Pros: Great suction power, long cord and various vacuum parts for all areas.
Cons: Expensive, but definitely worth it. Save for it - you'll be glad you did!

My husband I have two labrador retrievers and pet hair gets everywhere! Our old vacuum would only collect some of the hair. Our house did not seem clean enough for us until we bought a Dyson. We needed a vacuum cleaner with tremendous suction power and the Dyson proved to have that and more! Well worth the money!

Pros: Excellent performance I've never experienced in another vacuum, overall great construction quality, usable add-on attachments.
Cons: Cheaply made tab that retains the electrical cord.

Purchased this unit reluctantly a couple of months ago. I reviewed vacuums in the same price/function range for over a week before taking the plunge on this unit. Overall impression - it's an excellent vacuum, even for the steep price tag and I'm nowhere near disappointed.

When my wife first turned it on after assembly, it sounded like a small turbine in operation. Slightly high volume level, but no more than the cheapo vacuum we previously used. Assembly was a snap, but the attachment of add-ons had to be referenced in the owner's manual for proper connection.

Construction of the unit if fairly sturdy. The only "cheap" or "weak" part I've noticed was the rotating tab that keeps the electrical cord wound around the back. It's very thin and I don't believe it will last very long if handled roughly.

The operation is faultless - living with my wife and two daughters who all have long hair along with one large German Shephard dog that sheds hair on every move, this unit is a champ and does an excellent job in keeping our 2,000 sq ft home free of hair.

Pros: Makes housework so much easier. It's almost a joy to vacuum the whole house now.
Cons: I can safely say I have yet to encounter a con for this section.

This is by FAR the best vacuum I have ever owned. I've gone through several brands including rainbow and Electrolux and they don't measure up. I always tell people my vacuum can suck the drapes off at 20 paces. It wouldn't shock me if that was true!

Well the Dyson DC07 Animal certainly has great suction but that's about it.

It works great when it comes to getting cat hair out of carpets but it has to be one of the most awkward vacuum cleaners that I have ever used.

It's probably OK if you have vast expanses of carpet to vacuum, but if you have a smaller house and constantly need to reconfigure it to use different attachments then it is a nightmare.

The handle of the vacuum detaches from the body and becomes a cleaning wand but the overall result is very unsatisfactory - among other things the body of the vacuum becomes unstable and tends to tip over if you pull it by the hose attached to the cleaning wand.

To add insult to injury it doesn't even have a retractable power cord.

Pros: Easy cleaning; Doesn't clog; long cord; great hose suction
Cons: Doesn't fit well under furniture;loud; Hard to clean beater brush

I own a business that sees a lot of foot traffic daily. I originally bought the Dyson 007 for the business. It is the BEST purchase I have ever made as far as vacuums are concerned. Over the course of 12 years, I have gone through at least 6 vacuums. They just couldn't handle the volume of use that I needed. I bought the Dyson two years ago and it is still running great!
I now use the DC-07 at home and can't be happier! We have three dogs would shed a lot and it picks up the hair and has NEVER gotten clogged! Other vacuums I had used previously were always getting clogged with dog fur.
The only thing I don't like about it is that it is difficult to remove hair from the beater brush. While it is easy to remove the plate that holds the beater brush in, the brush is not easily removed due to the belt.

Pros: Extremely good suction.
Cons: When vacuuming tile floors, the exhaust can blow the dirt around.

With seven animals (3 dogs, 4 cats), we needed a good vacuum. I had been using an Oreck, saw the ad for the Dyson, and started my research. THANK YOU to the people who gave honest opinions on this site...you helped me finalize my decision.
We've had our "animal" for about 6 months, and I couldn't be more pleased. Is it perfect? No...because it can't turn itself on to clean the house when I'm gone!
But it lives up to its claims, and our carpets are cleaner than they ever were before. I'm a believer, and so is my normally-even-more-skeptical husband! I have recommended Dyson to many, many friends and will continue to do so.

Cons: Beware if your machine breaks down!!!

Dyson animal - nice machine but Dyson need to sort out their customer service. Machine broke within warranty and have spent a fortune on telephone calls because no-one rings you back. They also ask you for times when the engineers shouldn't call and that's when they turn up! Complete and utter waste of time and apparently it's company policy not to give out senior managers names when you want to complain.

Well.....I've had Hoovers for years.....but my carpet just didn't seem to be getting clean and with the new longer length carpet....it was very difficult to "push" across the carpet. I have a dog and she sheds quite a bit so I decided to spend a little more and see if it made much of a difference. OMG....I had the change that canister 6-7 times! It was pulling up SO much dog hair and dirt that the Hoover must have been leaving behind.

Pros: easy to use,powerful suction
Cons: over priced, poor quality

I bought this yellow machine 3 years ago, when my old sharp vac refused to pick dog hair. I fell in love with this vac at very first time I used. It picks every dirt, I never felt the room can be that clean. However, last year, only 2-year-old vac started to show wear tear. First, the yellow sliding cap (attach the hose when it opens) cannot be completed close, which would cause loose suction. 2 months ago, the hose broke. fortunate, when I bought this vac at best buy, I also bought 5 year extended warranty. I send vac back to best buy, they replaced the hose, but didn't fix the cap. The vac is still in service, this is 3rd time send back to service center, I don't know when I can get it back. I love the vac, but very disappointed with the quality.

Pros: The ridiculous price? Look it up in Consumers Reports.
Cons: The ridiculous price. No suction, air leaks from multiple sources. constant cleaning of filters.

I put my Dyson in the closet and replaced it with a $69 Eureka.It simply does not pick up, and when I contacted Dyson several times, they told me there was nothing they could do and sent a simple form letter. I brought it into Sears to have it looked at, but still no better. I've written it off as a bad purchase decision.

Pros: Suction, maneuverability, sturdy design.
Cons: A little heavy, not many accessories included, price (but not as bad as some).

We received our Dyson and I have to say, it was the first time I was excited to use the vacuum cleaner. My wife had just vacuumed a day before and by the time we had gone over half the house it is embarrassing to say that we had a full Dyson! One reason is our dog, a chocolate lab mix, there was nary a hair left after using the Dyson. This is by far the best vacuum I have ever used and we have gone through our fair share. Shop around, we found ours reconditioned for a song on-line, go eBay! But still, if you have the money it is well spent on this beauty! One last thing to add, no offensive or annoying odors to speak of, the HEPA filters really do their job well.

Pros: Long hose, no bags or filters to replace.
Cons: Did not pick up pet hair well, expensive, attachments are inconvenient to use.

We purchased the Dyson DC07 Animal vacuum because we have a large Labrador mix who sheds a ton. Although the Dyson DC07 picked up a lot of dirt and dust, there was still a large amount of dog hair left on the carpet which the vacuum should have picked up. The accessories were also a disappointment: they could not be stored on the vacuum, the rotating hand tool only fit properly on the long wand, and the wand was a pain to use. I was so disappointed in the Dyson DC07 Animal vacuum that I returned it to the store where I had purchased it.

Pros: Very well engineered. Everything fits snugly and intelligently and feels solid.
Cons: Perhaps pricey, but in my mind well worth it.

The first time I ran this vac on my carpet my wife almost cried. She'd just had our second child, the week prior to the Dyson purchase in fact, and her hormones have made her into a clean freak. 2 weeks prior to that we had the carpets steam cleaned professionally. Within 10 square feet of vacuuming, (that's about 2 5 foot long sweeps, very little) the Dyson's bin was swirling with disgusting hair and dander. I am overjoyed with how well this machine works. I never would have even guessed there was that much nastiness in our carpeting, and we vacuum every day. I'd say it made our old vac seem silly, and I don't use that word lightly. Thank you Dyson!

We purchased our Dyson DC07 Animal vacuum after doing research on the product and liking what we read. Our old vacuum just didn't suck like it should. Some things need to suck to be good, vacuums are one of them. This vacuum is awesome, because it picks up very well, the dirt canister is a snap to empty, and I can vacuum my stairs with relative ease. It's pretty quiet and the wand is pretty easy to use. We originally wanted the ball, but ended up with the Animal, and I have found the vacuum to be very easy to maneuver even without the ball. It's no heavier than any other vacuum I have owned. I feel that this vacuum will last us a long, long time, and I recommend it to anyone. You get what you pay for!

We have spent tons of money buying anywhere from a $80 Shark to a $300 Hoover Windtunnel and have had the same results; after a year it's ready for the junk pile. After using the Animal for nearly 18 months, its still performing well. It scares me to think about how dirty my house must have been before.
