Pros: More diverse and varied than anything else they’ve done before… Cons: Fans of old AFI will probably hate it…but new fans should enjoy it!
From their own admission, they spent a lot of time writing every song, every guitar and every bass note, every keyboard note and carefully inserting every sound effect and they paid much more attention to all the little details on this album. Davey ...
Pros: Quality, up-tempo Goth rock that rarely gets tiresome. Cons: Annoying screaming. The album is simply too short.
Goth rockers A Fire Inside changed their sound to a more mainstream style on their last album, Sing the Sorrow, and the move paid off. The album was a certified million-seller and AFI became one of the most exciting bands in rock music almost ...
Pros: 12 slabs of deliciously crafted Gothic Pop Rock Cons: modeling sucks
The Angry Rant Preface First and foremost, let me get something off my chest and make an assertion thats probably not as bold as Id like to pretend it is. Sing The Sorrow was not AFIs Pop album. The Art Of ...
Pros: The 'fire inside'... or, as they themselves would say, 'what's left of it' Cons: Everything about it is recycled and has been done before, tacky
You can just picture first hearing AFI (fyi: A Fire Inside) in 2003 with a minor rock hit. I forgot them as one of those rather faceless emo acts that would never really get a name for themselves, left them alone for three years, and ...
Pros: 2 or 3 decent tracks Cons: mostly doesn't work...at all.
California goth-rockers AFI (A Fire Inside) have come a very, very long way since their days spoofing Reservoir Dogs and singing about the idiocy of High School Football Heroes. What was originally conceived in the early 90's as a ...
Pros: It is AFI, some of the tracks are pretty good. Cons: Not enough of them are good.
I have been a fan of AFI for quite some time now, following the band every since their release of some of their earlier CD's. With that being said, I like most of their earlier CD's, including Black Sails in the Sunset and The Art of Drowning, but I ...
Pros: Nick 13? Doing backup vocals again? Oh yeah. We missed you on Sing the Sorrow. Cons: Miss Murder seems designed to be drawing listeners in from the pop-punk culture.
Run in the right circles (or, to look back, the wrong), and you'll find that AFI is a dirty word. One not to be spoken aloud. The elitist punk rock, hypocrites who have every release before Sing the Sorrow and refuse to acknowledge the existence of the ...
Pros: Some good songs, experimental, it's AFI Cons: Not many memorable songs, not nearly as aggressive as previous albums, no hidden track
To start off, I'm a big fan of AFI. I have all their CDs, including EPs, and love every one of them. They have changed their style several times, so there is something for everyone. I didn't start listening to them until their more goth-inspired era ...
Pros: Good lyrics, decent riffs. Somewhat gothic undertones. Cons: At only 44 minutes long, left me wanting for more.
The glory days of The Clash are long gone, as are those of the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, and Rancid, just to name a few. These bands and more set the stage for many great punk acts to come, as well as some not so great bands. However, it seems that ...
Pros: Some of the tracks are greatly impressive and hugely powerful. Cons: A lot of the album is quite weak and lifeless.
'Decemberunderground' is the latest album to have been released by the American rock band AFI (A Fire Inside). I had not been looking forward to its release whatsoever when it came about in 2006. 'Miss Murder' was chosen to be the albums lead single ...
In 7th grade, AFI were big in my middle school. I’ll never forget walking home listening to “Answer That And Stay Fashionable,” the angst-ridden disc of sweaty skate punk anthems. And as AFI grew and developed, I was there every step of the way—and ...
Pros: AFI is back to making music Cons: Not enough scream, not nearly enough music!
The new AFI CD Decemberundergound came out last month and I'm sure disappointing many fans due to the lack of screaming. I am one of those fans! In this CD AFI has changed thier type of music, it is now more mellow than previous AFI. Mellow is good, ...
Scream? Or Slight Scream? by quinney50 ,Aug 30 '06
Pros: AFI is back to making music! Cons: There is not a lot of music and not enough scream.
The new AFI CD Decemberundergound came out last month and I'm sure disappointing many fans due to the lack of screaming. This new CD is much more mellow than previous AFI music. Mellow is good, but i think it needs more screaming! #2 on the CD "Kill Caustic" is my favorite song on this CD cause it mixes up the mellow and the screaming.
A couple downsides to Decemberunderground are that the CD only has twelve songs. A CD needs to have more music. It is easier to listen to a CD more if it has more variety of music and/or more music. Another Downside is that it needs to be harder more often. It doesn't have to be just more screaming, but it needs to have harder beats like old AFI music. Don't get me wrong i like mellow, but they just need to mix it up.
I would recommend this CD to most people, but if your a hardcore punk rocker and expecting old AFI, ITS NOT THE SAME!
