Pros: Actually works! Affordable. Cons: Only available in black.
In this house we must be careful not to say the "B" word ! For us that word is bye bye. Saying out it loud will only cause chaos and wreak havoc amongst our 3 Pomeranians..... Joey, Jezebel, and Caesar. What dog doesn't love to go...
Pros: Prevents unnecessary distractions from your dog and ensures his/her safety. Cons: Your dog may require a little time to adjust to the harness.
Like many dogs, my 5-month-old mixed puppy Ava loves to look out the window when she goes for a ride in my car. Unfortunately, she loves to look out MY driver's window, which can be quite a distraction and potentially unsafe. Not only is it a safety...
Pros: easy to use, may save your dog's life, well constructed, takes 2 minutes Cons: none
I am one of those people who LOVES my dog. She sleeps in our bed with us. We don't go crazy or anything (its not like we cook her turkey for meals or anything like that), but, we love our dog. She is a family member.
Pros: Well constructed Cons: Hard to adjust with some dogs
[Author driving big black Labrador Retriever puppy, Diamond, to the vet.] Author: No, Diamond! Stop chewing! Sit! Down! Stop licking me! Settle down! Diamond: This is fun! Author: I'm not taking you anywhere...
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use. Cons: Longer haired breeds will get their hair caught in the clips.
In Florida, and several other states, you are required to wear a seatbelt. When I started thinking about it, why shouldn't this apply to my dogs too? I mean, they are my children, after all.
So here's the background on my mutts (don't tell...
Pros: Keeps you and your pet safe while allowing your pet to have a small bit of movement and the ability to look out the window. Cons: Doesn't fit my pet as well as another restraint I have and is more difficult to adjust. Teaching your dog to accept it can take time, but these problems are all greatly outweigh by the utility of this product.
So, why is your pet allowed freedom to roam the car while you are driving? I feel very strongly in the need to restrain your pets in the car. This is important for a couple of reasons:
*To protect yourself and other drivers from your pet...
Pros: Simple to use and comfortable for the dog. Cons: I can't think of any.
The Easy Rider Car Harness was the first seat belt system I purchased for my lab. When she outgrew it, I tried another brand and quickly came back to the Easy Rider. The easy rider is just that, easy. The dogs forepaws slide through the gaps ...
Pros: The Easy Rider is great for restraining your pet while in the car. Cons: It does not fit properly on some dogs and it shaffes the skin.
I bought an easy rider harness for all my dogs and found that the edges do cut into the dogs skin a bit and will cause sores if worn for a long period of time..
I bought sheepskin and wraped it around the straps that would cause shaffing.......
Pros: Secure, seems comfortable, easy to put on Cons: Haven't found any yet...
At last I can take my dogs out for a ride and feel secure! I have a smaller car (a Saturn) and there is certainly not enough room for a dog crate in it, but I didn't want to let that stop me from being able to take my kids on the road with me! These...
Pros: Keeps the dog from jumping around car Cons: Brakes easily
I had the easy rider before I found a much better restraint. It seemed like a good idea. It kept my hyper dog in her seat until one day, two months after I bought it, the buckles came loose when I had to slam on the brakes. My dog went flying into the...
Great concept, poor design by larrainelage ,Oct 18 '09
Pros: Seat belt harness always a good idea for pet safety. Cons: Dog can slip out of harness, and mid-driving this can be disastrous.
I got this harness for a lab mix (meaning standard frame--not too skinny, not too fat) and I liked the look of this harness for the cushioned chest piece. I've always used seat belt harnesses for my dogs as a safety precaution and will always recommend them. Not this one.
Twice he slipped out of the harness while in the back seat. The harness fit him well and was tightened all the way. The design of the harness, which is not a typical harness design, means that any dog that wants to figure this out, can.
Seat belt harnesses are always important, and in my opinion, required if driving with a pet in a car. But I can in no way recommend this harness especially when I saw my dog sitting in the back seat with no protective gear on mid-drive. I was just lucky he was content to just sit there.
