True Leadership

by alexs , Dec 09 '99
Pros: Vision and leadership in the face of certain death
Cons: Descriptions of Antarctic climate may induce sudden chills
The context for this story is a series of 'scientific' expeditions in the early part of this century funded by various national governments to conquer the last frontiers on the globe: the North and South poles. Not unlike the space race, the race to the...

Excellent, Exciting, Extremely Enjoyable

by expono , Oct 28 '99
Pros: exciting! true! incredible!
Cons: a slow start, sleep deprivation to finish book, you'll loan it away
This is the best non-fiction adventure book I have read. Period.

My sister claims it is the best book she's read in three years and one of the ten best she's ever read.

Excellent! Couldn't put it down!

by twinmomjen , Aug 17 '00
Pros: A real page-turner, a real life adventure, awesome

Amazing and Exhilerating

by goldduo , Jan 20 '00
Pros: gripping
Cons: leaves you wanting to know more
A friend told me that if you like "Into Thin Air" you will love "Endurance." He was right. This is a thorough and accurate account of Sir Ernest Shackleton's 1914 expedition to the Antarctic. I couldn't put it down. What amazed me...

The true meaning of Endurance

by vashman , Oct 15 '00
Pros: Amazing adventure story, and it's true!
Cons: None
In the reading of Endurance, I learned many life lessons. True leadership is measured by your actions, and life is a true test of endurance. In the voyage of the 28 men aboard the Endurance, the crew finds themselves in a bind, knowing that their ship...
