I am a stone and antler carver who has been using Dremel tools for more than 10 years now. This past Christmas, I was looking for a new Dremel tool. This was not to replace my other Dremel tools (they're still working hard), but rather to have an ...
Pros: Power, Battery, Design Cons: Attachments, extra battery, Attachments
I purchased the 10.8 volt Dremel cordless about a month or 2 ago and have used it for a variety of small jobs; most time with satisfactory results. The tool: The Dremel 10.8 volt cordless uses a rechargeable Lithium-ion (li-ion) battery which supplies ...
Pros: Good for small quick jobs Cons: Many bits and accessories do not last or break quickly
I bought the Dremel 10.8v rotary cordless drill for the purpose of removing tile grout. At first it worked well. But, the battery only lasted 45 minutes. Then the problems started. The 1/16 inch grout bits only lasted a few minutes then broke. I went ...
Pros: Long battery life for the way I use it. Cons: None yet, I'll edit if I find any.
I purchased the cordless rotary tool on a whim. I was ordering some items for my husband on-line and looked for something for myself. I make dollhouse miniature items. I immediately unpacked it and put it on my worktable, used it on from time to time ...
Dremel 10.8V Cordless Rotary Tool by toolman3451 ,Sep 18 '09
Pros: Concept was good. Cons: Not a serious tool. Very poor quality. Not rugged at all.
This thing is a toy and not made for real work. The motor overheated while grinding off a small 1/4 bolt. Sent in for warranty repair. First day back, unit again broke while doing light sanding. Speed control shorted out, motor went into super high RPM, and motor caught fire! I didn't want to waste my time sending it in again, so I just threw it into the garbage. I am very disappointed. A total piece of junk.
a disappointing purchase from a company that once made great products by elflojon ,Dec 04 '04
Pros: The machine is inexpensive and portable and might
be fine for someone with low expectations. Cons: a disappointing purchase.
I purchased this tool, hoping that I could use it for
professional applications routing small grooves in
wood.
I first discovered that the battery could go in both ways;
I was stunned. If you put the battery in backward the
battery will overheat or self-destruct. The manufacturer
only needed to put some sort of plastic stop in place
that made that impossible to do.
Next I noticed that it was very easy to start; in other words the switch wouldn't stay in the off position. the
detente to hold the switch on off was too weak. Now,
because of that, to safely change bits you must remove
the battery each time.
The machine has no mass to operate against the motion of the cutter; in other words it needs to be held
firmly with the hand to control the cutting which is tiring.
Lastly; the chuck has excessive play and and would not
give me the precision I needed.
