A serious noise machine
by theotherdave ,Apr 26 '09
Pros: It was cheap Cons: Wear ear plugs, or use it in the garage
We picked up one of these machines at a kitchen outlet store. The biggest impression it made on us was how incredibly noisy it is. There are other issues as well:
The instruction manual has been inexpertly translated to English, with resulting errors in recipes and unclear guidance on how long to operate the unit, mix preparation, etc. Not brain surgery to figure out, but still....
You must freeze the mixing bowl overnight prior to making a batch of product.
Ice cream, when complete, is softer than the softest commercial soft-serve, meaning that you must remove the product from the mixing bowl into another container then freeze the product overnight. Only then did we get an appropriately firm ice cream.
I don't know- we may return this thing and try another brand.

Poor Workmanship
by jmadison44 ,Jan 03 '08
Pros: It's cheap. Cons: It just doesn't do the job. You get what you pay for!
I got this for $50 off of cooking.com and was sorely disappointed. You can only make ice cream with the consistency of "custard" (quote taken right from the manual) because the motor was too weak. Furthermore, the plastic stir paddle was too loose and frequently jammed, causing the weak motor to stop.
