Pros: Great cinematography, good story line, good acting, interesting plot twists, psychologically terrifying Cons: The conclusion was too quick
Demonic dolls, shape shifting dreamscapes, psychedelic cinematography, serpentine plots, and gruesome deaths . . . it’s so been done before. Perhaps the actual word would be overdone. Since the production of The Ring, everybody wants to get ...

Pros: dummies are scary, Mary Shaw is too, great ending Cons: too much style
Lately, the creative instinct to steal from seventies films has been so rampant I've been wondering when they'd get around to scavenging from Magic, that 1978 romantic thriller starring Anthony Hopkins and Ann Margret. If you hear a clunk in the dark, ...

Pros: Excellent visuals, creepy dolls/Mary Shaw, entertaining as hell. Cons: The film likes to break the pace up and it's quite sad really.
Horror fans don't want a skimpy horror movie with no gore, no violence, scares that just make a 13 year old shiver. We want a true horror movie that is made to scare the hell out of us, make us squirm with all the gore, and make use shut our eyes ...

Pros: One of the better horror flicks; nice twist in the end Cons: The main character is bland; can't avoid the cheese element
"Beware the stare of Mary Shaw. She had no children only dolls. And if you see her in your dreams, Do not ever, ever scream." Leave it to my wife to find a horror movie to watch. She just cannot keep herself away from these movies. And ...

Pros: Fun story, good performances. Cons: Never scary.
REPRINTED FROM MONDOMAGAZINE.NET: James Wan is responsible for the cinematic abortion that was Saw. So was Mr. Leigh Whannell, the writer of Saw. Both men are also responsible for Dead Silence. Saw attempted to be an ...

Pros: clever premise Cons: acting, dialogue, pace, character development, and most of all not scary in its attempts
No Spoiler. Dead Silence - a film about an insane ventriloquist who's haunting past wrecks terror by charging her victims by cutting out their tongue. From the duo directors, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, who directed the absolutely terrifying ...

Pros: An interesting twist on a played out sub-genre. Cons: Bit of hammy acting, and the dead bodies could've been given a bit more screentime.
If there's one thing that's obvious after watching the second original movie by James Wan and Leigh Whannell (the creative team behind the Saw franchise), it's that these guys definitely have a thing for creepy dolls. Now, instead of merely being a ...

Pros: Clever, plot twists, simple, creepy without resorting to simple minded gore Cons: Acting isn't great, Won't appeal to hardcore slasher crowd, can't stand marionettes now
I love movies in general but really enjoy horror movies and after seeing the uncut version of this I remember why I enjoy them. It gave me one of the best scares in recent memory right there with REC(Spanish movie that Quarantine was a remake of that was ...

Pros: Ventriloquist dummies=scary Cons: many ‘scary’ scenes fall flat, poor acting, not that original
Dead Silence, like many horror movies, opens with a death scene. It takes a little while to get to the brutal murder of the main characters wife. Jamie Ashen (Ryan Kwanten) and his wife (Laura Regan) receive a strange package- a scary looking ...

Definitely There's Silence, But Not The Good Kind
by femasia ,Mar 16 '07
Pros: a little scary at times Cons: not enough room to list
There was silence alright in this 2007 movie, especially at the end of this movie because it was bad. The movie was probably somewhat okay, not even average; it was a little suspenseful and scary in some scenes, but then the ending is leaves you scratching your head and possibly uttering a few choice curse words too. The plot starts to fall apart somewhere in the middle of the movie; there is really no depth to the storyline. I would give this movie a "D"; I didn't give it an "F" because you could sit through it until near the end. I should have stayed home and get some sleep. This movie about this ventriloquist coming back from the dead through the dolls and killing people almost seem like a copy of "Chucky."
