Pros: Fast, easy set up, price was good with online coupon Cons: Lots of preinstalled software, large tower
It was time. I could no longer put up with my six year old 450MHz home computer, even after ditching AOL and going with DSL. Even the smallest amount of spyware on this PC would bring it to its knees; scans have been run weekly on this machine just to ...
Pros: Great value, expandable/upgradable, new features such as BTX and PCIE x16 slot Cons: For it's price, nothing. Will need to upgrade Vid card for games
I bought my 9100 with the following set up for about 1150 with shipping and taxes. Pentium D 2.8ghz Windows XP Home w/ SP2 19" LCD Flat Panel Analog Monitor 1G DDR2 533Mhz Ram 160G Harddrive DvD drive CDR/RW Soundblaster 24 bit Soundcard ATI ...
Pros: Too many to list, LCD, Performance, Price Cons: Tried to think of one but couldn't
I am a design student, and when looking for a replacement computer for my laptop I had many criteria. Since I need to use many powerfull and high recourse using programs daily and often simultaneously it needed to fast out of the box and highly and ...
Pros: Great design. Dual Core processor, Whisper quiet. Cons: Customer service and technical support.
I'm a computer addict. I buy a new system just about every year and have to say this is the best ever. Quiet as a mouse in church. No fan noise period! Finally Dell has easy access to the front USB ports. Plus a convenient media card reader. The ...
Pros: Power system for under $1,000. Lots of memory and big hard drive comes standard. Cons: Having to pay extra for a 1 year warranty.
I've had my Dell 9100 desktop for about two weeks now and love it. Very fast and quiet. Easy set-up. This is a top of the line computer for less than $1,000. I got it at that price with the following options: 19 inch flat panel monitor (free upgrade), flat panel speakers, wireless keyboard and mouse, DVD burner, Sound Blaster card, Microsoft Works suite, floppy drive, free shipping and a one year warranty. I would seriously recommend anyone considering this system to also get these upgrades. Dell specials (free upgrades, rebates and free shipping) change every few weeks so you may need to keep checking back to get what you want at that price. If you're in a hurry, you may pay much more. Mine was delivered within three weeks of order and tracking from order receipt through build process and then shipping was available from Dell's web site.
Pros: Performance, capacity, design Cons: none found so far
I run a digital photo business and use photoshop day in day out. My old HP system was getting too slow so I needed to upgrade.
Enter Dell Outlet Store. With a budget of $1500 I need to get the biggest bang for the buck. I needed XP pro and wanted tons of RAM and a FAST CPU. Photoshop supports multithreading and would make good use of a hyperthreading processor, but surely 2 cores would be better than 1 and a half.
System came in at $1200 with 2GB DDR2 RAM, 2.8GHz dual core CPU, 160 GB SATA drive, DL DVDRW. It also has a nVidia 6800 graphics card.
This system is seriously fast at any given time I usually have e-mail, browser, photoshop, indesign and frontpage open - it doesn't skip a beat - if you are looking for power - this is it.
Pros: nice design, good power, ok price Cons: To much extra software installed on the computer. (do a clean install)
I paid $1450 for my 9100 and this think works pretty good. I know I could have built one for about $200 less. I play games and do my design work on this computer. FYI: This is the same computer as an XPS, it just has a different case. This is base on my configuration for $1450.
Now as far as the tech support, I would say it is pretty good. I do have to agree with the guy earlier about it sometimes being hard to understand the people helping you.
Dell 9100 just runs and runs like a Japanese car. by pacerintl ,Nov 29 '05
Pros: A very smooth running hassle free system.
Cons: None really.
I bought my Dell 9100 in July 2005 and use it mainly for internet surfing, online music videos via Yahoo and as a Music Center along with Yahoo Music. I work with and on computers for a living but it's nice not to have to hassle with my PC at home.
I have a Windows XP Pro with NVIDIA Geforce 6800 video card, 160 Gig HD, 1 Gig of Ram, NEC-DVD-CD-RW drive.
Of course I have up to date anti virus software and have a hardware and software based firewall, thus far I have never had a problem with this machine. It runs really quiet and when you touch the case there is just a very mild vibration and the case has never gotten even remotely warm. XP Home, XP Pro, XP Media Center, and Windows Server 2003 all run just great on this rig.
Pros: Fast, easy set up, price was good with online codes Cons: White sides of tower look generic
I purchased the Dell Dimension 9100 for my home business about a month ago. I have been very pleased.
I previously was on a slow, custom built system that was crashing due to spyware problems.
I love my flat screen monitor, and the speed of this system. I like that it came preinstalled with all the needed software.
I somewhat dislike that the large tower has white sides. Everything else on the PC is black or silver. This makes it look kind of generic to me.
I love the Media Center function of this PC. It organizes our digital pictures and we can view them as a slide show with music and easily download to a CD to ship to the grandparents.
Additionally, it was easy to set up and I was up and running on it within one day.
It was delivered promptly after ordering. I found the Dell discount codes somewhat hard to decipher, but if you hunt around online, you can usually find the best deal.
Good enough.., but not great by griswolm ,Aug 26 '06
Pros: Quiet, reasonably powerful, good chassis, reasonable price Cons: Runs hot, bad TV tuner card, customer support experience is less than ideal.
I'm a "serious" computer user, and I bought this computer for my wife. It has Windows Media Center installed, our first media center. The additional use and functionality has been great. That said, the tunner card has been nothing but problems (Angel card). Long story short, it has been replaced twice (and the motherboard once) and things are no better. TV recordings will occasionally be in B&W or fail completely. We have resorted to scheduling nightly reboots of the computer, which seems to keep the problem to a minimum. As soon as it is out of warranty I intend to replace the TV tuner card with something else, which should solve the problems.
Pros: I bought this as I heard great things about it. Cons: Horrible service.
I purchased a Dell 9100(over $1800) and installed Mozilla. The first week everything was fine. During the second week I kept getting various error messages. Then my system would not start. I called Dell support(I should say non support)and being kept waiting over 40 min. and talking to people I can barely understand all I got was them insisting it is a software problem when I am getting intermittent hardware error messages. I went through the process to make the computer as if it just came from the factory. I am afraid to load any software on this machine as it will die again! I believe I bought an $1800 door stop! Next time I will buy a computer through a company that I can physically visit in the event there is a problem. Dell has horrible service! I am very sad over this.
Pros: None Cons: Everything about it including the non existent technical support.
I have had nothing but problems with the Dell Dimension 9100 computer that I purchased, and the Technical support is a joke. I would never purchase a computer from Dell again, and advise everyone I know not to do so either.
