Pros: Prime location, excellent service, classy and comfortable decor and furnishings Cons: No gift shop on premises for sundries and snacks
If you would ever care to test the caliber of a hotel, I would invite you to travel with my grandparents. On a recent trip to San Antonio with my diabetic grandfather and partially disabled grandmother, we had the privilege of staying at the historic...
Pros: Nice rooms, mostly good and friendly service, good location. Cons: Lousy amenities, uncomfortable hard beds, lapses in security, rotten shower.
We recently spent 5 days in San Antonio, and I did something Ive never done before. I took a chance and booked our hotel room on Priceline. I told it where I wanted to stay (the Riverwalk), what quality of hotel I wanted (4 stars), and how much I ...
Pros: Location. Location. Location. Lovely decor. Friendly service. Jacuzzi! Cons: Nothing, except the parking fee perhaps, although not really an issue.
My husband and I just returned from a short trip to San Antonio where we stayed at this wonderful hotel for 2 nights. This hotel is literally right across the street from the famed Alamo. It doesn't get any closer than this. We were very pleased with ...
Pros: Historic Building, close to the Alamo Cons: I have had better service, bed, and experience at a motel 6!
I had expectations that were perhaps a bit too high based on the property touting a Historic building, high star rating, the promise of a wonderful service all at the bargain price of ($300) a night. My girlfriend booked a weekend here is search of a ...
Pros: Excellent location. A remarkably beautiful building. Good prices for room service. Nice feather top beds. Cons: Extremely slow elevators and "no-exit" stairs. Bathroom tends to be moldy. Thin walls.
We arrived at 4:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and despite the noon check out for the previous night's guests, we still had to wait nearly an hour for a room. The rooms are downright boring and on the smallish side. Forget about getting through to room service, the concierge or even management; you'll get the front desk instead and whomever you are trying to reach will call you back...later. The walls are paper thin. The parking is a nightmare, so you're better off going with the valet service ($18.00 a day plus tip as of 7/2006). Nationally, that's not bad, but for San Antonio, it's darn near horrible. On the plus, the young people at the front desk sure are nice and polite.

Pros: Location. Style. Cons: Not well thought out- no high speed access in rooms??
Beautiful is what I can say as you step up to the front desk. There is definite history in the building and they have done a great job converting this to a boutique hotel. Incredible location, almost preferable to the Riverwalk, if only because you get to pass the Alamo everytime you go to the entertainment district (especailly beautiful at night). But some serious details keep this property from being a 5 star. No high speed in the rooms in 2004 is unheard of. Instead, I had to hook up in the "Library"- a common room. My room, altough tastefully appointed, was quite small. The shower head was horrendous- after all the details they look after, you would think that a decent showerhead would be a no brainer.
Would I stay there again? Sure, with another great rate from one of the discount sites, but otherwise, they may be exceeding them selves just a bit.
