cup gets on the hot plate and the counter. This coffee maker is really annoying.

I thought I was doing a good thing buy spending alot on a coffee pot,until I brought it home set it up with 12 cups of water set the timer for 6 in the morning.I was so excited to wanna wake up and smell that folgers but little to my wifes suprise in the morning to find 12 cups of pipeing hot coffee all over the counter and floor.oh I smelled the folgers alright all over my paper work.The design for this coffee maker releases coffee at an incredible pressure so it goes everywhere except in the pot.It just overflows everywhere.don't buy, unless that story sounds fun to you.

Pros: Simple to use.  Fits well under cabinet.  Lowest price machine around.
Cons: Doesn't last. Ours broke within 3 months.

The machine worked great for first month, though it was definitely slower to brew than my previous machine.  Out of the box it took more than 10 minutes for an 8-cup batch.  Still, I liked the front access.  At some point, less than 3 months out of the box, it started taking much longer, 40 minutes to brew an 8-cup batch.  And no, it's not blocked by hard water deposits. The brew-line tubing is clear.  It's just a cheap piece of technology.

When I bought this machine I was not that confident about the quality of the coffee due to its unique low price... it was a surprise!! Easy to use, cheap, great coffee... I'm getting addicted to my coffee every day more and more! 
the timer is easy to set and punctual as a swiss clock to get my hot coffee ready when I wake up!

Pros: No pros; other than the fact you can fill under the counter
Cons: Customer service=no people skills, break the carafe and your stock with an overpriced coffee maker

If by chance, you break the glass carafe....forget it; the company will sell you a new one at almost the same price as the whole machine...and the people in their customer service could care less about it....terrible customer service.  By a cheaper model cffee maker that will work just as fine...with out the excessive cost and rude customer service
