Pros:Good heat/noise management
Solid design
good performer Cons:I got stuck with my sister's notebook?
Dell's most popular widescreen offering (the Inspiron 6000) can be configured to meet everyone's needs from the Multimedia user to the gamer. A while back my sister asked me to purchase a Dell notebook for her family, yet after I ordered it they had ...
Pros: Quick and thrifty CPU, nice keyboard, good performance for the money Cons: No IR, DVI or microphone. SD reader doesn't do MMC.
Several months back a very bad man absconded with my Dell Insprion XPS. I was sad to see it go in that manner, but in a way it was for the best. While I liked the performance, the battery life was way too short and the laptop itself was way too heavy. ...
Pros: Fast and mobile. Convenient usb ports and card reader. Great graphics Cons: Screen could be a little better (go with the upgrade)
I currently own a desktop but wanted a second computer that I could take with me to school. I purchased the Dell Inspiron 6000 and absolutely love it. I use it mainly for school work, multitasking, internet, multimedia, and gaming, and it excels at every ...
Pros: Good value for the money
Great screen
Decent battery life Cons: Loaded down with software you might not want
Dell support agent could drive you insane
I actually got the Celeron M version of this laptop and have been very happy with it. I got one of the "$750 off" deals if $1,500 or more was spent. I went a little over that, upgraded to XP Pro, put in Bluetooth and Office XP. I upgraded the RAM from ...
Pros: Price, Build quality, superior speakers, Bluetooth, Wireless, robust, excellent screen Cons: No bluetooth/Wireless ON/OFF button, Keyboard a feels a little inferior.
Have used the Dell 6000 for 9 months now, it is a very good laptop. I like the choice of screens offered by Dell, WSGA, WSXGA etc. The screen is very good, the text is very clear the graphics are amazing. The widescreen is really cool, gives you miles of ...
Pros: Widescreen, wireless, quick w/add-on video card, not terribly heavy, but not light Cons: A bit heavy, somewhat boring design, gotta move fast to get a killer deal
I had been eyeing Dell's widescreen Inspiron laptops for 8 or 9 months - the then-new 700m, and the 6000 - watching deals pass me by (gotapex.com - rocks!) but still not in a hurry to splurge as my work laptop suited me fine. Well, I changed jobs and ...
Pros: GREAT battery life, good feeling keyboard, and the speakers are good for a notebook. Cons: SCREEN, video card, hard drive reliability, and case material. Dell support call center.
Well, it has been about a year since I purchased my Inspiron 6000. At first, I was just like anyone else who got an awesome deal on what they THOUGHT was an awesome laptop. I was bright and happy... until I started noticing the downfalls. ...
Pros: Great screen, good power, nice keypad. No need for external keyboard. Cons: A bit heavy.
I bought the Dell Inspiron 6000 model, after a miserable experience with Toshiba, 3 years ago and have loved it from the beginning. The larger screeen enables me to more easily have several windows open at one time. This was my first XP computer and I ...
Pros: Good battery life, OK performance, external media-control buttons, OK speakers. Cons: Integrated graphics card-GPU... no way.
First off, all laptops and PC have similar guts. That is, manufacturers buy components from a factory and bundle particular units and software packages, slap their name on it and viola, you just paid x for an x that is really a y. So the question with ...
Pros: Quick for a Celeron, Budget-Friendly, Good All-Around Buy, Nice Keyboard, Good Touchpad, WIDESCREEN Cons: You've heard it before: When running off the battery, screen is dimmer than with AC.
We bought this computer with a Celeron M, upgraded to 60 hard drive and 512 memory. Paid $862.10, total. This included Windows XP Media Center Edition and WorksSuite 2005, also. You really have to pay attention, and I mean every day, because that's ...
WIDESCREEN Makes more of a difference than you think! by moremail ,Mar 08 '06
Pros: Widescreen, DVI output availability Cons: Short battery life
I bought 4 of these Inspiron 6000 laptops several months ago as I work for an electronic sign company and we use them to drive LED signage with. We have 3 of these at a navy base, (one of our customer) that are driving signs from inside a metal box that has a small heater at the base of the signs, (YES these stay outside all year long!)
From what I can see these are built pretty well, they hold up to almost daily use and they've been running 24/7 since we installed them 4 months ago.
The only complaint we've had is since they have a widescreen, should they end up, for whatever reason running on battery power, they die fairly quickly compared to most other laptops. Now whether it's just the widescreen or if the processor or hard drive is power hungry, I don't know but they never seem to last much more than an hour without being plugged in.
Other than that, they're great machines and Dell did a pretty good job putting them together!
Dell Inspiron 6000D Centrino 2.13 by sblut ,Jan 07 '06
Pros: good screen good sound and graphics fast computer solidly built. Cons: you have to adjust screen brightness after setup .
I purchased the 6000D on e-bay in Dec.I also bought an XPS m140 the smaller lightweight version of this computer.I sold the XPS I did not like it even though it was lighter(seemed flimsy to me)not a good build. 5.5 lbs vs 6.5 lbs for the 6000.The 6000 seems more solid to me. I have the 2.13 processor centrino the 100gb hard drive 2gbs of DDR2 ram the 128 ATI video the 8xdvdrw drive pretty much loaded.Seems to work very well faster than my desktop pentium 4 2.8 hyperthread dell 4700 ..its not that lightweight but its a very nice machine.Cost me 1200 this model is 1900 on dells website so I saved some $$$$.I think its a very nice computer for the money like the 15.4 inch screen the graphics and the sound from the speakers.Like the controls on the front for dvdrw drive and also wireless is fast. Not lightweight but not as heavy as inspiron 9300 that one weighs a ton.
Excellent Desktop Replacement by stinkypete ,Apr 13 '06
Pros: the Screen, price, customizable and upgradable Cons: A bit heavy, techsupport
I needed a large screen with power that I could fit in a bag. I shopped around for a while, and after owning a dell inspiron 8400 3 years ago, i chose Dell again. the 1920x1200 screen is the best friend for a graphic designer. Match that with 128 mb's of Video RAM, and 1 GB of System RAM, and you have a great desktop replacement.
In the past, i've owned the 8400 and the 8100. the 8100 was a peice of junk and it was replaced by the 8400 which had the same 15.4 inch screen that they 6000 has.
The keyboard if comfortable and well layed out. the touchpad is great also, but i use a mouth 90% of the time. The screen (i can't stop talking about the screen) is bright and crisp.
Performance is good considering i bought the 1.85 ghz w/ 100 gb 5400 rpm hard drive. I'm no game player, but i do multi-task alot.
The laptop was $2300 with the extended warranty and windows xp pro, but with a $600 coupon and free shipping, it came to just over $1800. it was a great buy!
Good price, good performance by brcole ,Dec 06 '05
Pros: Price, wide-screen, battery life (9cell), user friendly design. Cons: Slow at times
Ive had this laptop for 6 months now. Have had nothing but good luck with it so far. Ive abused it to say the least. It can handle a lot of punishment. I would recommend the 9 cell battery upgrade for approx 4.5 - 5 hours run time. It is not the fastest laptop on the block but for the price I am willing to sacrifice a little speed. Dell put a lot of thought into the layout and design of this laptop. Everything is designed with the user in mind which a lot of laptops Ive seen do not account for. If your looking for a school or work machine and price is a factor then give this laptop a serious look. I am using this as a school machine and it is perfect for this application. I would not recommend for a gaming machine or CAD without a atleast a 1 gig memory upgrade and video card. the processor runs at 600Mhz under normal circumstances but steps to 1.5ghz. The processor runs around 35 degrees celcius.
Inspiron 6000: Best Laptop Ever! by sparky5590 ,Aug 13 '06
Pros: Good price, quiet fans, size and weight, fast processor, big hard drive, tech support Cons: None at all.
I've had my Inspiron 6000 since May 2005, and have had no problems with it at all. Never. It works excellently, is an awesome size and weight (perfect for mobile people), has a wide - screen, has quiet fans, has awesome battery life (I get up to 10 hours!), charges fast, has a fast processor and a big hard drive. This laptop may be small, but it packs a punch.
If you're looking for an awesome laptop built for performance and mobility, the Inspiron 6000 is the laptop for you.
