Pros: Entertaining Christmas movie Cons: Silly and predictable at times. Not much character development.
For the last several years, there has been at least one new Christmas movie released every year. I do tend to like Christmas movies and have seen most of them. I was interested in seeing Deck the Halls after I first saw the trailer. ...
Pros: the female leads? Cons: weak casting, no real chemistry, a story that didn't work, not funny enough
Deck the Halls, and then punch me in the head for giving this film more of a chance than most of the critics did when they had their first screenings. The story is about Steve French primarily, content with his life in a small New England town. A man ...
Pros: A few funny scenes Cons: Characters lack charm
Deck the Halls stars Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito in a Christmas comedy about two rival family men who turn all the holiday festivities into a heated competition. While it does have a few funny parts, I didn’t get all that much out of it. My ...
Pros: a couple of good jokes Cons: The other 93 minutes are a waste of time.
Deck The Halls is a Christmas comedy about men who measure their manliness with the size of their tree. In typical Odd Couple fashion, one of them is fastidious; the other a bull in a China shop. One sets boundaries; the other crashes through them with ...
Pros: Talented cast, funny moments. Cons: Plot does not have enough ho-ho-ho.
Deck the Halls (2006) opens introducing Optometrist Steve Finch (Matthew Broderick) who lives an average ordinary life in a small town. Steve and his wife Kelly (Kristin Davis) have two children, Madison (Alia Shawkat) and Carter (Dylan Blue) and ...
Pros: DeVito's excessively festooned house makes Chevy Chase's in "Christmas Vacation" look like a 20-watt bulb. Cons: Hackneyed plot, not good character development.
When I first saw the commercials for "Deck the Halls," I was excited. Visions of another "Christmas Vacation" danced in my head like tantalizin sugar plums. Could this be another movie to add to my collection of Christmas classics, along with the ...
Pros: Funny. Good music. Christmas display will get you in the spirit. Cons: Storyline is a bit silly. Weak performances from some of the actors.
Deck the Halls is a Christmas movie about a rivalry between two neighbors. Steve Finch, played by Matthew Broderick, is the town optometrist. Steve loves Christmas, and is considered the town's "Christmas Guy". Steve is very proud of being the Christmas ...
"Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la, la la la la. 'Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la, la la la la." John Ceiriog Hughes Deck The Halls is a traditional Christmas carol. The melody was originally ...
Pros: I can't think of anything except that it had an ending. Cons: A long movie, not the greatest acting, stupid plot.
I hated this movie. It was horrible. I expected more comedy to come from Danny DeVito, but it was weak. So the knew guy who moves into town Buddy (DeVito) is a middle aged man who has no idea what he wants in life or what will make him happy. He has ...
Deck the Halls....Deck the producers. by tiffani_0602 ,Nov 24 '06
Pros: Kid friendly except for the sleeping bag episode. Cons: Not as funny as I thought it would be.
This movie was OK, I watched the trailer and was really excited to see it. I took my 11 year old son and 5 of his school friends to see it and they all loved it. I think the trailer was more funny than the movie. I really thought there would be more comedy and was wishing to add something to the christmas collection of movies. There really has not been a good Christmas movie out since National Lampoons, this just did not compair. So if your looking for a good christmas story, not much of a comedy....this is the movie.
It Does More Than Decks The Halls But In A Good Way by femasia ,Nov 23 '06
Pros: Funny, family oriented movie, great Christmas holiday movie Cons: A bit childish at times
This movie was surprisingly pleasant, funny, and thoughtful. I don't think the movie trailer does this movie justice because the it's a lot funnier than the trailer showed. It's a great movie to get you into the spirit of Christmas even if you're not a Christian; there's definitely a message there about the importance of family and consideration that transcend all cultures and boundaries. The movie is not meant to be so deep in philosophy, but it does lend itself to that. It also has a lot of music and scenery about Christmas that the kids will definitely enjoy; it also has some sexual overtones that adults and most teenage boys will be able to identify. We've all been there where we move into a new neighborhood; and we eventually find out whether we like our weird neighbors, competing with the neighbors on everything from decoration to financial status, or worse yet, hate your neighbors like DeVito's neighbor did initially. In the end, everyone appreciated each other. A good movie to get your mind off the holiday traffic.
Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito are hilarious as two neighbors trying to put the "win" in "winter" in one of the year's funniest comedies! Determin...More at HotMovieSale.com
