Pros: Versatile, powerful, easy to handle and control Cons: Blades wear rapidly, battery pack can be limiting
Last year, our county furnished all the career and volunteer rescue companies with a DeWalt DW938 reciprocating saw, or as some know it, a “sawsall”. Granted, most people will not use this tool in the ways we do at the fire department, but it...
Pros: Great power and agility. Cons: Could use two speed as sometimes is too aggressive.
I recently began installing gas and wood fireplaces in new home construction and needed to have power tools on the job site where no power existed. I looked at all the models available and settled on the Dewalt 18 volt reciprocating saw and...
Pros: Strong and durable. Will get the job done. Cons: 12 volt charger could be better and the batteries could cost less.
I am a power lineman by trade and this tool is tough and versatile enough to pass my test. When working overhead around 12,500 volts you don't need any cords hanging around. Nor do you want to use a hacksaw when you are trying to get the lights ...
Pros: With the right blade and skill it will cut anything. Cons: You could get carried away and cut the house down.
Although this Dewalt does not have as much power or rpm's as a top of the line corded saw, there is not doubt in my mind that anyone should buy anything different. From cutting Christmas trees to cutting 2" thick solid steel rods you cannot beat the...
Pros: Convenient, safe, lightweight. Cons: Batteries are expensive
I purchased 1 of these 18v Reciprocating Saw for my company to use in place of chainsaws on construction sites without electric power. We had had been using corded saws and I kept looking for a cordless type for a long time. After one week of using this...
Pros: Less Vibration, Longer lasting batteries, More power, Good blade stroke length Cons: Heavy, noisy
Having had extensive experience with both Dewalt and Makita brand cordless saws I remain very impressed with the Dewalt above all others. It has not worn out as the Makita did and continues to function at full power when needed. The blade stroke is...
Pros: Powerful, extremely versatile, fast and ergonomically built. Cons: Batteries don't last forever.
This saw is "tough as nails." I purchased this saw when I began building a Jeep and needed a saw that could be used in many situations for many different materials. This has cut 1/4" thick metal brackets and cut off sheet metal right off the Jeep. No...
The old adage you get what you pay for is certainly true of dewalt tools. They are one of the most expensive tools to buy but also one of the most long lasting. I have been a dewalt fan for years and the Dewalt 18 V Reciprocating Saw is no different. All...
Pros: PROS: EASE OF USE,LOW MAINTENANCE,POWER OF TOOL,AND MORE... Cons: CONS:GOING TO HARDWARE STORE IN MIDDLE OF JOB FOR BLADES.
I must say that the Dewalt-18 v reciprocating saw is one of the best tools that I ever bought for my spouse. For years he hinted for me to buy him one. When Christmas would be near I would ask,"honey" what would you like for Christmas? His...
Pros: Does anything an electric will do without the cord Cons: Price
I bought this tool in the four piece set containing a drill, flashlight, circular saw, and Reciprocating saw. I tell you this thing is the real deal. This saw has so many uses. It's great for for any type of construction. The battery will last much...
In the first 5-6 years I own this saw, not much to complain about other than lousy batteries (new XBR batteries are much better but $$$). Then I cut some galvanized sewer pipes (from my kitchen remodeling) recently, and did not clean it immediately. Within 2 weeks the saw siezed up, and the saw blade was stuck in the chuck. I can't see the inside (of the saw), but I am sure it corroded pretty bad in there. Very disappointed because a replacement saw is $ 199. Will probably go back to a Milwaukee (if they make a cordless).
