Pros:Easy to use yet powerful video editing application Cons:No full screen viewing option while capturing video
PowerDirector 3 by CyberLink is a robust digital video application that will assist the user in capturing, editing, producing and burning media files. The software is intuitive and easy to use yet remains powerful enough to fulfill your video ...
Pros: Great for the amature DVD editor. So easy to Use. Cons: May not have as much to offer Mid. to Pro. Editors.
I had recently been bitten by the "Make my own home DVD's bug". I'm sure all of you out there reading this have been bitten by it at one time or another. You probably have also found out what I have found out.....if you don't have the right software and ...
Pros: Titles, edits, integrates sound, publishes in popular formats. Cons: Doesn't allow the importation of MIDI sound files.
I like many of the Cyberlink products, so I chose to review Cyberlink's PowerDirector. (By the way, links are acting funny here, so I can't use the tags to link to them. Just copy and paste them in your browser, please) ...
Pros: Video editing and batch capturing. Cons: Can't capture video from re-used MiniDV tapes and the DVD Producer software.
I consider myself an average user of video editing tools. I create DVD's on a regular basis, and I often find myself using tools from multiple brands of video editing software to get the output I desire. This product has a lot of easy to use ...
Pros: Easy to learn & use Cons: some limitations, computer did freeze up once or twice while working with a big file.
I had been "Re-searching" for months what type of video editing I was going to use. After all I had to have the digital camcorder (jvc) so i could transfer all the movies I was going to take of my son growing up. After 10-12 tapes throughout 4 years they ...
Pros: Good layout and features. Cons: Freezes up. Does not control my camera properly. Questionable capture logic.
I downloaded the trial version on my XP computer and my Vista computer. Both computers are very fast and reliable. I have not had a lock up in 8 months until I loaded PowerDirector 7. I simply cannot perform any function reliably. The greatest ...
Pros: EASY. POWERFUL. CHEAP! Cons: TAKES A PRETTY BEEFY COMPUTER TO RUN IT.
This program is VERY good. For the money it is unbeatable. I searched for a long time for a DVD authoring program that was reasonable priced and easy to used but also powerful enough to make professional looking DVD's. This is it. Before you buy any other program, go to this site. It is VERY informative. http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/definitions.html
Also check out www.softwarenevada.com I found it for $40 off list price there.
It's so easy! Sounds like a fairy tale........ it isn't! by walkerhound ,Jan 02 '05
Pros: Good exercise in debugging, downloading patches, trial and error, etc. Cons: The con was when I coughed up the cost of $69.95.
Before purchasing, I read a multitude of raving reviews on Power Director 3. Installing it was no cake walk, but after numerous downloads (patches, upgrades, etc.) I finally got it to go. It takes alignment of all the major planets to accomplish step 1, installation. Alright the worst must be over, I thought. After reading how simple it is to use, I knew I would be pumping out videos right and left, wrong! My experience with Power Director 3 has been hunt and peck to say the least. The .pdf file I downloaded was nearly 200 pages printed out. It's full of Power Director 3 will do this and that and the other. It leads you through the steps only to leave you right where you started, without the finished product or a clue of what to do to get it. A task as simple as cutting out commercials in a captured video should be very basic. I've been working on it a week now and have yet to accomplish even that. I'm blowing this one out of my computer and looking elsewhere.
Pros: many features. ease of use. price Cons: crashes, freezes, no wave legnth spectrum in audio timeline
I recently purchased (1/05) powerdirector 3.0 because it seemed to have more features than other video authoring programs for less money. At a glance it would seem to have everything a home editor would look for in a software application. Boy have i been frustrated. My PC exceeds all the system requirements and then some so it is not a compatibility issue. The problem is system crashes and freezing. The ease of use gets tossed out the window if u have to wait for the program to unfreeze, and if u get at all impatient and try to wake it up it will crash on you. Very frustrating if u lose all your hard work and have to start over. Windows Movie maker is a free program that seems to work almost as well for $80 less (free)If this program worked properly i would have no problem saying it was a wonder to behold but alas it hasnt been up to par as of yet. If i am able to resolve these issues i will write another review in a more favorable light...until then i will grit my teeth.
Power Director 3: Good and Irritating by scottcady ,Dec 23 '04
Pros: Intuitive, fast, flexible. Cons: Freezes during projects.
This program has all the features promised and is fairly intuitive. I have produced dvd's quite easily.
I've only been using it for about a week but in my opinion it delivers a great product.
My main peeve is that the program keeps crashing halfway through a project. This is really irritating but it may be something common to video editing programs. You must save often if you plan to get anything done!
I have plenty of processor, video card, memory, and hard drive so I don't think it is a computer problem. At any rate..I think it's a good program that has some BIG BUGS.
Pros: Video capture works well. Nice features for the price. Cons: I could not get it to capture external audio.
I got this as part of an OEM bundle with a KWorld TV883 TV Tuner/ Video Capture card. Installation was a breeze and the features are great for amateur video capture and DVD authoring. External video capture seems to work reasonably well. There are adequate selections for quality and type of capture file. But in my case it simply would not capture the audio. Nothing appears in the audio source selection box, and when I try to click on it, an exception access violation error occurs. I removed and reinstalled the software, checked and/or updated the drivers, but the error continued. I should also note that Windows Movie Maker 2.1 captures video AND audio just fine using this same hardware.
I submitted two help requests via the Cyberlink support web page and got a response both times within 24 hours. Unfortunately, their conclusion was that Powerdirector is incompatible with my capture card! This seems rather odd considering I purchased the whole setup as an OEM bundle. So now I'm stuck with the choice of going back to Movie Maker or coughing up more $$ and purchasing yet another full-featured video editing/ DVD authoring software. Live and learn.
