Major Upgrade

by brazbit , Jul 02 '07
Pros: Size, Flexibility, Resolution, Number and variety of inputs
Cons: Size, Does not detect active inputs automatically Lack of audio support
Simply put, this monitor exceeded all my expectations. The first thing anyone notices is the sheer size of the monitor. It is a little intimidating when first pulled out of the box. When I first started using computers I had a twelve inch monitor. ...

The only thing better than a Dell 2407 is TWO of them.

by collink , Oct 01 '07
Pros: Huge, many input choices, high resolution, very bright, good color. Professional.
Cons: Usually good, but sometimes spotty customer service from Dell.
I edit feature films for an independent production house in Texas. During the process of upgrading my edit suite I settled on this Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP monitor. Given that I had become rather smitten with working on a dual monitor system, and that I ...

Dell 2407WFP

by ziggyzaggy , Jun 26 '06
Pros: Cost Colour Brightness Added features including a card reader and USB ports
Cons: some difficulty getting DVDs to display property the stand
(sometimes referred to as Dell 2407FPW, even by Dell) I received this monitor last week and I am using it for general functions using Office and movies. I purchased a monitor this size because I often need to look at documents side-by-side in order to ...

No Regrets Here

by mohaafiend , Feb 23 '07
Pros: Great color, contrast and no ghosting. Wide enough for side-by-side windows.
Cons: Price. Be ready to use the zoom function on your apps.
I'm a gamer and was looking to upgrade from a 19in CRT to a widescreen LCD. I also wanted a widescreen to make it easier to bring work home and be more productive. Everything I read about the older 24in Dells told me to stay away due to noise issues. ...

You'd Need this Guide to Make Your Decision!

by st_hannes , May 05 '07
Pros: Crisp, sharp pictures, myriad of inputs, 9-in-1 Card Reader, adjustable height, angles and tilt.
Cons: I really can't think of any.
Truthfully speaking, I have dreamt and dreamt of getting an LCD screen. My wife would vouch that I took hours and hours of our shopping time, ogling around in the electronics store in awe of this lithe miracle of human creation.. Point #1 I do not ...

Love/Hate relationship defined

by ninefoot3 , May 03 '07
Pros: Size, Asthetics, Card Reader, USB Hub, SUPURB build quality, Amazing Visual quality
Cons: Sits at a lean?? Price compared to 22" models, semi-slow start-up. Oh, Price ;)
I ordered my 24" Dell LCD (2407 FPW rev. 3) in August of 2006. I was quite pleased to receive the REV 3 model (noted on the sticker outside the box) since I'd read about issues online with prior revisions. I use my monitor for everything from Gaming, ...

Bright window on the world

by sleepr0 , Aug 05 '06
Pros: Bright, fast, excellent connectivity, easy adjustment, affordable
Cons: Average at anything but native resolution. Requires "horsepower" for gaming, poor documentation, controls difficult
The 24" Dell 2407 is as good as it gets in LCD-dom. It's well made and designed, very bright, great for watching DVDs and gaming. The 2407 (6/6/06 and later) with the A02 firmware is really smart and easy to live with. Adjusting position is fingertip ...

Difficult to do better
by maxnix ,Jun 11 '07
Pros: Quality, image, color, response time
Cons: Ummmmm.....let me think for a minute......no.
Run it with DVI output and its darn hard to beat, especially at the new reduced prices. New HP may be incrementally better, but if price is a factor, the Dell 2407WFP wins easily.

Outstanding product!
by mrsplinter ,Sep 06 '07
Pros: Brightness, color, fast response time, control set, and the weight.
Cons: Dell should put some work into the stands, The monitor leans towards the left.
I purchased one of these monitors and just love it. It's clear, bright, fast, and damn good looking. I'm running it with two 8800GTXs.

I loved it so much I bought two more and now have three of them running on my machine. Yes, I know it might be a little overkill but it's just awesome. They have a nice memory card reader to boot.

The only issue I have with the monitor is the stand. Well, the stand itself is very nice but the monitors seem to lean a little to the left. Not so much that its an issue just something Dell should take a look at fixing. I know some people might have a big problem with such an issue but it's not a show stopper.

Amazing Images
by johnson9489 ,Oct 09 '06
Pros: All around good value for the size screen and capabilities.
Cons: None so far, but I assume you're already willing to shell out the $$$.
I'm running Core Duo e6600, 7950 (1 GB) card with the Dell 2407. Set-ups a breeze and with the graphics card the 1920x1200 resolution looks amazing. I read the reviews at a number of websites and decided the Dell was the best value for what I was interested in - large screen gaming. I also looked at the 244T but can't comment given I went with Dell ($100 cheaper).

In one of my games demos there's a searchlight that flashes through the screen and I nearly had to avert my eyes. Brightness is great but to really appreciate the monitor you probably need a graphics card that supports higher resolutions with acceptable frame rates (if you're into gaming).

Dude! I finally got a Dell! (monitor) LOL
by bulldogg0007 ,Jun 26 '07
Pros: Ease of use, Unbelievable color and clarity, makes all your gaming friends jealous!
Cons: Well, it IS a Dell.
After exhaustively comparing flat panels, I settled on a Dell 2407WFP on a recommendation from a friend. I game for long hours each day on my PC, so I needed a monitor that could keep up with me. Well, it has not only kept up with me, it has done it without breathing hard. When I first got it I had it running on VGA, (I knew zip about DVI-D), but after some googling I tried out DVI-D and WOW! I also have my xbox360 hooked to it and gaming at 1080i is unbelievable. Gears of War is unbelievably crisp and clear and amazingly realistic. This monitors only flaw is that it's a Dell. Their customer service is abyssmal. But they hit a home run with this one. Forget a 22 inch monitor, get a Dell 2407WFP and experience heaven. And to anyone who thinks I am all about Dell, you should know I wouldn't have bought anything Dell for any reason. Until now. 'Nuff said!

Great TFT Screen for the Price
by klaynaxis ,Mar 10 '07
Pros: Bright, clear, cost effective, feature rich.
Cons: None.
I'm spoiled. At work I've got 4 of these monitors on my desk. So after a while I couldn't not have one for home. I looked at the alternatives (other vendors) and found that they were actually much more expensive.

This is good monitor, and it supports: component video, DVI, svhs, composite video, and vga.

Additionally, it has two USB ports and a media card interface for CF, SM,SD,MS,MMC compact flash cards.

It's bright, highly configurable, and a version good product.

(I use it to play Half-Life 2 at 1900x1200, and there is almsot no ghosting.)

Dead on Arrival
by fnulnu00 ,Nov 13 '06
Pros: None, although it sounds like it is nice when working.
Cons: Terrible quality control and customer support.
Dead on arrival. Dell customer support is off shore and impossible to deal with. After six hours emailing and on the phone, I don't know if or when they will replace the display despite the add-on five-year advanced replacement warranty. What a crock that is. They are supposed to cross-ship a replacement but haven't yet.

Don't buy this monitor - manufacturing defects
by samkr ,Nov 22 '06
Pros: It looks like a monitor
Cons: Unusable - defective quality
I bought this monitor from Dell's website. The monitor
worked for 2 days before it became unusable (the images
became completely garbled on the screen). Dell agreed
to replace the monitor after I called up over the phone.
(this required calling up the numbers and emailing etc).
But finally they sent me a replacement monitor.
However, even the replacement monitor has a problem.
The display image flickers on the replacement monitor -
and the technical support at Dell could not fix it. Now I
have made over 10 phone calls, email, chat with Dell but
they have assured me, but not replaced the monitor. I
wasted a lot of time talking with Dell customer support -
dropping off the old monitor at UPS store, etc. - and
they still have not resolved the issue.
