Pros: Sturdy construction, excellent keyboard, bright display Cons: Faulty and unreliable touchpad, low battery life
I purchased a refurbished Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook computer for use at school and to replace my venerable old Compaq Presario 5070 desktop. My experience has been mostly positive, but some glaring problems have made it a less than ideal machine. ...
Pros: a great affordable, customizable system that can do anything you need Cons: you have to wait for it to be shipped :)
I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop after deciding that I needed a portable computer for school. I was looking for something with 512mb of ram, long battery life, decent graphics, and widescreen. I looked around at local stores, until ...
Pros: A great computer for the price. Highly recommended! Cons: No recovery disk. It is on the HD but if it crashes, you're in trouble.
I thought since others have covered some of the features of this model that I would talk about durability since it's now been almost a year since I bought this computer. First off all, it's VERY durable. It has been accidentally knocked off of a ...
Pros: Wide 15.4 inch screen, media controls, wireless, ultra expandable Cons: Touchpad, weight
Over the last 5 years, I have owned a variety of laptops for use with my business. I've also bought quite a few for associates of mine who have no idea what's a good buy. However, I think my latest purchase of a Dell Inspiron 6000 is probably the ...
Pros: Can be customized for speed, battery life, and improved screen for less than $1200. Cons: DVD+R writer does not burn DVD-R discs
My Inspiron 6000 is a Pentium M 740, 15.4” WSXGA+ LCD, 1GB DDR2, 60 GB 7200 rpm HD, DVD-RW, 64 MB Radeon Video Card, 80 Whr 9 cell battery, remote control, windows XP media edition. I custom-ordered using a $500 discount coupon from Yahoo search . Type “ ...
Pros: lots of features for price: big hardrive, dvd burner, battery. Cons: windows, quality of case, keyboard, screen, weight, heat.
I have had this computer for about three months and I have been pretty disappointed. The screen is too dim to use outside during the daytime without squinting. The computer feels cheap. You have to pick it up with two hands not only because it is really ...
Pros: Really big screen. Cons: Really big Blue Screen.
I bought a brand-new Inspiron 6000 notebook in October. I thought having a bigger computer laptop (it has a 15.4" screen) would be wonderful, but it is extremely heavy. Of course, I'm really only using it at home, so I figured the weight wouldn't ...
There's some great stuff and some bad stuff by andrewbolton ,Dec 08 '06
Pros: If you get a working model, the features are great. Performance is great too. Cons: First one didn't work at all. Dell Financial is the devil himself.
I purchased my first Dell Inspiron 6000 in October 2005. Right out the box, it failed to work--nothing. Yes, it was handsome and I LOVED the video control features on the front of the box, but it was a dud.
I convinced myself to send it back and try again. The new one worked fine and has given me much pleasure. With one exception, it has performed flawlessly. The exception? About every three months, the screen goes blank; rather it goes completely grey. If I reboot, all's well again.
Now, over a year later, Dell Financial has ruined my credit report. They have HARASSED THE HECK out of me saying that I needed to pay for the earlier-returned Inspiron. I have shown them return authorization codes and emails, etc., etc., etc., and they just won't quit. I am not alone either--I am a bankruptcy attorney and one of my current clients went into bankruptcy--largely due to Dell Financial. Pay cash or shop elsewhere.
Pros: When the computer works, it works well. Not worth the aggrevation though. Cons: Customer service is non-existent.
This computer arrived with a buzzing noise related to images on the screen. It is very loud and annoying. I have been on the phone with Dell customer service several times regarding the noise and they cannot figure it out. Furthermore, they will not send a technician to investigate, even though I have on-site tech support. The computer also stopped working one night for no reason. By stopped working, I mean nothing happened at all, not even the light to indicate the battery was charging. In six months, I have been through two motherboards and a power cord, spent over 10 hours on the phone with techs, and had a tech at my house for over 5 hours. The buzzing noise is still present
Pros: Fast delivery Cons: Difficult touch pad, frozen cursor problems, lack of support, power gaps
This Dell laptop has been nothing but trouble. In fact, I don't know why I bought it in the first place after all the problems I had with my former Dell Inspiron. I have to repeatedly turn it on and off for at least four to seven tries before I can get the cursor to unfreeze. Even when it is unfrozen, there are times it uncontrollably slides across the page. The power occasionally blinks off and on without any provacation. The touch pad is just plain awful to use and I once have had to visit the ER because I jammed my finger trying to set the cursor. Dell support? That's a misnomer. It should be call Dell UNsupport! No more Dells for me!
Pros: sleek design, great sound Cons: heavier than I thought, not sure I really needed the 15-inch screen
I bought this notebook a few months ago and I love it. It's fast, easy, screen is beautiful!! I keep it in my kitchen for fast referencing on just about any issue, take it to work and with the blue tooth technology can communicate with my Blue tooth phone.
Great product and total cost was $946 (as described) when coupled with all of Dell's rebates!!
NEVER buy Dell Notebooks by james30263 ,Jul 31 '06
Pros: Very nice notebook (When it worked!) Cons: Bad customer service
Shoddy craftsmanship on equipment (equipment isn't made to last)
I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 6000 fully loaded a few months ago and yes I payed a small mint for it. Well needless to say I open the notebook the other day, pushed the power button and nothing happened. At this time I logged into my preferred Dell account and they said I had 120 days left on my warranty. So next I call Dell support and what a mistake that was. I was on the phone for hours and when I finally was connected with someone they said my notebook had 0 days left on the warranty. WHAT BULL!!!! Dell doesn't stand behind their products and don't make the mistake I made in purchasing their products. Unless you want to be stuck with a very expensive paper weight!
