Pros: hilarious, great acting Cons: a couple parts may be a little...disgusting...for some
We all want to believe that our deceased friends and family were wonderful, flawless people so we can look back on their lives with the feeling that they accomplished something and left the world a better place with their passing. Perhaps it shouldn’t be ...

Pros: great characters and situations Cons: requires patience in the setup
British comedies come in two types: the silly Monty Python stuff that Americans get, and the dry, intelligent, stuff that Americans don't. I'm speaking in the broadest of terms, which is why Death at a Funeral is so exceptional. This is great stuff, ...

Pros: relaxing and funny Cons: you need to be ready to laugh so hard your stomach hurts
This movie was an excellent one. It went back to Englands school of laughter and I give it an A plus. The first 5 minutes is a little boring but once you pass them its well worth the wait, every possible thing that could go wrong, goes wrong at this ...

Pros: simply hilarious; cast; never morbid Cons: you need a sense of British humor
My neighbor past the apartment buildings elevator wondered where all the madcap laughter was coming from. It took her a while to realize it was coming from me! She says shes never heard me laugh so hysterically before and I truly dont ...

Pros: Very imaginative writing, I thought. A dark comedy that wasn't violent. Cons: One gross scene could've been left out. One more like it would've downgraded my rating.
THE PLOT: The plot was very simple and it didn't really go anywhere. The purpose of the movie doesn't really depend on much of a plot. In a nutshell, there's a funeral planned at a home outside London. The funeral gives a backdrop and a context for ...

Pros: Very funny with some nice surprises Cons: Some plot devices used too much
Death at a Funeral is a hilarious British comedy about a funeral. It’s from American director Frank Oz, but with a mostly British cast. Some of the comedy is a bit dark, as you might imagine, but it all plays out very well. The movie begins at ...

Pros: Many laugh-out-loud moments; several cringe moments. Cons: Will not appeal to all, very quirky.
Frank Oz, perhaps more famed for his puppets and a few successful movies, embarks on a wild and farcical journey with his quirky British comedy Death at a Funeral. As we enter the movie, with the undertakers bringing the wrong body to the ...

Pros: Funny, twisted humor Cons: None that I can think of
Ah England, the pastoral countryside and the quintessential manor house, all ready and dressed up for a party
wait, this isn't a party but a funeral which we learn when we notice that all the guests arriving and milling about are dressed in black. ...

Pros: A quick sequence of odd events, with tons of weird characters - well-played. Cons: The dialogue is sometimes too quick and indistinct to understand
Have you noticed that much of the British cinematography centers on weddings and funerals? Sometimes, it takes more than a single such event to make a movie (remember Four Weddings and a Funeral?), but in this case, we are dealing with just ...

Pros: Everything and everyone. Cons: Well...TOO OTT with the grossness and proFanity.
Everyone has relatives that they only seem to see at weddings and funerals. This is so true at the funeral of a fine old English gentleman named Edward that somebody turns up whom NOBODY can identify. He's not a relative; he was a friend of the deceased. ...

Pros: Still making me giggle from time to time Cons: Two distinct "Eeeeewwww" moments, but that's it
Trailers are the only form of advertising that works on me. I can see a commercial for soap and never think about it again in my entire life, but if I see a movie trailer that looks interesting, I'll log that away until I get my mitts on the movie ...

Pros: ensemble cast, with Alan Tudyk having the showiest role Cons: bathroom humor
Perhaps I am missing a gene for finding English silliness funny. I think much of the comedy of Peter Sellers and Monty Python is stupid, though I have some weakness for their puns. I found "Cold Comfort Farm" quite funny, along with the "classic" Alec ...
