Pros: Easy to use, good nutrients, taste good Cons: Initial smell
First let me say that I am pregnant - currently at about 18 weeks. It's my second pregnancy, and it's not gone as swimmingly as the first. With both pregnancies I've had a hard time staying on prenatal vitamins. This time I thought ...
Pros: taste good, lots of vitamins & minerals Cons: lots of sugar, convenience items like this often cost a lot
I am one of those moms who is sometimes force to eat on the run, which compounds the problems that I already have with choosing nutritious food. I do worry that I’m not getting enough iron in my diet, and I know I’m guilty of not getting the suggested “ ...
Pros: A great snack drink for pregnant or nursing moms. Cons: I'm sure these are pricy.
You know how when you get something for free it usually doesn’t add up to be everything you thought it would be? Well this time it is different. I received an email requesting me to write a review on Ensure Healthy Mom if the company was to send me free ...
Pros: Nutritious snacks for pregnant and nursing moms; convenient; tasty. Cons: Could smell better...
When the second line appeared on the pregnancy test, I swore to begin eating better immediately - no more caffeine or sugar for me, no way! Then those hormones went haywire and all I could stomach for two solid months was ice cream and chocolate. Hmph. ...
Pros: Taste is not bad when ice cold and over ice! Cons: Hard to find "in stores near you". Being discontinued.
I first heard of these Ensure Healthy Mom Shakes about a year ago. There was a test program where they were sending them out for people to try in exchange for publishing a review of them. My daughter was just a few months old at the time and ...
Pros: chocolate is tasty, no more horse pills Cons: vanilla tastes like liquid ice cream
When I first signed up for the free samples of the new Ensure Healthy Mom products, I opted to try the snack bars rather than the shakes, mainly because I'm a dessert kind of girl. But when I received an email asking me if I'd be willing to try a ...
Pros: It doesn't taste awful. In small quantities, it's probably not harmful. Cons: The health argument holds even less water than the shake itself.
First things first: no, I am not pregnant. Why, then, you ask (not unreasonably), am I reviewing this rather odd product which purports to provide 'balanced nutrition for pregnant and nursing moms?' Good question. Odd answer. I received an ...
Pros: Pretty good balanced nutrition for 200 calories, convenient Cons: The taste
So here it is, 2 oclock in the afternoon the kids are napping and I am finally sitting down to breakfast. Unfortunately this is becoming common place around here and it certainly isnt healthy. Ensure Healthy Mom Shakes seemed like ...
Pros: Convenient, good tasting, very nutritious Cons: smells kind of bad, taste kind of bad when warm
These Ensure Healthy Mom Shakes taste a lot like regular ensure. They are pretty good as long as you drink them really cold & don't smell them the whole time.
They are very convenient & I took them with me on a camping trip. I had one every morning for breakfast with my usual banana & granola bar. I felt confident that I had proper nutrition to do the activities that lay ahead.
Pregnant women worry about nutrition for the baby & for their bodies & this is a fast easy solution.
I had chocolate & vanilla. I was never big on chocolate pre-pregancy, but I do crave it occassionally now. This is a good healthy alternative to a chocolate shake or candy.
I had severe morning sickness in my first trimester & couldn't keep anything down. These would have been good at the time except for the smell. I was highly sensitive to smell at that time & nearly every smell made me feel worse.
Pros: Tasty, nutritious, convenient Cons: should be larger than 8 ounces, doesn't quite fill me up.
I really enjoy these Healthy Mom Shakes. I am a busy mom of two toddlers, and am always in and out--on the go. I find myself snacking too often on junk food and empty calories. These shakes are a great little treat, and I know I am getting nutrition along with my chocolate fix.
I have tried both the vanilla and chocolate and I would have to say I like the chocolate better. I just think they are not big enough...8 ounces doesn't quite fill me up.
Good way to get some protein by liveinlight ,Nov 13 '05
Pros: tastes good, 10g protein Cons: kind of high on price
I tried these since I am pregnant and busy during the day. Getting some sort of nutritious snack in the middle of the day has been hard. I found the chocolate shake tastes pretty good. (I have not tried vanilla.) I wish I would of found these earlier in my pregnancy. The first trimester was a bit rough in finding foods that went down well and had a good amount of protein. The small size makes it easier to get a good amount of calories, protein and nutrients when it is hard to eat. They are convenient to take on the go for an afternoon snack as well. They should be very cold when drinking, so if you don't have a cooler/fridge to put them in to drink later, they might not be the most convenient snack. I found them more agreeable to my digestive system as well since they are lactose free.
