Pros: Photo prints are great... Cons: ..when you can get it working.
We bought this printer a little over a year ago on a whim. We were totally wow-ed by the in-store demo and, without any research, were thrilled to bring it home. The photo prints were great! We made a calendar of our child's art and each reproduction ...

Pros: Great Output, Low Cost Cons: Cost of Ink Cartridges
We purchased a digital camera for my wife to use for scrapbooking and while I already own an Epson all in one printer, and am very pleased with its output, I decided to look around for a printer that would handle the photos without requiring interfacing ...

Had nothing but problems- went through 5 of them!!
by owensark ,Feb 03 '06
Pros: 6 separate colors- not wasting ink by throwing away Cons: Had nothing but problems with the head going bad on light magenta
I LOVED this printer when I got it. The quality is exceptional, and I was VERY happy with it... until the light magenta ink wouldn't print. Luckily, it was under warranty, and I called and got a replacement. That one had the same problem the first time I tried to print from it! I went through 3 others with the same problem, within 1 year of original purchase, and they finally upgraded me to the 340. I can't imagine that it was JUST ME that had the problem with this printer, but I would never buy one again! I do like the fact that it has the 6 colors- the difference is amazing in printing. People couldn't believe that I printed them out myself! They look like they came from the store! Maybe even better!

Don't buy an Epson if you own a Mac
by swco ,Sep 13 '07
Pros: None that I can see. Cons: A giant headache to use!
I have had trouble with 3 printers and 2 scanners made by Epson and supposedly usable with a Mac. Don't believe it!! The Mac versions are totally featureless, only basic printing, etc. I got the R320 because it would print CDs, but it is so cranky that it often takes MANY restarts, retries, etc to get one to actually print.
Ink cartridges expensive and don't last long.
I'm through with Epson.

Nice Capabilities - Expensive To Maintain
by upwhat ,Jun 27 '06
Pros: Good quality output. The ability to print CD's. Prints quietly and at a decent speed. Cons: Expensive to replace the ink cartridges and they don't hold much ink.
As stated above, the printer has some nice features like being able to print on CD's which is the main reason I made the purchase.
The speed of the printer is not lighting fast but it is acceptable.
In my opinion the output exceeds the HP Photo printer that I replaced.
The CD printing feature created semi-professional output at a reasonable speed.
The biggest con is the price of the ink cartridges and the fact that there are 6 of them as opposed to 4 in my old HP.
I would probably buy this printer again however I do not use it as my regular printer I only use it for special print jobs.

When she was good, she was very very good, but when she was bad....
by lgoldblatt ,Jul 01 '06
Pros: When it works, it works BEAUTIFULLY. Cons: When it blotches, it messes up everything.
What a great printer...for the first 3 months.
First the black ink ran out WAY before it should have.
Then, after sitting for a week when i was on vacation, i had to clean the heads - 4 times. Found out how much ink that takes - half a cartridge.
The printer is set properly for the paper type, but now that i've replaced the cartridges, every so often i get these random blotches of black ink when i use heavier paper. So, not only is the INK expensive, so is the card stock or photo paper i WASTE. Then, it's back to cleaning the heads again, and wasting MORE ink.
I loved my epson 740. But wanted a photo printer. I'm going bck to Canon.

Don't lose the tray
by avidfilmaker ,Apr 12 '06
Pros: quality prints, easy installation, prints CD, good price Cons: separate CD tray that could get lost.
Bought the R320 to replace another Epson printer that I bought along time ago and is still working great. The reason for the purchase was I needed a printer that could print CD and DVD directly. I was getting tired of messing up labels that would bubble.
Connections was easy. software installed without any problems. Quality is great. Speed is good. I can print directly from memory card from my digital camera. I can view files from a small but useful LCD screen.
My only con is the separate CD tray that you must manually adjust by lining up arrows. Seems a little low rent.
I purchased the R320 at Staples for 100.00 after a 50.00 rebate.
