Pros: price, free wireless card, free printer Cons: some design quirks, low max resolution, poor support
Last Christmas I thought I would try and find a good low price laptop for my wife. She was resuming her college courses for the spring semester and I thought a portable computer for her to check her email and type up papers could be convenient when she ...
Pros: Affordable! Smaller and lighter than many other models. Cons: Might not be powerful enough for heavy duty gaming, graphics work, or audio/video production.
My desktop had been dying for months. A long slow death. My husband had replaced his desktop with an HP laptop, and we decided that when the time came, I'd get a laptop, we'd set up a wireless network at home, and we'd get back the little bedroom we ...
Pros: Almost as Cheap as Air, Gets the Job Done Cons: Tech support from India, Operating system disks not normally included free
If you want high power computing and full capability gaming, this is not for you...For everyone else, this is the ticket to an inexpensive and effective computer. As a graduate student in an applied math field, I don't have the time or inclination for ...
Pros: Good prize.
Battery lasts.
Pentium M 1.6 GHz quite fast.
Complete and simple. Cons: Slow Graphics card.
Efficiency decreases too much when burning a CD/DVD.
A bit heavy (2.72kg).
I bought this notebook for the prize, I thought at first on IBM, but since it is for my wife and was going to be on a desk 99% of the time, I didn't need a tough IBM, so I looked for not so expensive notebooks. Plastic looks cheap, if you have to travel ...
Pros: reliable, fast Pentium M processor, long battery life Cons: software package is very small, no wide screen offered
The little laptop that could, an ugly duckling, a gem that needs to be found and used in order to be fully appreciated. All of the above describe how I feel about my Dell Inspiron 2200 notebook computer. Despite its conventional ugly looks (black case ...
Pros: cheap, works well, sleek appearance Cons: no scrollbar, screen attracts a lot of dust
I love this laptop (upon which I am typing right now). I have had it for more than 3 months and I have had zero problems so far (which is a lot more than I can say for my previous computer). It was a college graduation gift and my parents ordered it ...
I had to return this laptop because the keyboard was so cheap; I'd last bought a Dell in 1998 (Inspiron 3500 I think) and the whole thing was good, good screen, nice keyboard with ergonomic handprint for typing, etc. The laptop was my desktop ...
Pros: Light, Cheap and sound quality Cons: Slow, prone to problems
My home desktop had wasted several hundred pounds by breaking for no real reason. So I decided to go for a neat, well priced laptop. So I bought this for less than £500 from Dell.
Biggest mistake I ever made. It worked perfectly for around 3 months. THen it went to hell, first it slows down so drastically that my 1st computer (which had a 500 MhZ processor) seemed faster, then Games which were over 5 years old wouldnt work anymore but recent ones would (which may sound good to you but it isnt).
Then it refused to switch off when I asked it too. And finally the DVD Drive got a mind of its own and started up randomly when i didnt need it.
But it does have some features that redeem it slightly.
It is definately lightweight, the sound is remarkably sharp and it is cheap. But I would recommend people steer clear of Dell as the customer services have not been as helpful as other companies such as Apple and HP.
If You Want a Good Paper Weight by ajjka ,Apr 18 '08
Pros: Small; worked fine for about a year Cons: Horrible tech support; not reliable; poor quality replacement parts
I would not recommend this machine to anyone, unless you want a good paper weight. This laptop is only 2 1/2 years old and is on its 3rd hard drive. I had to argue with tech support to get them to fulfill the terms of the extended warranty. Now the latest hard drive they sent is refurbished, so don't think you are even getting new parts with all the money spent on the warranty. They also don't send someone to install it like they advertise unless "they" deem it to be necessary. I have had horrible experience talking with up to 4 different technical support people in the same day. They will make you spend hours on the phone "diagnosing" obvious hardware problems before agreeing to even send a new part. Be sure to do you homework before buying any laptop pc. I sure wish we did.
Pros: None Cons: All cons. Slow and trouble-prone. Cannot keep a HD in it.
My wife bought this and didn't know. The guy on the phone sold her a bill of goods. We're on our third hard drive now. The slowest most trouble-prone piece of crap I have ever seen. We upgraded and max'd out the RAM and it still is slower than molasses. Then you have to call Mullahmullah in India for customer service. No more. I will not deal with any company that ships their customer service off-shore. Dell should be ashamed of themselves and this piece of crap.
Inspiron 2200 - Average and very dependable by chucktee ,May 03 '09
Pros: Dependable, basic laptop computer that didn't cost much. Average battery life and graphics. Cons: It is heavy and when giving presentation, the AC plug is necessary.
I bought this Inspiron 2200 from Costco because of their excellent service and return policy. The computer proved to be average but a great deal at around $600 because I've been using it daily for well over 3 years now and it's performed flawlessly. I've been thinking about replacing it but honestly it works now as well as it did when I purchased it. I will likely buy another Dell with a T8600 processor and 4 GB but as long as this laptop keeps pace with the net and my wireless system in the home it's a keeper. I have been careful with it and it's never been dropped so perhaps it is delicate as I've noted with some of the other reviews. Generally, everything still works on this one after thousands of hours of typing and internet browsing.
