Pros: Speedy; top-notch graphics and screens; built-in Wi-Fi; dual pointing devices; great keyboard. Cons: Big and heavy; high-end models are expensive; no doors to protect PC Card slots.
Yes, it is big and heavy... but it also the most powerful and feature filled laptop I have ever seen. After a couple of weeks with this I, a serious gamer, hadn't turned my desktop on once. I sold it, I have no need for it anymore. The GeForce4 in the...

Pros: good desktop replacement Cons: questionable ethics
I ordered a new Dell $2000. The first 8200 I received had a bad graphics card. The screen would melt after about 5 mins. They sent a replacement. I asked if the replacement could have 6 mos free MSN since I already have AOL and had a bad experience with...

Pros: Decent Display Cons: Fit and finish leaves much to be desired. Technical support is the same.
I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 8200, complete with 1.8 gig P4 processor, 64 MB video card, 512 MB RAM, DVD/CD-RW, internal wi-fi card, and burlwood inserts. First, don't waste your money on the burlwood inserts. They're plastic and cost Dell...

Pros: great laptop if it worked properly Cons: absolutely horrible tech support!!!!
The laptop has had problems since I got it. I have called their tech support numerous times and have spent hours on the phone and have gotten nowhere! Everytime I call I have to repeat everything, I have to spend time re-explaining the problem,...

Pros: Has every port imaginable, unique looking palm rest design, keeps going and going. Cons: Frame/outer case feels kind of flexy when picked up, lack of USB 2.0 ports.
My brother and I each bought an Inspiron 8200 in October of 2002 spec'd with the 1.7 GHz processor, 256 MB of RAM, UXGA screen, and 40 GB hard-drive. Price was $1260 each, no tax. Neither of us were very computer savvy at the time, ...

A wonderful product!
by qtjen19 ,Jan 04 '05
Pros: Works well, large screen and good keyboard Cons: Slightly bigger than most laptops
I bought this Inspiron three years ago and I've used it ever since. And even though it is three years old, it still works beautifully. I haven't even needed any kind of technical support ever. this is definitely a piece of equipment worth investing in. In addition, any other Dell products seem to get the same response. When comparing different peoples' satisfactions with their laptops, I've almost always seen a positive reaction to the Dell laptop collection. I'd definitely recommend it. The only problem with this Inspiron is that it is slightly bigger than most laptops, but it's something that hasn't really bothered me, though it might not be ideal for others.

Poor Tech Support
by cpepper3 ,Sep 02 '04
Pros: It worked fast and well for two years Cons: Poor tech support - major components failed after two years.
I have only had my computer just over one year, and now something is wrong, it won't turn on, says there is no hard drive, and every time I call or write tech support I get a different "answer" to what is wrong. They told me I would need a new hard drive, but wouldn't give me the part number so that they could make the profit off of me sending it in, then they told me I would need a new motherboard, and it would cost $700, what will they ask for next? I can't even get an answer as to what happened or why.

Good Notebook
by jdotaku ,Aug 26 '06
Pros: Good pricing. Reliable. Good service. Cons: Cheap plastic construction. Service can vary. Size (its big)
I've had this notebook since august of 2002 (4years now) and its been good to me. Like all P4 notebooks it runs hot and is inefficient but it has performed well.
