I would definitely recommend the Dyson DC23 to anyone looking for a bagless canister vacuum that is very powerful, efficient on all types of flooring, compact for easy storage, and great at deep cleaning carpet pile. I use my DC23 almost daily, and ...
Pros: Handles every kind of dirt from dust to birdseed Very sturdy Very compact Excellent customer service Cons: This is heavy. The reservoir could be larger. Needs a longer cord.
I have a house full of messy people and pets. With 8 parrots, 2 dogs and a teenager, it's almost impossible to keep up with the dirt. I have had MANY vacuum cleaners through the years, but I will only purchase Dyson in the future. I love my Stowaway! It ...
Pros: Neat looking and is the talk of the neighborhood. Cons: Too heavy, especially if you have stairs.
Our old Hoover canister vac lasted 9yrs. We moved into a new two-storey house with carpet, tile and hardwood, not to mention a lot of stairs to climb with 9 foot ceilings. My hubby wanted to buy a Dyson because it was "cool". I honestly wonder how ...

Excellent performance but awkward by alpine99 ,Nov 28 '09
Pros: excellent suction and performance, very clean exhaust air Cons: bulky and awkward, poor agility, messy canister emptying
The Dyson D23 excels at performance. It is likely the best vacuum I have ever owned for constant, strong suction and clean exhaust air. Unfortunately there is a trade off since the overall design is very awkward compared simpler and less expensive vacuums. The hose is stiff and bulky and the agility of the canister is quite poor. The tools and accessories are solid in function but again are bulky and the telescoping wand is awkward in tight spaces. Also emptying the canister is an unexpectedly messy task that is best done outside to avoid a cloud of dust. Overall I am still happy with the D23 because it does the job so well, but I really wish there didn’t have to be any “getting used to” or compromising on such an expensive vacuum.
