I love my dyson!
by fujiface ,Mar 19 '06
Pros: Great suction, bagless, so easy to clean out, no extra money to buy bags. Cons: The vacuum hose is a pain to handle.
Not much else.
Unfortunately, I thought black carpet would be awesome, and I could be that one oddball with black carpet. I obviously wasn't thinking clearly, I have 3 black and white cats, 1 black cat and 1 orange cat. All shed, all love to be in my room, all love to rub on the black carpet. My old vacuum could not get the hair out of the carpet. 500 dollars later, I had my dyson! WOW! Flippin' sweet!
I would recommend this vacuum to anyone!

Good Vacuum - Great for cat hair
by mrpickles33 ,Apr 20 '05
Pros: Great suction, good for pet hair Cons: More than a Hoover, but you get what you pay for.
We bought the Dyson to help rid our house of cat hair and it certainly did the trick. The vacuum it replaced was a older Hoover that could not clean very well, was heavy and kept breaking. Although we thought paying over $300 for a plastic vacuum was a little crazy, we were sold on the suction. The Dyson is able to clean the cat hair off of all of our furniture and the hose is great for stairs and crevices. I would definitely recommend it if you have any pets or like a really clean house. Overall - A great vacuum for a reasonable price. Gotta love those Dyson commercials too!

Worked fine for awhile
by express3275 ,Mar 06 '07
Pros: Don't have to replace bags. Long cord. Cons: Overpriced, not good on Berber, cheap components.
I bought this vacuum 2 years ago and immediately had concerns about it. I wish that I would have returned it for something else. This vacuum is NOT good on area rugs! It will need to be modified by removing little rubber gaskets so that it can even be used. Even then, it sucks up the carpet and makes a HORRIBLE noise. CS had no options as to how to stop this. Now the wand hose has broken and had to be duct taped back together (not good for a vacuum that cost over $500).Also, the suction on Berber is not as good as my Hoover.

Do not buy this vacuum
by hb035 ,May 10 '05
Pros: Worked great at first. Cons: Overpriced, repairs are nightmare even om warranty
My vacuum's motor burned up in a year. Parts have to be ordered , parts take forever to arrive at repair shop. And I went to a shop that Dyson's customer services referred me to for warranty repair. Repairman stated that warranties are going to eventually end and he's going to get rich on Dyson vacuums. Repairman considers Dysons to be the worst vacuum on the market.
I went back to Sears, where I purchased the vacuum on credit, they gave me a " song and dance" about how wonderful the Dysons are,and made me even angrier.
So my friends ,do not buy any overpriced ,overrated, aggravating,Dyson vacuum. Especially from Sears.

Dyson DC07 is the BEST!
by pbsisson ,Dec 18 '06
Pros: Makes carpet look new again. Ball pivot system easy to make it turn. Cons: Figuring out how it works takes some time but is worth it.
This is the best vacuum cleaner. It is so strong at pulling dirt from the carpet. I was shocked when it was given to me as a gift and I got home to try it out. That morning my carpet had been vacuumed with my Oreck, so I figured no dirt would come up. I was shocked how much the Dyson picked up. IT is AWESOME. I did take about a week to learn how to use all the attachments. I love how I no longer need my smaller vacuum to do the stairs and furniture. I even use the Dyson to vacuum my dog. The dog is a chocolate lab and he loves when I vacuum him. It is like brushing him, so he loves it. The animal vacuum has additional attachments which I really use. Especially the one for the stairs. This vacuum has made my 3 year old carpet look new again. Get one you will love it. Once you learn how to turn it on it is simple to use.

Dyson Animal - The worst vacuum I've ever owned!
by rohdemusic ,Jan 17 '07
Pros: It looks cool. Cons: Plastic parts fall apart. It's cheaply made, and the belt breaks. Overpriced and falsly advertised!
This is the worst (and most expensive) vacuum I've ever owned. The cheap plastic parts frequently fall off, the brush gets easily stuck so it won't spin, and I'm not impressed with the suction. Last week the belt broke after only 2 years of ownership. My friend has a Dyson too, and her belt broke too. She's had the same trouble. One of our cleaning ladies' clients Dyson just broke too. I had to talk my husband into purchasing this vacuum, and I feel terrible about wasting our money on such a piece of junk. I am shocked to see these positive reviews. Perhaps they just purchased the vacuum. Ours was fine for about a month.

A cruise missile against the vacuum competitors
by loomspah ,Feb 06 '08
Pros: Performance, Performance Cons: A bit loud, Endless clunky plastic parts
This vacuum is the best I've ever owned. I see it as like an American muscle car: it won't win any design awards but it's the best at what it's built to do. The vacuum cleans floors and carpet like nothing I've used in the past. In fact, a couple of friends I haven't seen in years visited and they started to try out the vacuum. So there it is. The only major flaw with this vacuum is that it will lead you to some awkward social situations. I'm seriously considering having the thing insured, rubbed with baby oil, and caressed with pure Egyptian cotton gloves.

Not Impressed
by marketingmad ,Feb 12 '05
Pros: Cool look. Nice handle. Attachments fit nice on vacuum. Cons: Suctioning power and ease of hose use could be better.
I bought this and after using it once, I returned it. It's suction power is O.K., but at $400 I expect it to be great. I noticed there were a couple of times where I had to vacuum over an area 4-5 times before it sucked up the debris. My old vacuum did that, and it only cost me $100. So, for $400, I expect it to do better than my old vacuum.
The extension hose may be long, but when the Dyson is on, it's very hard to stretch. And, when I was using it with the attachments, I found I had to hold the hose at a certain angle in order to get suctioning power.

Not impressed
by tinselll ,Dec 30 '05
Pros: light weight long cord Cons: doesn't clean close to the wall, can't get under bed to tall, loses suction easy
doesn't clean 2' from the wall straight on. can't get under bed its to tall. you have to empty it out often or it will not pick up dirt. Didn't pick up crumbs dirt etc very well at all. Not worth the money. The handle has the opening for the extention hose and if it opens you lose suction on the floor vac. It opens with the slightest tough of the hand.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the Dyson?
by katiedid814 ,Feb 20 '07
Pros: Great suction! Cons: Heavy
Loud
Attachments a headache to figure out
My place of employment purchased this vacuum last year and it has been nothing but a hassle for us. I mean, after an initial suction problem, it works great! It vacuums like nobody's business!
However, you have to take apart and rearrange the pieces of the handle just to use the attachments and it's sort of a headache. We've had to get the owner's manual out several times just to figure out how to make it do what we want. Plus, it's heavy and loud. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they really love a challenge and loud and heavy vacuums! I'll take a bagged, canister vacuum (like the Electrolux Harmony) any day over this one!

The best vacuum marketing campaign ever. Mediocre vacuum.
by nat440 ,Jan 13 '06
Pros: -great styling
-brag factor
-status symbol
-people will be impressed with your vacuum Cons: -mediocre cleaning ability
-mid-quality construction
-fills up very quickly
-high price
-expensive parts
I pride myself on being a careful consumer. I made a mistake by believing all the hype about these vacuums. This vacuum does not clean better than the competition, and is not built to last. When the Dysons came out, I was drawn in to the images of the inventor with thousands of prototypes, creating the vacuum of the future. I walked right into the Dyson world, and I was sorry. Just a few specifics:
-cleaning power is nothing special compared to many cheaper machines
-maybe it doesn't lose suction, but you need to empty the thing five times by the time a bagged vac would be full enough to lose any suction.
-A lot of parts and pieces, with mid-quality construction at best
-There are filters and belts that will eventually need replacing despite claims to the contrary

My Dyson Rocks!!!!
by connieatch ,Nov 03 '04
Pros: Easy to put together. Light, amazing suction animal hair watch out. Cons: None that I can think of.
I saw the Dyson Animal at Sharper Image and was very interested. I did alot of research and finally decided it was worth it to buy one. I was so excited when it came that I unpacked it and used it right away. My initially skeptical husband asked me if it was worth the money. After vacuuming a small area of the living room and showing him the huge wad of animal hair it had picked up he was very impressed. And I had vacuumed that same spot very recently. Skeptical no more. I haven't had a chance to use all the attachments yet but I will this weekend. I am actually looking forward to cleaning. The Dyson is very light and I can see the carpet pile standing up when I go over it. I had to put weights on my old vacuum to push the roller brush down so it picked the pile up. What a workout. Needless to say I am in love with this vacuum. Thank you very much Mr. Dyson.
