The FUTURE of GPS - But not Yet

by djsepinions , Jan 23 '09
Pros: Great concept - definitely the future of GPS.
Cons: It does not perform well enough if you're moving faster than a hike.
Bottom Line For MeIf I only ever used this device for walking speeds - it blows way the competition for functionality and value.  However, I want to use it for on-bicycle and in-vehicle navigation as well.Vendor and Product ...

Nice packaging, poor performance

by travelgardner , Jan 07 '09
Pros: Topo7, 1GB SD Disk, maps and cable included
Cons: Extremely slow to acquire signal, big accuracy problems, Topo7 VERY difficult to use
Who doesn’t like presents, especially one that you’re researched and given yourself?  I really tried to like the Delorme Earthmate PN-20.  I hiked with it through the woods and through Central Park in New York City.  I liked ...

Try A Different Brand
by shhorn68 ,Aug 18 '09
Pros: Comes on when the power button is pushed.
Cons: Slow. Not user friendly.  Need a computer for usefulness.
I received the GPS PN-20 as a Christmas present.  I have wanted a GPS unit for some time and was excited.  I am not sure what the PN-20 cost but, in my opinion, it is not worth whatever was paid for it.  I am very disappointed and I tried hard to like the PN-20.  This product is extremely difficult to use.  It provides poor navigation help and is incredibly slow to respond to movement.  The unit gains its most usefulness if a computer (preferably a laptop) is used in conjunction with it.  I will be getting rid of it and try another brand that is more user friendly and more responsive.
