Pros: Looks, controls, large slot opening Cons: Browns unevenly, but still produces a piece of toast
I read the previous epinion and that combined with other information, I purchased the dulalit 2-slot toaster. The controls are simple, so operation is easy. The slots are enormous, accommodating the biggest breads, etc. that I'd ever use, Darkness is ...

Finally a toaster that works!
by itsletty ,Sep 30 '04
Pros: Looks are simple but attractive
Browns nicely even whole grain breads.
Large deep slots.
Cons: None
I have spent the last month going through toasters until I found one that was under $100. and browned my toast. After 5 toaster trials I finally ordered one on line. I was hesitant to do this because the return process is a little tougher. I decided to order on line after reading all the reviews on the regular Dualit toaster. I figured if they could make a $300. toaster that worked fantastic and was of commercial grade perhaps they could make a household grade toaster that worked. Well this toaster is simple. Only one knob for degree of browning and a button for bagels. Unlike the regular Dualit there is no need to preheat. It's simple just put the toast in lower the leaver and in a few minutes you have toast. It's all I asked for and this toaster delivers. I can even burn the toast if I want extra crispy without having to put the toast through twice. Just when I was about to give up. At Last!

Don't Buy One
by doomdad ,Jan 18 '06
Pros: Looks nice Cons: Unsafe
I've owned this appliance for less than a year. The other day when I depressed the switch to begin toasting, a large spark jumped out at me resulting in the demise of this unsafe piece of junk. Unfortunately, I no longer have the paperwork associated with the purchase, so I'm stuck.
Advice: stick with the mainstream brands. They're cheaper, and more reliable. A toaster, is a toaster, is a toaster.....

Dualit - Dual **it
by zappyboy ,Jun 03 '06
Pros: Looks, if you're into diner chic Cons: FLAKEY ELECTRONICS!!!!
Noise level
uneven toasting
My wife and I bought TWO Dualit toasters (one for my office) because they looked cool and were, we thought, supposed to be well made. Terrible mistake! Junk! The first toaster's electronics went nutty - it rarely stayed on - it would work for a few seconds and then quit. Even when we set it to the darkest setting it never toasted well - got the bread warm but it wasn't toast. So we sent it back. Faulty electronics. Under warranty. Cool. Then we got a new one which worked up until the warranty ran out and now this one doesn't work at all! Just never goes on!
WHich brings me to toaster #2: Good news? It works. Bad news, it is SO LOUD as it toasts that the only way you know your toast is done is when silence returns to the room. And then your toast still isn't evenly brown. Cold spots abound. Uneven. Dark at the top, light at the bottom.
I should have know that the Brits can't build anything electrical to save their lives. Can you say, "Pre-Ford Jaguar?" Avoid like the plague. Buy something cheaper.
