EPSON Stylus NX 400 printer. I consider a very abusive situation that you have to have all color cartridges with ink even though you only want to print on gray scale. You have to buy the 4 colors cartridges, almost $ 100 to print black. Another thing it´s that there is no previous notification when the cartridge is over.  I´m very disappointed on EPSON

I just received a call from my daugther at FSU. We bought this printer last week. She is sobbing because she can't get her syllabus to print and has been trying for hours. As has her hall mate who works for best buy on the computer geek squad. So... I don't think this is her problem.

I am going to contact Epson about getting a replacement printer without a top feeder. We shall see how that goes.

I've had this printer for about a month,and sadly, have to use it frequently.  It is a nightmare. I need it to print envelopes and this is something it cannot do. Paper jams are beyond frequent, and in order to clear the jam, the printer must be turned off and on again. The entire process takes about 2 minutes..which is fairly agonizing when handfeeding envelopes one by one (the only way it will complete the job..)
 A normal print job takes at least an hour with all the turning off and restarting I have to do.

Epson has so dissappointed me with this machine. My last printer was a cheapie Epson and worked like a dream for over 2 years with constant hard work. This guy is destined to be given away shortly- it's just worthless to me.

I got this printer at Staples for only 49.99 about 6 months ago, and I've been happy so far, although I consider myself a 'recreational' printer user. It's true that the set of ink cartrages will cost more then the printer, but they last considerably longer then on my HP, plus you have the option to change them one color at the time, so you get a full use use of each color. The only problem I discovered so far is that it does not accept the large format photo paper, only 6x4.

Pros: the scanner is fairly good, and easy to use.

I paid only $25 for this printer/scanner/copier, and IT WAS TOO MUCH! I now have a $25 PAPERWEIGHT!!!!! WHEN and IF you can get the thing to recognize the ink cartridges, it tells you within days...yes, days, that you need to replace the cartridge...you pull it out you shake it, it sounds almost full...wtf??? you go buy a new cartridge, you slip it in, and bingo, it tells you it can't recognize the ink cartridge. THIS THING IS A PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!!

I got the Epson NX400 free when purchasing another item. It was really free otherwise I wouldn't have paid a penny for anything made by Epson. It was being sold at that time for $99. Nowadays I have seen it for as low as $25. Please stay away from this printer. It is the Epson's worst printer ever, cheap, bad workmanship, 100% crap.  I worked for about 2 days and then it would not feed paper. I also own an HP all-in-one which works wonderfully. The nx400, when it printed a page, it sounded like a garbage truck picking up and compressing trash.

Cons: Wastes Ink!  Stops you from printing when any ink is out.Hard to put paper in!

This is the worst printer ever!  I have to replace the ink constantly and even the color cartridges when I only print in B&W.  This is a total scam, don't waste your money.  And if one cartridge runs out, you have to install before you can use the printer!!! It is terrible.
Hard to put the paper in too!
