Pros: Promising set of features, nice when working. Cons: Fundamental programming & design problems abound--good luck using all its features!
Although this unit has a great set of features & capabilities, it has so many fundamental problems that it's given me nothing but headaches. I even bought a second unit to compare & found that it had *the same problems*! This is not a case of me ...
Pros: Great recording, great picture, digital tuner, versatile. Cons: Tuner is slow and gets confused easily.
This is a great product with one major flaw. First the good: Flexibility- it works with just about any recordable media (buy DVD-RAM discs for best results and more options). Dubbing VHS directly to DVD a breeze. Lots of inputs and outputs. ...
Pros: Very versatile recording modes on different media Cons: Does not record reliably. Timed recordings in the unit are messed up.
Introduction On the positive side, this recorder is full-featured. There are many inputs on the back, and a slew of recording modes and features. Because of the flexibility, it is complicated to set up, and complicated to use in anything other than the ...
Pros: Great recordings, when it works, even at relatively slow speeds. Good upconversion. Cons: Poor customer service, software glitches, botches recordings with disturbing regularity.
Many of the reviews I read, before I purchased this DVR, didn’t tell the whole story. How many times do you have to reboot your DVR? Nearly once weekly, it stops responding to commands entered from its remote or from buttons on its face and so I have to ...
Pros: Few pros - one obvious pro is low water usage. Cons: excessive vibration; doesn't clean; fails in the middle of a load.
This is the absolute worst washing machine that I have ever owned. Problems started immediately with extreme vibration during the spin cycle. It was leveled correctly. The technician told us that the machine was intended to be used on a concrete floor, ...
Pros: Full Featured, Panasonic quality, customer support. Cons: Manual, poor lay out and index. Remote a real mess. On screen info insuficient.
I have only had this unit for about a week. The first shock was that manual. With so many features perhaps a thick manual was necessary but the layout of the manual is illogical and poorly indexed. No straight forward instructions even for the initial ...
Pros: Good VHS and DVD Playback, Great Sound Cons: Confusing manual, Timer malfunctions, Hard to hook up with out help
I couldn't wait to get this recorder. I researched and researched and this was the one with the best ratings. I bought it and when I opened the box I just stared dumbstruck at the 100 page owners manual. It is bad enough that it is 100 pages long but ...
Pros: Nice unit, does record. Cons: Poor tuner aquisition of channels & channel names during setup.
Basically I like the unit. If you don't need the HDMI connection and the SD card, get the "37" instead of the "47". The EZ475V is the same unit but with an HDMI cable. This thing comes only with a composite cable; gimme a break, who's gonna buy a $300 ...
Pros: HDMI out with upconversion to 1080P, better AV1 input then on other models of recorders. Cons: Getting around the menus, setting programs to record you have to power off the unit.
Purchased this on Friday May 11th 2007, has nice upconversion on DVD's. The recording process so far seems pretty good. Bought this to replace the LG Dvd/VHS recorder I had. So far I am impressed.
Pros: Surprisingly good upconvert. Great recording quality. Cons: Drive burnout; Digital Tuner only works half the time.
I've owned mine since October and when it works, it's great. The upconvert quality is good, and the recorder works fine for me.
My bigger concern is the drive burnout. I had a DVD from Netflix with a very slight scratch. It ejected and I cleaned the DVD and re-inserted. At the same part of the film, the DVD player froze, tried to eject the DVD, and it still wouldn't open the tray. I tried all of the solutions to open the tray and later with the help of Technical Support, determined that the drive malfunctioned. According to several user forums, Panasonic Customer Service, and a firmware upgrade on their own website, they acknowledge this is an issue.
As of this writing, I've spoken with their CSR twice in the last month and their repair shop is currently backlogged with these units.
Love the machine(s) but they are undependable by dsallady ,Nov 25 '07
Pros: Customer service is good but it's just a hassle. Cons: They have independently reset the clock which messes with my preset recording choices.
I have two of these machines -- one in LR and one in BR so I can switch the discs as I do a lot of recording. I love the ability to record and reuse the rewritable discs. However, twice in the last couple of days while I was chasing playback the recording has stopped. To cancel recording, according to the instruction book, you must push the stop button which takes you to a screen asking if you want to stop recording or cancel. That screen did not come up. It just stopped in the middle of the show. Fortunately, I was able to run to where the other machine is located and quickly schedule recording to complete the program. I have had numerous problems with these machines. Returned one for a replacement. Tech support sent a CD for a software update. There have also been numerous times where the machine(s) have simply frozen creating the need to unplug them for a minute so they can reset themselves. The machine(s) still have glitches but I still love 'em.
I can't stand this product by emedlock ,Jun 18 '07
Pros: seems to have a lot of features Cons: must be off to record, front panel hard to access, slow reaction to remote commands.
I got this product for mother's day. Now a month later it is broken. It is stuck in "reset" mode, and without a receipt, I cannot get it repaired under the warranty (even though it says manufactured march 2007 on the back, in metal)
Even before it broke, I did not like it. It was VERY slow to react to remote control commands, and it has to be turned off to record at a specific time. I forgot often and it was very frustrating to sit down to enjoy my show only to find it had not recorded.
It is also very hard to open the front panel, even with fingernails, so if you can't find the remote, you are out of luck.
