This vacuum SUCKS!
by akunzel ,Mar 04 '04
Pros: Animal attachment, ease of use
Cons: Hose attachment is a bit too "springy"
The suction on this model is amazing! There were two tests once we got this baby home: stairs and hallway.

The stairs were a breeze! I couldn't believe how easy it was to use, and how clean the stairs were.

Second test: hallway. We used our old vacuum, then went over the same area. WOW. All the stuff left by the old vacuum was amazing - and on the surface, it looked like it was doing a decent job!

We have a golden retriever, and 3 cats. It does a GREAT job picking up pet hair.

The ease of emptying the canister is fantastic. Also, there is no dusty exhaust smell from this vacuum. We're completely satisfied, and wish we'd gotten it sooner!

Does what it says it will do.
by tf51558 ,Oct 12 '03
Pros: suction is great, quiet and easy to use.
Cons: none so far
I was vacuuming the other day with my old Eureka (the boss)and it wasn't doing the job. I have a long hair Mane Coon (cat) and the hair was everywhere. I said that's it, I'm buying a new vacuum. So I got on line and started looking at the reviews on all sorts of vacuums and I found the Epinions website.

I have to tell you the reviews on Epinions is what made up my mind. So I went and bought the Dyson DCO7 Animal Vacuum.
I told the salesman if this doesn't do the job I'm bringing it back. I have this area rug which is black and you can see all the cat hair. That's the first thing I vacuumed and I was amazed. It not only picked up all the hair it also had picked up all the dirt I didn't know was still there. So I started cleaning the whole house, even the cobwebs. This vacuum does what it says it will do. Its easy to use and it is quiet.

Best Vacuum for Dog Hair
by andyrose26 ,Jan 29 '04
Pros: Amazing at picking up pet hair
Cons: Pricey, but you get what you pay for
After reading the reviews, I went and purchased a Dyson DC07 at Best Buy, also for $19 got a 5 year warranty, and since they don't fixed vacuum cleaners, you just return for a new one. (what a deal for $5, but then the price was $499)
I love this vacuum cleaner, we have two large golden retrievers, and I could not believe the amount of hair that was picked up, even after vacuuming first with my other cleaner.
Although it takes a minute to figure out how to put the machine together, once you do its so easy to start and then empty the canister.
If you have pets, this is the best vacuum ever, even if you don't have pets, its amazing.

Excellent Product
by dkingsr ,Oct 27 '03
Pros: Long cord is a plus for homes with only 1 floor.
Cons: Really can't find anything negative with the machine.
After reading many, many comments about the DC07 both Yellow and Purple(Animal), my wife and I purchased the Animal Model. After assembly I ran our old Fanthom Vac over the carpet. Then the Dyson DC07. WOW. It sucked more cat hair out of the carpet. This to me was the Acid Test. We have 2 cats - 1 Calico(short hair) and one Rag Doll (LONG Hair) and this machine did exactly as advertised.
Who cares about the color it's the performance that matters.
The ease of movement from different carpet heights to bare floor and back to carpet again is outstanding. The ease of emptying the canister is really a blessing. You don't have to bend over to remove the bin, like the Fanthom, you don't have to worry about finding new HEPA Filters, like the Fanthom. You don't have to worry about the machine tipping over when you use the Wand, like the Fanthom. Get the Idea?
It's just a fantastic machine that should last many many years.

THE BEST VACUUM EVER ! ! !
by bigred72 ,Aug 07 '04
Pros: STRONG suction, easy emptying, no belts, easy cleaning.
Cons: The price, although trust me, it will pay for itself !!!!
I have 4 cats and have gone through 2 Hoover wind tunnel vacuums. They just couldn't work after awhile. In a plea of desperation, I researched the Dyson Animal vacuum. I ordered it and was so amazed at how much it picked up. After just vacuuming my bedroom, the canister had to be emptied. Every speck of dust, cat hair, and everything else was picked up. I have to vacuum frequently and I am still amazed at how much pet hair it picks up. It is so easy to use, and easy to clean. There are no belts to replace. The suction keeps working no matter how often you use it, and that is what sold me. Finally, a vacuum that does what it promises! The best 450 bucks I ever spent!!! Buy this vacuum, especially if you are a cat or dog owner !

Durable & Dependable
by tl6868 ,Dec 15 '06
Pros: Cleans very well
Cons: none
I purchased this three years ago and I still love it. Not having to worry about if you have any bags left in the closet, or an extra belt somewhere, is a nice thing. No bags, no belts. And on the rare occasion you have a clog it's easy to find and clear it. i like the on-board attachments and the telescoping handle. Absolutely the only problem I have had is the small attachment came apart so I'll need to replace it. Otherwise I love it. In hindsight, however, I would probably opt for the model that sits down lower for getting under furniture. But the suction is great, as evidenced by the amount of dirt you see in your canister every time you use it. It really is worth the money.

Awesome
by luvsviola ,Jun 23 '04
Pros: Powerful, many tools, looks cool
Cons: Wand goes inside hose and takes a few seconds to carefully get it out
This vacuum is great. I had just vacuumed my den (before the old vacuum caught on fire) and then filled up the dirt cup on just the den alone when I got this one. It is so powerful, you have to be careful of the blind cords...it will eat them if you are not careful doing the windowsills. The dirt cup is so easy to empty and replace. I love the beater brush for the stairs. My only complaint is that the wand fits in the tube to vacuum, so getting it out to do around the edges is a bit of a pain. You have to plan ahead a little to make it not take forever. But, it is a small bit for such a nice vacuum.

And when it stops working ...
by seventy2002 ,Jan 29 '04
Pros: Enormous suction, no-bag design, easy to use.
Cons: I really don't like purple.
We bought our Dyson after reading the reviews on Epinions. We're getting the same great results. But sooner or later, every vacuum will suck up something just a little too big and choke. With the other vacuums we've owned this usually meant a long session disassembling and poking about with a long piece of wire. The Dyson can be disassembled without tools, unclogged, and put back to work in a few seconds. The pieces come out easily and only go back in the right way. It's a design masterpiece.

Dyson's hype is really the truth!
by dexters7 ,Dec 14 '06
Pros: Cleans great, convienient, attractive, and makes vacuuming much more enjoyable
Cons: Pricey, yes, but I think it is worth it
My husband and I were going shopping prior to our anniversary, and I talked him into footing the bill for the Dyson Animal vacuum at Best Buy. When we got home, I was really excited to try it. Even though I had just vacuumed with my old Dirt Devil, the machine managed to pick up two canisters of stuff in our tiny apartment. Plus, the carpet here is so old and flat, I was impressed to see that it sucked hard enough to make vacuum lines in the carpet. So, cleaning-wise this thing is great. Also, the attachment wand to SO convienient to use. I have never used one even close to as much as I have since I've gotten this machine. I love it! Another benefit is the construction. Everything is really easy to take apart and put back together when you need to clean it out. And, cleaning the filter is a cinch. I really love this machine. Not to mention that it looks pretty cool, too =)

Nearly Perfection
by earth1 ,Mar 28 '04
Pros: Finally, a product that lives up to its hype.
Cons: None so far. Sure, it costs--but it's worth it.
With all its power, you expect it to sound like a bulldozer, but it's quiet. Quieter than my previous Panasonic.

With its pull and cleaning ability, you expect it to weight 50 pounds, but it's light.

With its cost, you expect it to be as effective and versatile as a Kirby--but it's much better.

I love it. It does the job like no other. You pay more up front for this machine, but you end up saving money over the years. And, most importantly, you get a clean house during all those years...instead of a "cleaner" house. This thing really sucks--and I mean that in a good way!

Try it; then I dare you to return it for a refund, honey.

Would't you know a man invented this!
by cleanqueen1975 ,Dec 16 '06
Pros: suction great
Cons: heavy; carrying handle worthless; attachments won't stay on
After being in the cleaning business for years and years, I have used practically every vacuum made. Wouldn't you know an engineer invented this because it's not very practical and I swear without a manual it takes a rocket scientist to figure out how to use the attachments and to empty the canister. Yes, it picks up dirt and animal hair really well! Push this, take this off, switch this around and hope the attachment stays on the wand. Being in the cleaning business, saving time is very important to me. I need something that I can change to doing steps in a second and is quick to empty the canister and is lightweight to carry up and down steps. The carrying handle is not in the right place; therefore, it's worthless! I take with me my cheap, trusty ole Bissell upright vacuum. It may not suck quite as well but it's lightweight and I can zap an attachment on it in a flash!

The Best Vacum for Pet Owners Period.
by robhaya ,Dec 31 '03
Pros: Excellent design, power, and pet hair removal
Cons: None
I just purchased the Animal, after five years of owning an Oreck. My wife and I have a Lab/Shepherd who sheds alot during the winter. Keeping the house clean can be struggle using the Oreck upright and canister vac.
After seeing the commercial for the Dyson and reading countless reviews, we bought the Dyson Animal.

The design and functionality blow away the Oreck and our shop vac. I have never been able to clean our furniture with such ease as I was able with the turbo tool. The amount of suction is amazing, I couldn't believe the amount of dust and dander we had in our carpet, let alone the dog hair. Nothing can stand in the way of the Dyson..If you own any pets, get the Dyson you won't regret it one bit and its worth every dime.

Caution! not for use with long haired pets
by dysonscam ,Feb 24 '04
Pros: it looks pretty
Cons: when vacuuming pet hair much of it becomes entangled in the brush and compromises performance
Are you hoping to vacuum up the dust bunnies or even the furniture which is a magnet for pet hair? Well, this might NOT be the vacuum you seek if your pet has long hair. For us, the Dyson animal’s suction only got the hair as far as the brush not the easy to remove and empty canister. So instead of just cleaning the canister every time it fills it became apparent the brush also needed to be cleaned as often. Something I learned not from the marketing or literature in the box but rather after contacting Dyson directly. When I shared my frustration with not being warned that hair will be caught they graciously thanked be for my feedback. And when I asked how I return the unsatisfactory vacuum; Dyson said “We stand behind out product 150%...” but “you would have to contact the retailer and refer to their return/refund policy.” Is that how one stands behind it? We'll listen to your concerns but will not act satisfy a customer. If you enjoy poor customer service and spending hours disentangling well wrapped hair from a vacuum brush, this might just be the vacuum you need.

Amazing
by njgeary ,Nov 29 '03
Pros: Power, suction, length of electrical cord, length of hose, and easy to use attachments.
Cons: Two attachments don't have a place on the vacuum; I'm afraid they'll always be lost.
I hate vacuuming but, this vacuum makes vacuuming fun. (I know, hard to imagine.) My husband and I were actually fighting over it. It's amazing just how much nasty stuff it sucked up in an area where I had just vacuumed with my Windtunnel. It moves across the carpet so smoothly and easily that it was hard to believe that it was sucking so much stuff up. It's so much quieter than our previous vacuum, a 6 year old Windtunnel. It sucked up the dog hair off the sides of the couch with one easy pass through. (We have a white german sheppard/yellow lab mix.) The electrical cord is so long that I could vacuum the downstairs without having to stop and unplug. It was also great being able to do the stairs without having to lug the vacuum up with me just so I could reach the top of the stairs - I love the way the hose stretches. So far, I think the Dyson Animal is worth the money. I hope I'm just as happy in 5 years.

Thank you Dyson, This Vacuum Is Impressive
by torpedoccnv ,Apr 09 '04
Pros: powerful, easy to assemble, tons of accessories, purple is amusing
Cons: expensive even after coupons or sales
I have a dog that sheds a ton and my vacuum was just not cutting it. This monster sucked up the dog hair like it was nothing. I got to the "max" line on the cannister from just one room in my house. It picked up stuff that I could not have even imagined was there. It was simple to assemble, it's easy to use the attachments, the cord is plenty long enough, it's not too loud, it's easy to remove and empty the cannister. I can't say enough good things about this vacuum. Use the 20% coupon that Bed Bath and Beyond always mails you and save yourself $100.
