Pros: outstanding tone and playability Cons: hand can stick on the glossy finish on the back of the neck.
I have way too many guitars. I've got knock-offs, one of a kinds, and customs. This is absolutely my favorite. Whenever I even glance at it, resting there comfortably on it's stand, I have to pick it up and hit a lick or two.
Pros: A beautiful guitar... Cons: ...but is a copy.
Epiphone is one of the best companies making low-price guitars, so of course if you are watching something cheap is right. But this is only true in some models, and this is not one of them.
The Gibson LP Custom "Black Beauty" is probably the most...
As good as a gibson at an epiphone price! by bevilution ,Oct 10 '06
Pros: the sound, the looks, the feel, about everything. Cons: how quickly the gold hardwear wore off.
This is one of the best guitars i have ever played. It's sound is verry full and rich and it has incredable sustain due to the mahogany/alder body. I found that the veristile tone for this guiat can cover any playing style from jazz to metal and anywhere in between.
This guitar is like a les paul custom except for it has the three humbucking pickups. I like the versitility that the third pickup gives you. however i had my black beauty rewired so into a five way switch but the three way switch that it comes with is just fine besides the fact that is alittle noisy.
All of the pictures of the black beauty just dont do it justice. You actually have to look at it in real life to see it in its full black-beauty-ness-is-mes. there is one complaint that i have about the gold plated hardwear and that is that the plaiting wore off verry fast. I love the grover tuners that it comes with that is a great plus becouse they hold verry well.
Pros: It's beautiful, it sounds great, it's relatively cheap. Cons: Not anything really, maybe it will become obvious later.
I had reservations when buying this guitar. I considered waiting until I had enough for a Gibson because people alway talk about how Gibsons are supposedly so much better than Epis. I was pleasantly surprised when I bought the guitar. First of all, it looks divine. Anytime people come into my room they start fawning it and asking to hold it!! In terms of it's playing, I am no music expert but as far as I can hear it sounds just like all the records I listen to (Zeppelin, Cream and Hendrix) especially when Put through my Crybaby, or other pedals. This may be because I bought a decent Marshall amp but even if there is some slight difference in sounds between my guitar and the Gibson version, it isn't worth the extra $2000 because I can't hear it and my ear isn't that bad. In terms of machinery, it's been OK so far anyway. The cover for the cable socket was loose when I got it but I soon screwed that in properly myself.
My friend has a Gibson Les Paul Standard and I honestly prefer the Epi black beauty.
