Dyson DC07 Allergy Blue/Turquoise Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Pros: Really clean easy to use
Cons: brush gets hair wrapped around it but is easy to clean

We bought our first dyson not long after they came out. It was the 07. At the time, they did not make the DC14. We were very impressed with the power. We vacuumed with the old one and then the dyson. We filled the canister 2x in just one small room. Gross! And we had a toddler. The hose being attached is ingenious. We recently upgraded to the DC14 because we have a baby and more animals now. The 14 has twice the amprage. We are very impressed. We also like the mattress attachment for our kids beds. I know everyone says it, but it is worth the money. If you can swing it, it's a great investment. Lasts a long time and gets so much more out of your carpet than the other ones. Bissel has a similar idea but it is awkward and makes a mess emptying the canister.

FACTORY DIRECT ADVERTISES THAT THEY HAVE THE CHEAPEST PRICES ON THE INTERNET, AND THEY WILL MATCH ANY ADVERTISED PRICE. SO I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ASKED WHY THEY SELL THE SAME PART FOR $8.00 MORE AND WOULD THEY MATCH THE DYSON PRICE. NO THEY WOULD NOT. THIS ALONE MAKES ME NOT RECOMMEND THE PRODUCT WHEN PARTS ARE THIS DIFFICULT TO
OBTAIN AT A FAIR AND REASONABLE PRICE.

Well made, fantastic suction, if you can afford one get it. After using our old cleaner you cannot believe how much the Dyson still picked up out of the carpets.

Pros: overall very easy to use (don't know why others are having problems with attachments).
Cons: price, "lifetime filter" is really not

I was so delighted with the performance of this vacuum for the first 3 years I owned it. I diligently performed the maintenance required (cleaning the filter every 3 - 6 months), but after 3 years, this machine began shutting off after a few minutes of operation. The manual says this is due to overheating and provides a variety of things to check to fix the issue. I have taken the whole darn thing apart and cleaned it with an air compressor til it was immaculate, but it continues to shut off. I called the support number and explained the problem. They first suggested that I need to send it to a repair facility, but when I told them that was not going to happen because I had paid a fortune for it and I could go out and buy a different brand vacuum for the cost of repairing the Dyson, they suggested that the "lifetime HEPA filter" probably needed replacing. I am waiting on delivery of said new filter (which I had to pay close to $40 for, including S&H), so I am not even sure whether that will fix the problem.

Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with my Dyson. It cost $500 to buy, and broke down 3 times in two years. The third time it broke down, I called customer service expressing my dissatisfaction. They wanted me to send to vacuum in one more for inspection. I did not want to because my 2-year warranty was soon ending, and if the product broke down once more, I would be out the cost. I told them I would much rather prefer a new vacuum, which they refused (again this vacuum cost us $500).

I am left with no other choise but to unfortunately give the Dyson Animal a negative review, and hope that noone else spends $500 on the lemon that I was stuck with.

I have had my Dyson Animal for 6 months and it beat anything I had prior. I vacuumed with my Oreck and the Dyson picked up dirt right afterward. With 4 cats, the Animal is a MUST. Plus, they really stand behind the product. I broke the stair attachment (purely my fault) and they sent me out a new one at no charge. My only complaint is that it is heavy to carry upstairs --- so I bought a second Dyson (the yellow one) for upstairs. They are expensive but well worth it.

Pros: suction!, attachments, neat design, durability, no bags, filters, belts, also a great warranty
Cons: a bit heavy

I just received my dream vacuum for Christmas and it is awesome! my boyfriend and I live in an apartment and the floors were pretty shabby, not to mention that our ancient eureka was doing nothing in the vacuuming department, it would not pick up anything! After getting the Dyson set up we had to quick try it out before bed (although we probably woke some neighbors) and the 2X2 square of white carpet we vacuumed picked up so much dirt and hair it was unbelievable. I could not believe that there was that much dirt living in my carpets! The next morning we vacuumed our entire 1 bedroom apartment and had to empty the container 4 times!! gross, but my carpets look brand new it even got rid of some stains, by just vacuuming, we also used the upholstery attachment and did our living room furnishings and our mattress, all I have to say is if you can afford to, go and get this vacuum and you will be amazed at the difference in your floors ...incredible
