Pros: Inexpensive. Excellently designed for portability between the vehicle and home. Cons: No internal recording features, but what do you expect for the price?
First, let me say that I've disliked FM radio for a long time, because what passes for good music nowadays often-times leaves a lot to be desired. I let go of FM radio in the late 80's and never looked back, but have been an avid fan of AM talk radio. ...
Pros: Priced right, reliable, small, looks pretty slick, and is easy to install. Cons: No record, awful remote, setup for presets makes driving and surfing stations very complicated.
*Note: My original review was entitled "Nice, but not mind-blowing, sort of like the radio service" which appears first below, but I've added 2 important updates at the bottom from 8-30-06 and 10-14-06. Original Review / First Impressions: My ...
Pros: Easy installation, feature packed and functional Cons: Small display and buttons, limited mounting options out of the box
When I was young(er) I lived on the bleeding edge of technology. As a member of Generation X my short attention span demands constant entertainment. You would think I would have stumbled onto XM Radio years ago, but no. Although I have followed the ...
Pros: Great looking, lots of features, great fm modulator Cons: buttons are small, presets are kinda complicated at first
Simple, easy, and very streamlined in appearance. All of these things attributed to my decision to get the Roady XT for XM radio. I've wanted XM for years, but just now we're able to justify spending money for radio in my car. We live in an area ...
Pros: Thin size, easy installation, great sound, doesn't get too hot. Great FM sound and range. Cons: Not compatible with many other Roady accessories. Needed ground loop adaptor in my car.
The Roady XT is Delphi's latest incarnation of the popular Roady series. Basically, this is a "Plug and Play" unit, which means it can be used in mutliple locations, provided the locations have a docking station. Purchasing Rationale: My ...
Pros: improved range, frequency choices, sleek style, auto scroll Cons: Different cradle hardware, cheap accessories
About a month ago, I decided to upgrade my current Roady2 to the new and improved Roady XT. The main reasons why I wanted to do this is because of several reasons: The improved modulation range, The easier to use buttons, and other nice features such as ...
Pros: Scrolling display; Full range of frequencies for the FM modulator. Cons: Clarity of display
The Roady XT has made some major improvements over the Roady2. First and foremost, artist names and song titles will now scroll if they are longer than 16 characters. Each will scroll twice at the beginning of a song. If you need the complete name/title ...
Pros: Size, price, works virtually anywhere you drive Cons: Mount, questionable reliability
Recently, a friend of mine introduced me to the world of XM Radio. I thought that it was very cool that you could listen to a wide variety of music without having to listen to ads for such things as cars and bars. With that in mind, I went over to Best ...
Pros: Small, sleek, easy to install, easy to transport, great reception. Cons: Only lost signal through mountains and under large overpasses.
We live in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. We purchased this radio for our trip to New Jersey. This little thing was great. We didn't have to do the annoying searching for stations when they went out. We also didn't have to switch in the middle of a song ...
Pros: It's size, choice of background colors, sound quality, the ticker. Cons: Didn't come with a remote control.
I just signed up for XM Satellite Radio service. From what I heard from my friend whom have it, the radios are great and the programming is awesome. They also have great $200-$300 units. I didn't expect much to come out of a radio I paid $22 for, but boy ...
Pros: The radio looks impressive on the outside, Cons: Many- poor signal, buttons too small, more.
I followed the recommended installation procedures and paid the extra bucks to have this receiver hardwired into my car stereo- expecting great things. This installation was done by Circuit City Professionals. They assured me- as did the articles on ...
Pros: Transmit range, feature packed, small Cons: durability is questionable, awkward vehicle mounts
The number one thing I have to say is how impressive the FM Transmitting range is. I keep the unit next to my stereo receiver in my apartment. When I went to bed (100' away), I tuned my clock radio to the RoadyXT and it came in with a small amount of static (but its a clock radio). The next day I left the Roady in the apartment when I left. I got in my car outside and got mad. I could hear music and I thought that I had chosen a frequency that was in use, but I left it on cause I liked the song. Once I pulled out of my lot, I lost the signal. Turns out, the Roady XT broadcasts REALLY far.
Other than that, I love the features. Its not very durable and I think it will take a beating with the constant back and forth from home to car.
The home kit antenna struggles a bit when it gets cloudy.
Pros: SIZE AND PRICE Cons: DOESN'T SOUND AS CLEAR AS THE NORMAL RADIO.
JUST RECENTLY MY BROTHER INTRODUCED ME TO THE WORLD OF SATELLITE RADIO. AT FIRST, I WASN'T TO SURE ABOUT IT. BUT, ONCE I HOOKED IT UP I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ANY HAPPIER.
WHAT I LIKE MOST ABOUT THIS PRODUCT IS THAT I CAN USE IT IN MY CAR, HOME, OFFICE ETC... IT IS ALSO VERY EASY TO USE - ASSUMING YOU HAVE IT HOOKED UP IN YOUR HOUSE, CAR ETC. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TAKE IT FROM ONE CRADLE TO THE NEXT AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY. BUT, IT IS REALLY NICE NOT HAVING TO LISTEN TO COMMERCIALS. I WOULD RECOMMEND XM AND THIS THE ROADY XT TO ANYONE.
MY FIRST ROADY XT HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE ANTENNA. I EXCHANGED IT AND SINCE THEN HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS.
WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT IS THAT IT IS A LITTLE HARD TO SEE THE SCREEN IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. YOU CAN CHANGE THE COLORS OF THE SCREEN BUT IT REALLY DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THE OTHER ISSUE I HAVE WITH IT IS THAT THE SOUND QUALITY ISN'T THE SAME AS A NORMAL RADIO.
Pros: Compact, Ease of use ... many features to enhance use... easy programming ... 30 presets Cons: What cons?
When I decided to buy my wife an XM Radio for her 2006 Lincoln LS ... I had no idea of what to buy ... I went to the local Sound Depot and was recommended this system. For about $100.00 including installation I found a radio that truly satisfies my wife. When my wife left the Los Angeles area to come to Yuma ... there was little here that she could connect with that satisfied her Big City taste. Now with the Delphi XM radio ... She can get all of the Christian programing ...light jazz ... news ... and road conditions from LA all here in Yuma. We are well pleased with the Delphi XM Radio so much that I even bought one for my car.
Good radio-bad service by amyismynamey ,May 23 '06
Pros: nothing...just a so-so unit Cons: mounting, display clarity, ease of use
This radio is just average as far as radios go. It provides a service, but nothing spectacular. The stations themselves are great, but the display and ease of use are just so-so. The mounting is downright awful and an option to mount from the back should be available so that it can be mounted in a "laying down" position. Whatever you do, DO NOT purchase directly from XM Radio. Their service is horrible. In fact, I would say non-existent. Our unit arrived in non-working condition and we are having to send it back. They will provide us with a label to return it but said it could take 2-3 weeks just for us to receive it and they can't send us a new one until they receive the old one back. This item was put on my credit card so the interest is accruing. I e-mailed them and was told that their shopping is done by "ShopXM" and that I'd have to contact them, instead of routing my e-mail to the proper person and making every effort to resolve my problem. I've never been so outraged in all my life!
